It really feels like someone hates this game from the inside

They went out of their way to explain why Moris didn't need to be changed or remove and for the most part they were right, you didnt see them very often and with how the game generally is it actually made the survivor games more fun unless you just get tunneled and morid off first hook. Good thing they changed it so really he ONLY way to get use out of it is to tunnel because making moris into a brown offering does nothing to solve that problem, a problem that they keep saying doesn't need to be address but then they do some bullshit like nerfing discordance, who the hell is deciding priorities? The only thing this nerf does is make the bloodweb worse because there's really no reason to bring moris at all anymore, this effect is so weak that it might as well be base kit, in fact it SHOULD be base kit, it would also give a reason sell us extra moris but that idea is way too good apparently, probably wouldn't even piss anyone off which seems to be the mission statement of dbd

Ok so the only survivors happy are the brain dead yes men because it literally doesn't improve the survivor at all BUT this change comes with the added bonus of telling each and every killer to go ######### themselves. Moris really didn't need to change, and even tho keys are much stronger i don't really think they need to be changed either because of the infrequency of seeing them. Yeah its a free win for a SWF....but so is just playing the game normally most of the time. But WHY would you change one and not the other? The mantra of the community has been "nerf keys and moris" for years and this nerf comes out AFTER the patch. I mean barely anything was changed anyway, and with this lazy and of a nerf the obvious mirror for keys would just be working for one person so why wouldn't you change it? Again i don't think either needs to change but I dont see how they could be this tone deaf

Now im not saying someone got back to back mori games and impulsively made a nerf out of rage....but im getting flashbacks of the game director being bullied by survivors right before long requested survivor nerfs.

I HATE that I can deadass believe that's how this game is balanced

  • The only real problem with the change is timing. It did need a change, but instead of deciding to try and not face backlash by releasing it with a keys patch too they only did moris.

I feel like this is the main thing that has caused complaining, like if they waited the amount of posts regarding mori nerf being unfair/ect would be a lot less since a lot of players would be satisfied that both sides lost their strongest thing.

Also regarding whoever works on balance whether they hate it or not who knows but the people that approved of hillbillys addons like having a flashlight shining on you need to understand that situational things like that isn't what players want and they are borderline useless.

  • All anyone has to do is look at the joke that is called “hoarder” to understand these devs mindset.

“Hey guys, what do you think about a killer perk that helps only the survivors?”

”sounds good. Green light it, and while your at it nerf mori but leave keys alone. We just made a bunch of Christmas onesies we need to sell”

this is the mindset of these devs. I could care less about mori or keys. It is just laughable the logic they use when doing things.

According to Almo, they had to remove Hoarder's rarity decrease due to how it combatted against Plunder's instinct, however they are not done with the perk yet so we just need to wait and see what they do next with Hoarder

I mean they also deemed that a 10 second victor hold on lockers would be a counter to the locker cheese but 3 of those seconds are swapping to Charlotte and its not like every map has straightshots.

Sadly thats something that requires balance towards Charlotte's wake up or increasing the locker timer but idk

  • They should have gave mori's a full rework like keys. This way the change would have been better and they would have nerfed keys at the same time.

  • Changes don't get made impulsively, nerfs are not based on a single person's experience and every single decision gets discussed by the team.

And about Hoarder, this is what Almo said:

This is not how anything works. Your perspective on how game balance occurs is completely make-believe.

Also: The developers have flagged moris as issues in streams way, way prior to the nerf. They're pretty bad at surfacing their thoughts on official and easily accessible channels (streams don't count since those are not easily digested or searched), but it isn't like this is coming out of the blue.

Ok but what i don't understand how they aren't impulsive if they add a perk that apparently can't work in the game. Because if they did throw this (and blights chapter too) together in a few days it would at least make sense but if the entire team got together and created the twins and their perks how is it released, not finished, broken?

And same goes for the mori nerf, why are they nerfing moris after releasing a dumpster fire they still havent put out! And why in the year 2020 do they not see that the community just responses with more sweaty toxic killers and not playing the killers that were made for the sake of survivor fun?

I honestly can not believe these last 2 chapters have been directionless thoughtless because i know they can do better!

Regarding the Twins, they released a statement explaining why the chapter has been released in that state, I suggest you to read it:

We are a week out from the release of the 4.4.0 update, and we wanted to take a minute to acknowledge: This release brought more known issues and bugs than usual, and for that we would like to apologize. We’d like to pull back the curtain and offer some insight into our decision to release the update in its current state, as well as what our next steps are moving forward.

    Why?

To start, this past Chapter has been one of the most ambitious ones yet. The Twins are a very complex Killer to create , essentially working as two separate Killers. While we like to push the limits on what we can do with our new characters, that unfortunately brings with it more issues to be ironed out before their release.

