How to win the spirit pallet standoff?

I always have problems with spirit when it comes to this its not as bad as trapper putting a trap on a pallet but this is still annoying for me. I throw down pallet spirit stands still i predict shes phasing so i slowvault nope get smacked. Later in game same thing happens but this time i walk away she appears next to me and smacks me anyway. How am i supposed to counter this interaction? I know shes apparently anti loop like nurse but you can actually outskill nurse spirit its literally a 50/50.

  • Generally they will fake phasing the first time. This is true for the vast majority. Its an easy trick and one worth trying first, also it lets them observe you to see how you react to Spirit.

Its hard to say because it depends what loop you’re at. Sometimes its best to walk a little bit. Dont stand absolutely still or its easy for her to phase and get the hit. Move a little bit but not so much that if she is faking you’re out of position.

Its hard to explain the best advice I can give is to play Spirit a lot and get familiar with her. I can often guess a lot of her moves but its predictions from what Im expecting her to do based on my own playtime with her. Its really hard to describe whats going through my head its just sort of like a sixth sense.

  • The most useful thing you can do is to pray. Against that tactic there's little you can do which doesn't end in you getting smacked if the Spirit is experienced.

  • Just keep walking/running away from the pallet. Here's what happens:

    • If she's phasing, she still has to go around the pallet. You bought yourself some distance.
    • If she's not phasing, she still has to go around the pallet. You bought yourself some more distance.

So, best case-scenario, you gain some distance. Worst case-scenario, you gain less distance.

Now what happens if you engage in the mindgame:

    • If she's phasing, you're in the same situation, just on opposite sides.
    • If she's not phasing, you get hit.

    Best case-scenario, your situation doesn't improve. Worst case-scenario, you're #########.

  • Toss a coin in the air - Heads means she's phasing, tails means she's standing still.

Jokes aside - good players will stand still for a second or two to see how you react - do you stay where you are, do you try to make distance, or do you go towards the pallet. Then they'll phase and try to hit you. Therefore if you think you're versing a good spirit, try to fake them out for a second or two and then do what you actually intended to do.

If you think you're going against an average or a bad player, they'll spend a much longer time standing still, so one way to bait them out is fake as if you're running away from the tile (but don't go too far away). As soon as they see you moving they'll go after you. At that point run back to the tile and either re-initiate the stand-off or start a chase

    so fun and interactive, right?

  • Sometimes if you are ahead, try to drop a pallet (meanwhile she chasing you/phasing to you), and then walk a bit without running.. it will work. Especially if you have Iron Will, most of spirits will have Stridor but the chance you can loop her more are like 70% if you have deadhard also. The more you waste her time, the more your team does gens => she lose.

Also if you keep playing constantly against spirits, you'll learn to throw the pallet and stun her meanwhile she phasing to you, it's not easy but keep trying until you'll be able to figure out. And its so satisfying to do this to a spirit, sometimes they will just leave you alone gaining her respect and she will come to you only when you out-positioned.

(you will need to predict when she comes out of phase and also having a good headset helps, hearing her footsteps).

I know some ppl may dissagree but, just run in your build always Iron Will, its just a perk very good versus spirits.

  • Spine Chill helps a lot in this situations. After you throw if the perk has not deactivated she is probably faking phasewalk since going around the loop would force her to move her cone of vision, also if the perk doesnt deactivate you can move slowly out of her cone of vision to see if it goes off, inexperienced Spirits might be tricked into turning slightly to keep an eye on you, youll see her turning slowly. This is not 100% guaranteed to work but it does help a lot.

In my experience the best you can do is trying to reach the next loop walking, if she is faking it she will run and you can start running if she is not, walking wont show her exactly where you are and she will have to take a guess.

  • Walk towards her to bait out the fake, run the other way, count to 3, and walk away. You have absolutely no reliable input to go off of, so you're going off of a guess. Just cross your fingers.
