What is object of obsession really used for?
It reveals the killer's aura and reveals your aura to the killer but i want to know how was it intended to be used?

I'm not sure how it was intended to be used, but it's main use is in a swf to tell the rest of the team the exact placement of the killer.
well it was kinda just thrown into the game. none of the perks really had an intended use. here are a few examples:
dead hard was meant to dodge attacks, not be used for distance
ds was meant to used for hook campers/tunnellers, but instead its being used for locker techs and free gen progress
head on was meant to be used for making a juke during a chase, not being used to escape the basement
sprint burst was meant to be used when available, not to get 99d
spine chill was meant for information, not for faster vaults
mettle of man was meant to be used for helping teammates, not to be used as a free health state in a sabo build
i dont have a problem with any of these, but these were probably the intentions of the devs for these perks
Many players claim to run it so they can get practice being chased, since it makes you a tunnel magnet. Not sure about this logic, though.
I use it to get tunneled
other use it for info they can share with their team about what the killer is up to
On a swf REALLY good with it
The strength of OoO depends entirely on how good you are at communicating information as well as at chases, the better you are at those the stronger this perk is.
I'm pretty sure this perk was supposed to be used as a risk/reward perk where you get info at the risk of getting chased but with how long good survivors can last and the existence of SWF that just isn't how it is used. In a solo i guess it works like that but because the killer doesn't know if you're in a swf you often get tunneled.
DS was not intended to be used as anti tunneling lol. You know when DS was first added to the game it was always active with no timer? Like you just got picked up at any time you got out. Making it so it was only active after getting hooked was literally just a nerf to DS not a redesign or change of design goal with the perk.
The sprint burst one is kinda true but only because when sprint burst was first added it still recovered while you were running so you'd get multiple sprint bursts per chase.
If spine chill wasn't meant to give you faster vaults, they'd have removed that by now, it's not like it's some unintended side effect, it just does that.
If I remember correctly Object was intened to be a challenging perk which gave you a ton of information about the killer at the cost of you being volnurable the whole time. Back then it was only one of 3 Obsession perks for survivor and 2 of the 3 Obsession perks for killer needed you to be alive, while the other needed you dead. It was always a risk using anything obsession related as a survivor (or killer), especially later, when Remember Me and Rancor were added.
I think it wasn't meant to be a tool for swf to tell everyone everytime where the killer was, or to be toxic and annoying with it, like it is used now.
Same goes for other perks:
sorry, i havent been playing in that time
