Survivors passive abilities pros and cons?

Except "everyone will play as strongest character", devs can just balance it, and not every single killer playing as spirit/nurse/freddy

What is up with everybody trying to give survivors more perks for free? Survivors are truly just skins and their teachables fill the role of passive abilities.

  • There isn't really any balancing to it, just like there are around 5 / 6 usable survivor perks that people branch out and use because nothing else is "efficient" there will always just be the more efficient character.

The biggest con is the fact they've sold millions worth of clothing and to play the best that you want you'd have to default to the most efficient survivor, for right now, at least in "Dead By Daylight" is must stay this way, it's 5 years too late to give passives to each character, maybe in the next game or whatever.

  • The devs already have more than enough to balance.

Adding survivor passives on top of that would be waaaaay to much for them.

  • Always said pro. Passive abilities would add a bit of fresh air to the stale state survivors are (skins, literally).

They don't have to be gamebreaking nor strong, and they don't have to be unique to every survivor.

I can imagine two being like enter lockers or crouch 5% faster, or heal 3% faster or even reduce/increase chance of skill checks by 1% literally small stuff

  • Can be Pay2Win if a licensed character gets a good passive.

Is that not the exact same for killers?

  • If they were to Do passive it have to be something that doesn't increase the speed of something but give something new or skillful.

It could be something great if done right so it should take a long time to figure out how to do it and how it was affect the game.

I had an idea similar to this but for killers instead of survivors, that killers can be put under classes that each have their own passive. This like Stealth killers go into the ambush class, and they are immune to aura reading on them, map control killers go into the pressure class and they can hear generators from much farther, territorial killers are in the Territorial class and they can see the aura of generators and how complete they are by going from white color to red color the more complete they are, etc.

It would just create another potential source of bugs.

    I'd rather just avoid that

  • Claudette has the passive ability of being able to disappear into the map like a damn invisible ninja, and that skews her to be one of the more popular survivors. It's annoying. Passive abilities would lead to more of that kind of thing.

Passive abilities would also be difficult to balance for, because they have to be useful without becoming OP when combined with perks. The abilities would either need to be so weak as to be nearly ineffectual or perks would have to be nerfed. They'd create more issues and more bugs. I think survivors being just skins is good. I'd get really annoyed if a survivor who's not one of my prestiged mains got the passive ability I'd want to use. Or survivors would end up with that problem killers have, where you need to put a ton of BP into all of them because they each have a different strength to use with whatever perk build you're interested in running. Is making the game a bigger grind really what DbD needs?

I meaaaaaaaan.. true, but that's on the developers, not on the idea :/
