Play either role after xx minutes waiting

So everyone knows that waiting times are a pain. Personally for me, finding a killer match during the day takes about 10-15 minutes but a survivor match takes about 20 seconds. At night, that switches around, killer matches take 20 seconds and survivors take 10 minutes.

The problem is not enough people playing a particular role meaning there aren't enough players to go around.

Why not add an "either role" mode? It'll put 5 people into a lobby and then one of those is chosen to be the killer. You setup your "default character" for both roles so you are ready no matter what role you are assigned.

This would need to be a setting rather than an entirely separate queue (which would take people out of the queues for Killer and Survivor respectively). A simple option for "After xx minutes of searching for a match, join either role" in which you can choose the number of minutes.

Of course, I have played F13. There's a lot of people who just rage quit as soon as they figure out they are not Jason... You would therefore need to increase the DC penalty for anyone who DC's during this game.

Other games have a similar sort of setup (F13, Predator HG, Among Us) so I'm not sure why DbD can't be the same?

  • I don't think increasing the DC penalty is a good idea.

Predator HG "either role" is pointless, 98% of the time you're going to be on the fireteam so why not just que for that role.

Among Us is something different, most of the time in a public game a good chunk of the lobby will leave immediately if those players are not the imposters.
