Why the complain?

Hello out there

Please read everything before you post.

First of all i want to say that i am not here to offend anybody, but i am really curious what you opinion about this topic is, which is for some reason a bit overlooked. Also, i want you to correct me if i get something wrong.

Second this is not a Thread about emblemb or bloodpoints.

What we see are statistics on how certain Killer perform on avarage on all ranks. This means that it includes Solo and SWF incl Consol and PC.

If we excluse the nurse (she is a very hard killer to master and performs overall bad on console), the Killrate is between 55 and 70%. On redrank its even higher, up to 60-80%.

So, if i get this all right, this just means, that Killers are overall overpowered. I was always wondering as someone who plays Killer and Survivor equaly why so many Killer mains in the Forum complain. Dont we see here that we as a Killer get more then enough Kills? Actually TO MANY? I always had the feeling that i get to many kills, especially for the performance i delivere.

A balanced Matchmaking would be a 2K on average in my opinion

  • What are your thoughts about this?
  • Are Killer overpowered?
  • Is this statistic somehow missinterpretated by me?
  • Do you agree that a ballanced game would be an average of 2 kills?

Kind regards

Comments

  • These stats won't mean anything until ranks are an accurate representation of skill, you can see streamers with thousands of hours in the game 4k every single game because survivors are just not on the same level of play, even then, measuring how effective killers are on kills alone is a bad idea.

A more interesting statistic to see imo would be the amount of survivors and killers in red ranks.

  • This chart probably counts DCs as kills as well (the game does), so you can decrease the percentage of everything by 20.

And suddenly killers don't seem so powerful anymore.

The devs already stated multiple times that DCs are NOT taken into account in this data.

So unless we're ready to put our tinfoil hats on and call the devs liars, this is innacurate. Stop spreading misinformation, the forums are already toxic as is.

Considering how bizarrely common DCs are (esp before penalties), they have an impact on this data regardless.

Does it disregard games where someone DCs? Data inaccurate.

Does it still count the games where someone DCs? 3vs1 so killer has a major advantage.

They should hire a data scientist because this chart means absolutely nothing. People are drawing wrong conclusions based upon it, devs included.

If the DCs skew data it's in the favor of survivors even. If no matches with DCs are counted, the system only takes into account the games where no survivors DC, aka the games that are going relatively well for survivors in comparison.

So no, there's no possible interpretation of the data that makes survivors look good. I too believe the game is survivor sided at the highest level, but distorting data does nothing to prove your point.

The devs have the context we don't. Are the stats perfect? No. But stop pretending you know more than the devs because you don't.

But what if DCs happen more often in red/purple ranks? And survivors in the other ranks are just worse in general while playing M1 killer isn't that hard, so they get killed more often? Bam, statistical bias.

Global stats mean absolutely nothing, they should do it per rank bracket or something. Zoom in more. And then some more. There could be serious differences in kill rates between ranks, or different platforms, and you wouldn't be able to tell any of that from this data. It's meaningless and balancing your game based on it is a terrible idea.

Looking at how BHVR balances their game and how they actually suck at playing their own game I honestly doubt they know much more than I do. They are a small team and most likely don't have a dedicated data analyst for balancing. They're just winging it.

Depending on how they collect data, there is even a scary possibility that they can't zoom in more and this is all they have.

They have zoomed in. They have red ranks data for all killers. Zooming in any more than that is useless. People depip if they lose, so rank 1 data is extremely skewed, as we saw the first time they released data this year.

The harsh truth is that there's no more data to be had because most people aren't good at this game, even at red ranks. And that's exactly why balancing at a high level is a mistake in DBD.

Earlier this week, we asked you what statistics you would like to see. Since then, we have collected data on some of the most popular requests and designed some fancy graphics for them. There are a few things to note:

    • This data does not include the recent PTB.
    • Data involving rank was collected shortly before a rank reset (April 1st to April 7th).
    • These are very general statistics, so use caution before drawing any conclusions.

    Average Party Size

This is the overall average, between all ranks and platforms, of how many other Survivors players are queuing up with. More than half of the total Survivors are playing solo, while only 3-6% are playing in a full Survive With Friends group. This is based on the group size out of the total number of matches.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/771/II0BH5BS6HP0.jpg

    Party Size Survival Rate

This is the average chance of Survival per Survivor depending on the size of the Survive With Friends group they are playing in. This is an average between all ranks on all platforms.

    Survival Rate by Rank

This graph shows the average rate of survival per Survivor at any given rank, per platform. Please note: The data collected is using your rank after the match, so players who depipped from rank 1 down to rank 2 would appear as rank 2 for our purposes. This is likely the reason why you'll notice a large gap between the survival rate of rank 1 and rank 2: Players who survived were more likely to pip and maintain their rank, while those who died were more likely to depip and lose their rank.

This data was also collected between April 1st and April 7th, after the pipping thresholds were originally changed but before they were later tweaked to be more forgiving for Survivors. Because of that, the statistics at this rank are from a small sample size consisting solely of the best players that could maintain rank 1 with the strict pipping conditions.

    Average Game Length

This graph shows the average game length at any given rank for each platform. This is the time from the start of the match until the final Survivor either escapes or is sacrificed.

    Most Popular Killer by Rank

This chart shows which Killer is the most popular depending on rank, per platform. For example, on PC from rank 1-4, nurse is the most popular Killer, while Hillbilly tends to be more popular from rank 5-12. The highest overall usage for any Killer at a given rank is the Nurse at rank 1, coming in at 22.39%.

    Highest and Lowest Kill Rates

This chart shows the deadliest (yellow) and least deadly (red) Killers per platform. These stats are an average for all ranks. Since there are four Survivors, a 50% kill rate equates to two Survivors escaping and two Survivors dying.

    Most Used Perks (Survivor)

This chart shows the most popular Survivor perks based on rank ranges between all platforms. We decided not to display ranks 13-20 as they tend to be more random (newer, lower ranked players tend to use whichever perks they have rather than picking what they want specifically). The numbers displayed are the percentage that perk is used of all perks used at that rank.

    Most Used Perks (Killer)

This chart shows the most popular Killer perks based on rank ranges between all platforms. Like the Survivor perks above, we decided not to show ranks 13-20. The number displayed are a percentage of the total perks used at that rank range.

Is there something that confuses you? Maybe you'd like to know a more precise number on one of these stats? I'll be doing a live Q&A in the official Dead by Daylight Discord server tomorrow at 2PM EST.

If you are not in the Official Discord server, you can join here: https://discord.gg/549m9NT

The Q&A will take place in the #game-discussion channel.

Here they did "survival rate by rank". People freaked out when they saw the 70ish% for rank 1, but the numbers work like that because when people die they most likely depip and go to rank 2, so the data was skewed towards survivors who didn't depip. When they examined the data that took into account survivors who were rank 1 before the games, the escape rate fell to 43% iirc.

Also Killer DC even when they definitly had the potential chance to get at least 1-2 kills.

And if survivor DC, many Killer tend to give last guy hatch, which evens this up a but.

I rarely see a killer give someone the hatch. Neither do I. No mercy for those teabagging, flashlight clicking, pallet stunning loopers. Besides, bloodpoints.

  • As a survivor I haven't been given the hatch once in like 200 hours of surviving. Soooo...

Happened to a friend of mine once while we were playing.

I give it pretty much all the time and i just got it from the killer.

  • I don't try to rank up I just do. And with the new system, it's harder to do not rank up and not throw a huge amount of games and waste a huge amount of time. I'm sitting at rank 4 in spite of myself because while I think there should be an unranked mode, I don't play games to lose either. So not so simple.
