Tell us what you're fixing
So, I imagine that you guys have a lot to do when it comes to bug fixing. Fine, making a game is a complex process. But, over in the bug reports, there are stacks and stacks of complaints about the same things. Broken totems, Archive challenges not working, etc. When there's so many complaints and no responses, it can seem like the devs don't really care, whether that's true or not.
So, my suggestion is, make a section to let us know what's in the works for bug fixes. Something along the lines of "Hey, it's been brought to our attention that X isn't working properly, the cause seems to be Y and we're working on a fix, it could take a couple weeks." Something like that goes a long way towards building goodwill with your community.

why waste their time on that if people are just going to complain about it
Because then it's not legitimate complaining. Some people just like to whine, you can't get around that. Some people aren't going to know that it's been posted, but for a lot of people, that'll settle the issue. And those that know will link the post so that we know we're being listened to.
The two you've mentioned with regards to the basement challenges and broken totems have already been acknowledged in the Bug Reports section - it's just that people don't check and instantly make a new report, which then clogs up the system and takes longer to go through - as soon as I get a minute later today I will go through and close all the duplicate reports.
Known bugs are pretty much already acknowledged on that section of the sub-forum and the ones outstanding need to be checked, reproduced etc.
