Bring Back Quick Play!

Quick Play was a game mode that was removed in patch 1.5.0 since there was a lack of a playerbase in it. Considering there are going to be changes to Ranked play coming soon, it's a better time than ever to actually re-introduce Quick Play to fans of the game in a spectacular light.

But there needs to be changes to Quick Play before it'd ever come back, if it ever did. These changes would set it apart from Ranked play and thus make it equally as appealing to play as Ranked. The following is a list of suggestions if Quick Play were ever to return.

Re-Introduced: Quick Play

"Play as a Survivor or Killer against people from around the world, with no restrictions on who you play against and how you play against them. This will not affect your Ranking."

In-Game Changes

  • In Quick Play, you earn 50% bonus Bloodpoints.
    • This is to compensate for the lack of end-of-season Bloodpoint rewards.
  • In Quick Play, you earn 25% less Experience Points.
    • This is to compensate for the fact that you match up with players of differing skill levels, as well as the increase in Bloodpoint gain in this game mode.
  • MMR and Rank will not play a factor in matchmaking.
  • Progression is not tied to Rank; what you earn in Quick Play stays in Quick Play.
    • This does not apply to Bloodpoints, which can be spent in Ranked.
  • Killers can now chat with the Survivors before the match starts.
  • Adept Achievements are disabled during Quick Play.

Bloodweb

  • Survivor and Killer Perks now appear more frequently.
  • Higher tiered Add-Ons now appear more frequently.
  • The Entity will eat up less Bloodweb items in the Quick Play Bloodweb.
  • Survivors and Killers cannot Prestige when in Quick Play.
    • This means that Survivors and Killers' caps are Level 50.

Survivors and Killers

  • Perk Slots no longer have a level restriction, meaning you can use all of your Perks right off the bat.
  • Survivors will now start off with the common Flashlight, Toolbox and Med Kit items.
    • There is only one of each that they start off with.
    • This is meant to get Survivors new to the game used to the game mechanics.
  • Killers will now start off with the common Add-Ons for their Power.
    • There is only one of each that they start off with.
    • This is meant to get Killers new to the game used to using add-ons.
  • Survivor and Killer exclusive Perks can be taught 10 levels earlier than before.

The Benefits of Quick Play

The best way to describe the benefits of Quick Play is that this would cater to both the casual side and the newer side of the fanbase; this would let new players experience the game without requiring bots that won't do the job for them. This will help newer players get used to the game altogether.

On the converse end, players who are more familiar with the game would be able to unwind with this game mode since Ranked is going to be changing. It gets the player to warm up, destress and get themselves readied up for their competitive games, while also conversely allowing them to play a more casual experience after a while of playing with such stiff competition.

Overall I feel like Quick Play is a necessity for this game going forward, which is why I say...

It's time to bring back Quick Play.

Comments

  • While a no-ranked quickplay is interesting, I have no idea why you added all that extra BS. Just keep it normal DBD. Faster match making at the expense of ranks.

but ultimately... Nah. We don't need to split player base anymore.

  • This is basically just a watered-down version of KYF. It should just be regular DbD, if it must exist.

  • Man I keep it short. You handled this game mode idea like a killer ability or a perk.

Don't like it at all. Quick Play yes. Your vision of that, no.

  • I would just make a quick play button where it put you in the queue and selects the role that is needed most. Since killer is locked during Matchmaking, quick play would choose the killer you have selected in the main menu.

  • Unfortunately, Quick Play as it would be if it was implemented as it was back then would be a horrible and obsolete experience since there's no benefit to playing it.

I'm trying to offer benefits to playing it, not making it watered-down "Rank". This version of Quick Play has benefits that would draw in players, while Rank would have its own benefits to draw in players as well.
