Paid Moris from a survivor mains perspective show why ebony moris should be based kit
Everyones favorite fog whisper who's not from spain made a video on an little interview Mccote did where he talks about the possibility of new moris. Paulie, wise to how BHVR works basically predicted they would be sold as a way to try to get more money out of killers like they do survivors.
THE ISSUE is as a survivor main almost exclusively he doesn't seem to understand that the cost of moris (an ultra rare offering) combined with the requirement that you basically already kill them means moris are really useless from the killer perspective, for the most part.
THE REVELATION as a survivor main is he understand Moris are useless. They can only get you if you were already gonna die (but my swf bodyblock!) Not only that but he now understands what i have been trying to get people to since i started maining survivor, moris make the game better. So much of Survivor gameplay is the same boring step by step process and the worst part is when you're being chased go down and struggle in vain while being carried through the hook to then be impaled. The chase and the ending would be a lot more satisfying if the mori was the default way if ending the game as a survivor. I even prefer PHs lame mori to dying on hook
THE LORE is pretty open this, Myers, hag, PH, spirit, Pig, a lot of killers have ways to circumvent the entities will and kill, if we look at huntresses perks we see she has one where her bloodlust becomes so strong that her connection with the entity is momentarily broken. All the killers are bloodthirsty, all want survivors dead, and chasing them for at least a 3rd time sounds like more than enough to motivation to me
THE CONSEQUENCES would be pretty minimal. Base kit moris would prevent 4 things from happening.
1. Bodyblockers, aka degenerates who cares i chop that up as a positive
2. Sabo saves, often paired with degenerates this one is more respectable as a task is being completely as opposed to T bagging while the killer hits you. I say this a negative but overall there is more to be gained, the killer being more intimidating is never a bad thing.
3. Wiggling off because no hooks are near. This is just a straight up positive as it creates an entirely negative situation for the killer.
4. Ds. This actually would barely be worth mentioning if not for the "nerf" that will force survivor to use it more wisely. If moris were basekit it makes that 60 seconds of invincibility window smaller. Very positive
Jk there's actually
5. Flashlight saves. This is actually really stupid and kind of on the same level as swarm bodyblocking. Why do i respect sabo but not flashlights? I guess because its just lame, they should honestly be removed and replaced with real weapons. They are leftover from a time when the game was supposed to feel killer sided. "You will not escape" and all that. And while we should move back towards that more the fact that we now have survivors who aren't pathetic screams for more weapon diversity. Ash, Steve, Laurie and Cheryl go against Legion and you're telling me they picked up a flashlight? Anyway all that aside the actual gameplay is worthless, people like flashlighting for the same reason they like DS, it can give you another health state. The game tends to center around things that make escaping easy when they should be focusing on making the game fun. That 4 man SWF didnt have fun when they flashlight save it was "GGEZ" and the killer for sure didnt have fun so instead the focus should be on making the SWF walk away smiling while they are getting their guts ripped out
THE CONCLUSION then is that basekit moris would benefit the game for everyone, it would solve the ever present DS problem, lead to more exciting chases with higher stakes, and create a reason to sell moris with very minimal downsides. Other than DS/BS the situations where it would change gameplay are minimal and rare. The main difference would be the killer being perceived more as a threat and the fact that that could be an issue really speaks to where the game is right now.
Also sub to Paulie he a cool boomer

I'd be firmly against something like mori's being basekit in the game - the amount of game mechanics they can still circumvent such as flashlight saves, hook blocks etc being one of the main reasons.
You didn't read my post but you actually bring up something i missed. Flashlight saves
I actually read all of it, which is why I disagree that basekit mori's are healthy for the game.
Moris where kinda strong but they completely killed them. They should have been reworked in a better way because you never get to see one in games anymore unless it is devour. Rancor is laughable.
The current ways mori's are, yes I think it would be unhealthy - there'd be no point in survivors even making that 2nd save for example if they know the mori is definitely always going to happen.
I think if there's a complete change (not even things connected with hooks etc) it could work - but that's a whole gameplay change and I'm not that creative I'm afraid.
I'd have no problems with Cypress being basekit as that one doesn't really affect gameplay at all.
Theres already 2 requirements for moris. Being an ultra rare offering and then basically killing the survivor by chasing and downing them twice.
Meanwhile what are the requirements for bodyblocking, flashlight saving, ds it feels stupid to even list this because im not saying anything we dont know. Like Mandy, im a survivor main. Unlike Mandy tho i get no joy out of escaping for the sake of escaping. Mandy is like most survivors and thats the issue holding DBD back. The game does not need to be an escape simulator it needs to be fun and while most survivors wont tell you that most survivors are also constantly ######### talking the game. Why? Because the game IS brain dead easy as survivor but how did you die last game? Did the killer tunnel? You get hit with noed? Chances are it was some BS. Because there has to be BS because the game is so survivor sided but when that killer hit you with NOED what did he feel? Happy that he got your punk ass
THAT is whats unhealthy
It is unhealthy that most survivors only want to make the killer feel bad, it is unhealthy that most killers want to kill specific survivors to spite them. How do you fix this? You gotta start by making the killer an actual threat and you gotta stop worrying about survivors quiting. In fact its so bad now that it would be GOOD if survivors quit because i typed all this waiting for a match! I could play killer but i dread it so much that im saying ######### it and getting on eso.
Anyway the point is no one is happy with the game (except Paulie he'll be happy regardless because he's a saint) and it just keeps going downhill. For killer i think its obvious why but for survivor i think its because its just so boring and we are being catered to! We get everything we want, the DS "nerf" is a buff to everyone who doesn't know how to use it and people are still raging out. I think its time to try a different direction. Also if you want to sell moris you gotta make them be a part of the game thats also important
A good first step. I think you're wrong about it not making a difference because it would to one person. You're probably assuming SWF would negate it and in solo you'd be dead anyway but i see a future where SWF wait at the exit gate while the killer walks besides the slug. People would eventually ask whats the point the game would flow better if it was a ivory and then we go from there.
Like i said the community and its mindset has ruined this game, its not the game it was supposed to be and it never will be now but we can take steps to go back to that solid premise while evolving it to still cater to the fandom it has spawned. You just can't let the animals run the farm they dont know whats best they only know what they like.
In dbd terms we like winning like dogs like chocolate
Alright, but how would base kit moris make killers happy? So 2-3 times in a game they don't have to worry about the things you mentioned?
"In dbd terms we like winning like dogs like chocolate"
What is winning in this game?
the green mori should be basekit at the least, right now mori are useless.
Moria are mostly useless. The timing for the game as killer is simply too tight. During the mori animation you are not moving and two gens are popping in the distance.
Just curious, would you be opposed to the Cypress Mori being made base kit? Under the circumstances where that is useable, Sabo, Flashlights, and Body Blocks can't happen because there's no one else left to do them. The only "mechanics" that that Mori prevents are mostly super lame anyway... being the Survivors crawling away to a corner of the map with no hooks to get a wiggle off and getting stabbed via an anti tunneling perk when you literally have no other targets. The only one that's fine that would get broke is Power Struggle + Flip Flop but surviving with that when you're the last one left is still super long odds.
