why this game is bad from a new player PoV

killers like scream, michael myers, the big guy with the club that looks like thanos, you cannot get away from them. theres 0 point in doing generators when they can cross the map in 5 seconds and check every generator. what me and my friends do is just wait for him to kill 3 of us and then 1 person escapes and we count it as a win. and then half of the time when its one of them, they think they are good at this game that should be fun but people take it seriously for some reason, and they have some ego about playing a broken killer, so they be friendly and waste like 10 mins of your time

The problem is that the game is build around perks and readablity of certain hints.

if you go into this game blind, you are lost "why could he do this" is something in didn't understand for a long time. you need to learn a ton of perks to understand the game. Simply you can't even hide as certain perks show you on the killer side, and looping is something that needs a long time to do for longer than 20 seconds.

all im saying is, this should just be a fun exciting game for both sides, but its just a 1 sided stomp with a rank system for whatever idiotic reason lol.

the best game is when you have a semi new/ dumb killer whos trying and not on a broken character. and everyone gets to play the game

You mentioned two bad killers, and one good. Ghostface and michael have no mobiity at all. Having difficulty with oni is understandable, as he is the snowballing machine in the game, but a good strat is to just avoid the first hit like you life depends on it, dont be greedy for that one extra loop around the pallet, or that one extra vault. He can only use his power once he m1's someone

Play killer, if you have low MMR you smash everyone, even if you are bad.

If you have one friend (on Discord there are many always up to play) that is decent, then you have a lot fun learning the game. without guidance, the game is worse than it is with it's problems. it still is a good game. but i can understand the frustration. Both sides want fun, but at the moment the game is kind of in limbo. You should keep an eye out for "VHS" which hopefully releases somewhat soon.

ghost face and michael are fast af, like idiotically fast. and they can 1 shot, i listed 3 killers, theres many more that make the game unplayable.

Im hoping this is a troll, but i'll give some tips. Most killers in the game will move at 4.6m/s, including ghostface and myers. Myers starts the match at 4.2m/s second with no lunge, but also no terrorradius. When survivors are in his line of sight, he can start stalking them, decreasing his movement speed. Once he stalks them for around 5 seconds, he goes to tier 2, where he has 4.6m/s and a normal lunge, but only a 16 metre terrorradius. He can stalk even more for 60 seconds of tier 3, where he vaults ~10% faster and lunger for a little longer, as well as being able to down survivors in one hit. The best strategy is to avoid grouping up and not letting michael stalk his way out of tier 1 fast.

Gimme a sec to post one for ghostface

  • Perk, Item, Addon reliance:

I may have all of the perks in a given Killer but only 6-7 of them are strong enough to use and addons to go with that

I may be lacking in the perk department but I found perks that I like to use (those may not be the strongest perks to use but I do) and an Item with addons useful enough to bring into a match

    BP grind/Bloodwebs:

I recently gotten all of the perks that I can get on a Killer (cause of spending real money on the Killer's I don't have then leveling them up to get their perks unlocked or waiting for them to show up on the Shrine)

But I still have a way to go to get all perks for Survivor (cause of getting them (either by shards or real money) and leveling them up to get the perks unlocked or waiting for them to show up on the Shrine)

    Firstly - welcome!

As a new player, a few things to keep in mind.

    • DbD is not an 'easy to learn, hard to master' game. It's quite old now, and the community, even at an intermediate level, is rather sophisticated. You'll get hammered for a while before you get the hang of it.
    • That said, after a certain skill point, DbD is commonly considered survivor favored.
    • Your best bet is to watch some videos and get a feel for the game. You'd also want to pick a handful of perks (Otz does a good series on this) to unlock as a priority.
    • You may also have some luck finding people to SWF (form a premade with). They'll be able to walk you through things.

Good luck and stick with it. It's a really fun although interminably frustrating game.

Ghostface works similarly enough, having to stalk survivors. He starts at 32 m terrorradius and 4.6m/s movement speed. However, he can use his power to remove his terror radius and red stain at any time as long as he hasnt used it recently. While stealthed, ghostie can stalk survivor, and even lean to hide more of their body. Once they stalked you enough, they can instadown you. However, if you look at him for a long enough time (and the game doesnt bug), you can take away his power for ~30 seconds

yeah no i dont wanna premade for a game that shouldnt have a competitive scene lol. it should just be a fun game that nobody min maxes or tries to be big brain about. its a hilarious game concept in the first place.

Then keep playing - eventually your MMR will stabilize at a region where hopefully you'll get matched with/against people of a similar mindset.

However, keep in mind that this will take a dozen or more games, and that matchmaking has some very strange quirks (and seems to be disabled periodically). A good rule of thumb - if you have an instant queue, dodge that lobby. Someone else dodged and it threw you in there, it may be way above (or below) your skill level.

If you have multiple instant queues in a row, the matchmaking might have been disabled for a few hours. Take a break and come back later.

  • The first 2 Killers you mentioned, Ghostface and Myers, are some of the worst Killers in the game but are really good against new players due to their inexperience. Oni is a snowballing machine, being able to kill a team of Survivors quickly, especially against inexperienced ones that don't know his weaknesses

As other people mentioned, Ghost Face and Myers are pretty bad, and Oni is pretty strong. The best advice I can honestly give you is to play killer. By playing killer you start to learn those killers' strengths and weaknesses. Then you bring your knowledge of those killers with you when you play survivor so you know how to counter them.
