I enjoy the irony of survivors complaining about slugging to prevent the hatch.

Meanwhile nearly every game involves survivors 99ing exit gates to prevent the EGC.

I suppose it's only "unfair" and "unfun" when killers manipulate the triggers for an endgame situation to keep the game in more favourable circumstances for themselves.

It's sweaty when the killer wants a 4k, but when survivors want to ensure everyone gets out safely without putting anyone on a clock or risking getting caught out by the timer themselves, that's just playing the game.

Bloodwarden is a part of it but it certainly isn't the entire reason. Many survivors 99 the gates then run off back into the trial to mess with the killer, burn as much of their flashlight as possible, show that they can run around a safe pallet for as long as possible, and then instantly open the gate and leave when they're good and ready.

Blood Warden is not that threatening, and can be seen before even entering the gate which gives you plenty of heads up to avoid revealing yourself to the killer and you can just chill behind a rock for a minute.

EGC was designed to create pressure in the endgame in order to encourage survivors to leave as soon as possible, and you're lying to yourself if you think 99ing gates isn't at least partially motivated by circumventing that goal. It's like saying "oh us killers, yeah we ONLY slug for the 4k to protect against Left Behind!"

I mean that's more a problem of toxicity than egc.

How often do you even see bloodwarden?

    I never see it.

  • For what it's worth, as a survivor, I have zero problems with either slugging for the 4k or 99ing the gates.

I'm not saying either is bad behaviour, I just find it funny that it's so common to have a go at killers for doing basically the same thing survivors do to secure a better outcome at the end.

Yeah, I agree. The double standards get a bit ridiculous sometimes, on both sides.

And yet, people still don't open the gates even after the killer hooks the guy.

  • A couple observations.

    1) They are not perfectly comparable scenarios. In the case of the 99'd gates, the killer has the option to trigger EGC by opening the gate, if they're pissed about the survivors messing around. In the case of the slug to prevent the hatch for the last survivor, and I suppose you mean when the gates aren't powered which is a different scenario altogheter, then the survivors don't have the same option to force EGC barring a DC, which will get punished soon.

    2) Slugging is a perfectly viable and legal tactic. It doesn't mean it's a fun one, though. Nobody likes to get slugged just they don't like being on hook. You're essentially waiting until you get help, but you're not doing anything or very little gaming-wise. This is compounded by the fact that it takes 4 minutes to bleed out on the ground, which is boring as hell. If they lowered the bleed-out time to 2 minutes to match the sacrifice sequence, that would probably help to make these situations more bearable.

if a killer slugs for a 4K - the game will potentially last 5-10 minutes longer for 400ish bloodpoints base, nothing else, except some emblem but serious who cares about rank, especially when it’s a insignificant amount of 1 emblem value max

99% doors - prevents bloodwarden, can allow you to save other survivors so they can escape, which is 1500+ bloodpoints only including saving bloodpoints as well

    Survivor found = 400

    Hit = 300

    Caught! = 500

    Sacrifice Completed = 200

That's minimum 1400 points if the survivor was downed in 1 hit, not 2, and your chase was instantly over and gave no chase points.

If you shut the hatch before hooking the last one you also get bonus "Late" points.

Survivors also use 99ing to save allies from hooks and heal them up to be nice and safe without being on the EGC timer under pressure. If the only "counter" is to go to the end of the map to open a gate yourself, you're freely handing them the unhook and time to go to the other gate, or you're opening a gate in borrowed time range.

Opening the gate as killer is a surrender that almost guarantees forfeiting anything else you could get. It's equivalent to the not-slugged survivor just walking to the killer.

You can get max hunter and brutality before last survivor, and if every survivor has been 3 hooked except the 1 left, the late sacrifice is irrelevant since you’ll be at 7600 sacrifice

You can max altruism far more easily before 5 gens are done. So?

I never said that you should. I was replying to your points that survivors 99 to mess around and that EGC was introduced to encourage survivors to leave (see below).

Not likely, compared to killer it’s less likely, everything a killer does gives bloodpoints only to them, it’s not split up between 3 other people, and let’s be honest it’s very common knowledge that a killer will get way more points than a survivor unless they do terrible so then they don’t deserve many points then, 4 survivors, 8000 altruism each, if a survivor isn’t dead on hook by end game, most likely they didn’t get chased therefore the other survivors left were the ones that got chased during the game so they don’t have much altruism and need the saves, or the killer did terrible and didn’t get many hooks so no one has altruism points

You can't just assume that the killer has every category maxed out and that the survivor has done no altruism to make your point. In fact the killer also gains deviousness which MANY killers are notorious for being unrealistic to max out in most games for both a 4k, and if they use their power in the last chase.

Point is, both sides have a substantial amount of bloodpoints that can potentially gain from keeping the game in their favour. It's not a discrepancy that makes one acceptable if the other is not, or vice versa.

  • I have no complaints I just run unbreakable

4K is the objective of the killer, as escaping is the objective of survivors.

As a killer, why would I say "I'm fine with 3K, let the last one escape" ? No way ! I'll do what it takes to complete the task.

Would a survivor say "Ok, I'm glad I repaired some gens, now you can sacrifice me" ? I don't think so.

And about the supposed waste of time, slugging for 4K doesn't take that long because it's done when both survivors are together, otherwise it's uneffective. So you down one, chase/down/hook the 2nd, and get back to the 1st. It's far shorter than when someone's hiding beside the hatch waiting for the 3rd sacrifice.

  • Honestly the fact that you can 99% the gates is rather stupid. I would say they should regrade to the last light that got lit up if they are not being touched. so 25%, 50%, 75%. That would solve this issue and still give Survivors something.

  • You know, you can open the exitgates by yourself if you want that the EGC to start. Also killers tend to camp hooked survivors when EGC starts to secure a kill. So theres mostly no more chance to rescue a survivor on a hook if EGC started. Besides that, I would never open Exitgates if someone is in a chase and i dont know if he makes it out, due to bloodwarden, as long as their is a chance that the killer could have it.

I guess I'll consider myself lucky because I've literally never had this happen to me, and never seen it happen as a survivor.

"Many" do this? Idk about that.

A lot of survivors are just hypocrites or are unfortunately incredibly biased. Nothing new, unfortunately, but gives a lot of decent/good survivors a real bad stereotype.

Unbreakable has now made it into the stereotypical tryhard survivor build? I must have missed the memo

The EGC was made to end games faster. It was not ment for killers to help them get kills. That is the real irony here. You think for EGC as of a weapon but in reality its real purpose is just to end the game in short time, nothing else. Just for the record EGC was introduced recently. Hatch camping/ slugging has been here since the begining. If anything the killers are the one who has been absuing this for years while the suvivors are merely starting to fight back.

  • I'm not sure why you listed it with other meta and very strong perks then. Maybe a typo.

Wow, can you make it any more obvious that you don't play killer. Getting a 4K alone rewards 2500 bloodpoints not including chase points, hit points, and hook points from the 4th survivor. And boy is that some wild close minded bias saying that getting saves are worthwhile and getting kills are pointless.
