I dreamed that BHVR didn't forget about Plague

Then I woke up.

To be precise, it was about a tweet regarding Plague's current state and their plans for her. Man, I wish it would turn out to be a glimpse of the future. No skins since a year and no rework plans? Now that's just disappointing.

  • I'm still baffled that they're prioritising adjusting huntress and demo over michael and plague.

Huntress and demo are arguably some of the most well designed killers, yet michael still has tier 1 and plague is plague.

  • I mean,just look at trapper.

He's the mascot of the game but also the worst killer here.

And he still doesn't get 2 traps basekit.

They're probably prioritising Huntress and Demo due to their add-ons being their main problem, Huntress's Iri Head, lack of a second ultra rare add-on and exhaustion add-ons all need adjusted to be brought more in-line with other killers. In comparison, Demo's add-ons are rather lacklustre, with only a couple being of any real use.

Plague and Michael on the other hand are alright killers as is, they could probably use some add-on adjustments as well, however the thing about both of them is they both have the potential to obtain methods of attack that are already very strong in their current forms. Adjustments to either of them need to be done carefully as to not make their default abilities crazy strong.

It's mostly her AddOns. They technically still have to fit them into the typical 4-5-5-4-2 scheme as the rest of the killers. Probably on their To-Do-List for an eternity.

Huntress does have problematic add ons which do need changing at some point so I guess that's fine. Demo however is almost perfect, sure some of his add ons are useless but most of them have a use and useless add ons are on the majority of killers. The only things I can think of for demo is base kit rat liver and a few hitbox adjustments.

Plague is clunky to play due to the slowdown after vomiting and her power is horribly designed by being completely controlled by the survivors, hence her low pick rate. Michaels tier 1 is nothing but a hinderance and prevents him from becoming anywhere above the lower end of mid tier.

It's not that Demo or huntress don't need changes, it's mainly that they're prioritising minor issues over killers with much larger issues.

That's true. All they're doing for Huntress is an add-on pass and for Demo is just number changes and an add-on pass. It's not like their actual powers are getting some massive change.

  • Plague will never see a rework because BHVR's management appears to lack any ability to enforce deadlines.

The idea that it takes months to create a new list of Add-Ons for any killer is asinine.

This is what it looks like when a company actually wants to get something done...

Lead Dev: "Canas, I want to see a first draft of an Add-On pass for Huntress, Plague, & Trapper in my Inbox by Wednesday morning, in addition to your other weekly responsibilities. Leachy_Jr, I want the same from you but for Myers, Wraith, and Demo."

    Canas & Leachy_Jr: "Will do."

Lead Dev (Wednesday Morning): "Okay team, Canas and Leachy are presenting their Add-On passes today [...] anyone have any questions or concerns about the first draft? Yes? Okay, lets address those by Friday morning. Programmers, do you think you could get these changes into a PTB by next Friday? I'll reach out to our art department--they should be able to mock up some icons by then."

Community: "We like/dislike these changes because of ____"

Lead Dev: "Okay team, our changes were well/poorly received. Lets _____."

That sounds painful, is that really how they do work at BHVR?

I think the biggest issue she has are the inherent slowdowns which are the root of all frustrations related to hitting her abilitiy. Kinda like old Clown who slowed himself down after throwing his bottles, he felt a lot better to play as after the slowdown got removed. They need to do the same for Plague, that alone would make her far more bearable to play as.

  • I had a dream that I walked 20 meters to get my power, started a chase, got vacuumed into a pallet and lost my power that I got 10 seconds ago. Actually that wasn't a dream. Actual Plague gameplay two years after release.

I stunned a Huntress one time and she lost all her hatchets and had to go reload. Just kidding. That didn't happen. Because that would be a supremely stupid mechanic.

Now consider the amount of time it took you to get that survivor to even cleanse for you to go pick up that power. Let's say you've spent up to a minute on a single survivor just for them to end up cleansing themself, you then pick up your power and lose it shortly after. That alone would result in probably 80-90 seconds wasted on essentially nothing since said survivor is healthy again while you weren't able to gain any hook progress. That's how screwed up this killer is.

Oh it gets better. Consider that it takes a survivor 16 seconds to be healed by another survivor. This occupies two survivors.

It takes a survivor 6 seconds TO SOLO HEAL at a pool of their choice. You speed up the game tremendously just by selecting Plague. I can't get over how dumb it is.

  • Oh man, the latest Q&A stream really did let me down. They had the chance to finally acknowledge Plague's lack of love and yet they didn't even namedrop her when they talked about planned reworks again. It's already bad enough that she doesn't get any new skins anymore, all they keep giving her are recolors locked behind premium passes.
