What if perks weren’t interchangeable?
One of the biggest issues with survivors I find with survivors, is that playing them is interchangeable as long as you have the teachables which makes the experience less unique for each one.
so what if teachables DIDNT exist?
that’s for survivors and killers?

Everyone would probably play Laurie with DS and maybe OoO and vault speed build or Bill for borrowed and unbreakable.
Low tier killers would become actually unusable, and taking pop + ruin away from everyone else would result in the fastest games you've ever seen.
they could always make base game perks that would kind of work towards areas of weakness? Idk
i like playing killer for the fact that each killer has a bit of a personality to them? Picking a killer is going to determine my play style and etc - whereas with survivor it doesn’t matter who I play unless I create different builds for everyone
It would feel very limiting, however it would unironically be very good for game balance since you only have to worry about that killer now when making the teachables lol
Honestly, we're too late in the game's development for a major change like this to be implemented. I don't see Survivors ever being more than re-skins.
Honestly ot probably would have been better for balance from the get go. Then we wouldn't have stuff like ds and unbreakable. Survivor choice would actually matter so they'd have more flavour.
I think the whole war between killer mains and survivor mains would end because they could balance it so each killer/survivor has a good perk and then some that assist said perks. It would make for interesting builds and etc
but that’s just my opinion lol
because currently people are making builds and stacking perks that are OP, whereas balancing perks bc they’re individual character bound would make so much sense?
That would actually make the game more boring though.
Oh and running against the same 5 meta perks isn’t? Lol
I could only see this working if killers were no longer allowed to see survivors in the Lobby. If survivors were not allowed to take teachables, their build would be highly predictable just by seeing who the survivors are. If you limit what perks can be used, you will very quickly see a 'survivor meta' in which only certain survivors with what could be considered the stronger perks, would be seen in games, making it even easier for the killer to predict and adjust their perks.
I'm not against balance changes, but you have to consider such things when it comes to trying to balance a new idea. I know for certain that info on perks is a big thing, thats why the spectator screen now blocks killer perks till all are dead, you can't really say it would be just as bad in reverse. Yes you will have 4 sets of perks, but chances are, as mentioned before, with a 'surv character meta' thats not going to be an issue.
So not against it, but some things would need to be adjusted on the killer side to compensate the information advantage.
You would probably almost always face Hillbillys, Hags, Nurses, and Plagues, since they have teachable perks that actually synergize with their power. Killers like Wraith and Clown would become basically unplayable. Everyone would use NOED.
All heck would break loose.
But it might actually be a good thing in the long run. Get the devs to stop using perks as band-aids for weird, poorly designed, or unfun mechanics and get people to stop relying on them so much.
Well, that or most people would rage quit and the game would die because tons of progression is suddenly yanked away from most of the playerbase and a great deal of fun and entertaining builds vanish.
I'd say, if they want to make survivors more unique, they can require 1 or 2 of the 4 perk slots to be filled by the characters' own perk, and the other 3 or 2 can be teachable. I don't think killers should be changed like this though, since they're already unique.
In that universe i dont see david king players 🤣
That's what Deathgarden did, and it's one reason why that game flopped. The grind was very unrewarding and didn't affect any other characters, failing to keep players playing. DbD probably would have died if it had that same issue.
I mean noone forces you to run meta perks. And you can't force anyone to run the perks you like.
It would be a realm of hellfire and despair
it could work for survivors but most would probably pick bill tbh, i personally use we`re gonna live forever then a perk randomizer. cant do that on killer though i dont wanna get bullied when going against stronger teams
