Please, please reduce the grind

This game is almost impossible to recommend to friends because the grind is incredibly bad and unavoidable, it’s really off putting for new players.

They’ll ask, “which survivor should I start with?” And I have to give an essay about using X character for Y perk, but then use this other character for Z perk, and so on and so on.

Grinding for perks, which let’s be honest make the biggest difference in terms of gameplay mechanics and playstyle, is like a part time job. And especially for new players, who can’t farm bloodpoints easily, it’s too much.

Please consider reducing perk tiers so there’s only one tier per perk, or even two. Or make bloodpoint gain faster. Or make bloodwebs smaller or less expensive. The grind would still be there but it wouldn’t feel so overwhelming.

  • I think one change that isn't that direct but would still help significantly would be adding more non-specific Perks and buffing the non-specific ones that already exist.

I think it's absurd that BHVR have pretty much acknowledged via game balance that Exhaustion perks are meta for Survivors and gen delay perks are meta for Killers, but there are zero non-Teachable Perks for either category.

We shouldn't be telling new players "well, here, go level up david king for dead hard", they should be able to start with whatever Survivor they want and pick up a neutral exhaustion perk from there, for example.

This would help new players but it would make the grind even worse long-term. If they added just 3 new base perks to help new players, that’s 9 extra perk tiers to unlock for every single character you level. If they added 5, it would be 15. This is part of the problem - every new chapter makes the grind more and more difficult because of all the new perks, most of which aren’t worth unlocking. And once you get your bloodwebs to level 50, they take quite a few bloodpoints to complete.

I totally agree about buffing the existing base perks though. The Kindred buff a few months back was amazing and it’s a really good perk for new players now (and experienced solos).

  • Just remove perk ranks, they are pointless and it's a product of the original system. Removing ranks solves the horrible grind issue. It makes things still have a grind, but it's not endless and overwhelming.
