Skilled Huntress - what the ****?

Why is this so grindy?

I am at IIRC 94/97 achievements and one of the three i need is this one. I’ve greatly enjoyed getting the other achievements because they come naturally. For example today I got the whiffing one where you make a killer miss and then window vault. I also need the Pig trapping survivors one but that one just flows naturally with playing killer.

This one though... it doesn’t make sense. You have to purposely let someone injured get far away and then hope you hit them and hope you’re 24 meters or more away. It’s so
bad that I’ve started hooking people and then sitting aways from the hook with iredescent heads and my hatchet cocked and ready and then I just fire at the rescued hook and hope to hit one of them. And it works! It’s much easier and quicker than trying to get this stupid thing organically. On most maps you don’t have much chance at getting 24 meters of free space to hit a hatchet.

So anyone got some pointers?

  • Honestly big maps like rotten fields, wrecker's yard and blood lodge coupled with spray and pray. I don't have it myself but that makes the most sense to me.
  • That is a tough ass achievement. I main Huntress for a couple of seasons and only have 15 at most. You have to commit to strategies like yours to get that, but it’s gonna take lots of time

Protip: That's not helpful to anyone and you're being an ######### for no reason. Just because you may think it's stupid doesn't make it universally stupid.

  • The whole game is a huge grind
Basically there is no ging else to do^^

No stupid achievements are stupid and if you play game for achievements you should find a new hobby. They were literally put there to make completionists grind on a game for as long as possible.

Protip: (again) Your opinions aren't universal and you obviously did not take anything from my last message into consideration. They could be playing the game and just want the achievements as a side thing. And if they did buy the game for achievements then who are you to judge? You're some ######### on a video game forum, go find a new hobby.

LOL achievements are there to sucker people into playing the game more than they normally would. It's not an opinion, it's basic psychology. I've seen people waste hundreds of hours to get achievements in games they don't even enjoy just for the sake of getting them all. If you wanna support that kind of BS go ahead.

Advertisements sucker people into buying or playing things at all. Comfortable beds sucker people into sleeping more than they would. Good tasting food suckers people into eating more than they would. Do you hear how ######### stupid that sounds? Achievements may be a waste of time in your eyes but some people like them. They like the satisfaction of completing them. And if the game didn't have them I bet my life that people would be asking for them. Just because you have a specific view on them DOESN'T MAKE IT A FACT! We get that you're an #########, you don't have to drive the point home.

  • The achievement was just named improperly. It was supposed to be "Godly Huntress."

  • What’s Ironic is that he try’s making the point that it makes you play longer then usual, when this game has no end. You can play this game forever with or without Trophy’s, as a matter of fact, This games trophy’s spice up the formula most of the time.

Psychology is based on facts and science. You can pretend otherwise, but the truth is achievements are there to induce a psychological effect. The difference between them and your examples is that people need to eat food and sleep, and that most of these things that are advertised have real world value. Achievements do not, they are they specifically to make you want to play more than you normally would, or play in ways that you normally wouldn't. They are in the same category as loot boxes but not as egregious about it.

If you want some advice here it is: Play Huntress a lot and go for long range hatchets. That's all there is too it. OP wants either an easy way to get the achievement or for the achievement to be made easier just so he can have it. It's a completionist mentality that if they want it but it's too hard then it should be easier because they want it. Either just put in the time to do it or stop complaining it's too hard and move on.

PS. Only people that ask for achievements are people that play games only for achievements. Some people refuse to play games if they can't get achievements. That should tell you something right there about the psychology of them.

@NegativeNightmare There are definitely people out there playing DBD that only played for achievements. Once they got them all they move on to another game, only coming back to DBD when new achievements are added.

You guys get all bent out of shape from an obvious joke response. Stop taking life so seriously you won't get out alive.

The point is that some people LIKE to get achievements/trophies in a game. Keeps it fresh when you think “okay this round I’m going to do the Adept Shape trophy”. Of course it makes you play differently but it also helps you adapt to changes and keeps the game from being too monotonous. You don’t have to go sour on people who want to get trophies, maybe YOU don’y care but some people may and who is anybody to tell them otherwise?

Or, achievements can give fans of a game new ways to play a game they’d be playing anyway. I have over a thousand hours on the game on Xbone and probably 30 hours on PC. I didn’t even start going for achievements until a couple weeks ago. If they weren’t in the game, I’d still be playing.

Your opinion on achievements is fine, but the negativity, anger, and douchebaggery regarding DbD achievements is unwarranted. This isn’t one of those games where people can pick it up for a quick 1000GS. They’re grindy and require a good time investment. Idgaf if an achievement is grindy or hard. Huntress has one where you have to throw 1,000 hatchets. Pig has one where you have to attach 150 traps. There’s one for making a killer miss and then vaulting 50 times. Open 100 chests. Open 35 gates. Chainsaw 100 people with LF. Etc etc. But those are fine because they come naturally while playing. This one doesn’t just change your play style but makes you actively try to lose.

On PC where Huntress is infinitely easier to use, it’s 20 downs. On console where aiming is much tougher, 100. Doesn’t make sense.
  • @Well_Placed_HexTotem I would venture to say that it might have to do with the way microsoft handles achievements...They may have had to, more or less, put in the achievement before they really interally finalized the number, but couldn't change it afterwards. Either way, even 20 seems kind of insane for what the achievement asks. I play huntress a lot, and haven't gotten a single one in this category.

  • I play this game on steam and PS4 so why i steam it's only 20 but on ps4 it 100?

Agree, achievements dont this game suck, they dont give you any reward if you have all them
