How do the devs expect this new proposed Matchmaking system to work? "Fairness" is out the window.
As multiple people have touched on, there are too many bits of information and knowledge to have a system measure a level of skill for players in the game. Hiding this new system, especially with the timing of it being announced after rankings have been completely broken for months... it seems less like a fix, and more like hiding the problem.
Additionally, this entire concept is completely negated once again by Survive With Friends, which would throw off measured results by way of the players having a non-game-controlled advantage variable (comms), so any measured results of skill would be completely ineffectual and moot; some kind of penalty would have to exist to ensure consistent results.
How can the devs claim they'll be increasing "fairness" if a complete subversion for their new system exists? How can any noted level increase of said proposed fairness be measured if you hide all the details?

I honestly feel like this is a big ploy to hide the matchmaking issues. If they make this theoretical MMR system and hide the skill ratings/ranks, nobody can complain about unfair matches because nobody will know what they're facing. In every other game I play with any sort of skill based matchmaking, the skill ratings aren't hidden. This doesn't pass the smell test for me.