In order to push an update, we need to create a version of the game and submit it for approval on each platform in advance. This process can take longer depending on how large the update is, with Chapter releases taking the longest to be approved. Unfortunately, this leaves us with less time than it seems to identify and resolve issues.

Between the Player Test Build (PTB) and live releases, we typically have about five days for identifying issues, making changes and, finally, finding and implementing fixes before we need to submit a version. Starting the PTB earlier is not ideal since the weeks leading up to the PTB are spent fine tuning and fixing bugs, so an earlier version would not be suitable for testing. In this window, we focus on the most pressing issues that were identified on the PTB. Once the update is submitted, we immediately start working on the first bugfix patch, which usually needs to be submitted a day or two after the update hits the live version of the game (this is why you may notice that the first bugfix patch focuses mostly on lingering issues from the PTB).

To address the elephant in the room: Why wasn’t the update delayed in that case? This is always a very difficult decision to make, delaying an update would give us some much-needed time to fix more issues that were reported during the PTB, but on the other hand, the feedback we receive from the live release is invaluable. The live release gives us visibility on other platforms, and the amount of feedback and reports we receive from the live update makes identifying, reproducing and fixing certain bugs much quicker. With the holidays quickly approaching, we want to make sure that we have room to release bugfix patches—the last thing we want is to release a big update at the last second and potentially leave the game in rough shape over the holidays.

There’s bound to be discussion about whether or not this was the right decision, and understandably so. We are taking feedback on this into consideration very seriously for the future.

    So what’s next?

The first bugfix patch is releasing today: This patch bundles twice as many bug fixes as a typical release, prioritizing the most critical and visible issues from the 4.4.0 update. Here’s a short list of some of the most noteworthy changes and fixes coming in today’s update:

    • Victor can now hold a Survivor in a locker
    • Reverted changes to Flashlight accuracy
    • Fixed missing visual feedback when blinding a Killer with a Flashlight
    • Fixed an issue that could cause Victor to get stuck in the ground when released
    • Fixed an issue that allowed Survivors to crawl out the exit gates when downed while Victor was on their back
    • Fixed an issue that caused Survivors to briefly see their own scratchmarks

We aim to release a second bugfix patch next week that will contain more fixes (perk issues, level design issues, and various improvements). As for the remaining major issues, we have been able to reproduce them internally and are working on fixes for each of them. We are aiming to fix as many of these issues as possible with the second bugfix patch, with any leftovers slotting into a future update.

Finally, we want to take a moment to say thank you for understanding and for reporting the issues you’ve come across. If you haven’t already, please remember to log into the game before December 10th 2PM Eastern to claim 300,000 free Bloodpoints. We know this doesn’t change any issues you have been facing, this is a token of appreciation for sticking with us as our team works on resolving any remaining known issues.

The Mori nerf was something they announced months ago, they said they were looking into changing Moris and Keys during a Q&A.

Also I don't understand your statement in regards of the Blight, I think that chapter is one of the greatest chapters they made, the Killer is fun to verse and to play as and the Survivor seems to be a fan favorite, I don't see any issues with that.

Thing here with their stated reasons for the twins, shows the 3 month schedule of releases of dlc is a bad thing. even everquest won't put out a full expansion every 6 months anymore, and final fantasy 14 doesn't put out a dlc sooner than 2 years! Sure dbd only has two characters to deal with and three perks each (not including the map as that's a different team) but here is something the devs should consider doing: 1) moving DLC chapter releases to 6 months, 2) put ptb up for 3-4 weeks and 3) offer some sort of rewards to entice players to go over and try the PTB so they can get better data than they do now.

here is why I suggest this:

#1: this allows for longer testing and better conditions when you release and doesn't constrain you in what you can release as well as allow for better bug fixing in between releases. This also gives you the ability to build your console releases and submit them without as much rushing.

#2: this simply allows better data collection and gives people better chances of testing even the unlikeliest combinations. Also would alleviate the stigma for those that go to the PTB to test the new perks on the old killers. Because right now litterally players state after the match is done, "LAME! you played X killer and not the new one! It will let people help test more than just a couple things and also help lighten the internal testing that doesn't seem to be doing so well these days (though is definitely needed).

#3: just to entice people to do the second and foster community relations.

I'm more upset that things were fast tracked and not thought of how the problems would hurt the community but more to get the dlc out there to get the money coming in (this is how it felt/feels to me and why i have yet to spend any shards for perks (if in shrine) or outright bought the dlc at this point.

I never said (and certainly do not believe) that they have been working on this change for years. I said it's been acknowledged as an issue prior, and thus did not come out of the blue.

Also, I have a lot of issues with the game's balance and the devs' overall priorities, as my post history clearly indicates.
