Bloodlust is detrimental to the game.

I think we can all agree that "Bloodlust" is an outdated mechanic that was only implemented as a band-aid fix for infinite loops. Now that most, if not all, true infinite loops are gone.. It's high time that the bloodlust mechanic is completely removed or at the very least toned down drastically as it is a detriment to the game as a whole.

While the mechanic itself is just horrible as the very reason for its addition has since been removed/fixed, it becomes a real problem when a killer actively abuses it to end chases or even down survivors. It pretty much rewards killers for playing poorly and reduces the potential for mind games from the survivor side of a chase.

Let's reward the players that play it smart and play it good. What are your thoughts on this?

  • It should stay until all maps are fixed. I despise blood lust but we need to wait for everything to be good before we get rid of the stupid mechanic we call blood lust imo.

  • From what I can gather, there are still too many maps that need the band-aid for it to be a good idea to remove Bloodlust. Fix those maps, and then bloodlust is likely safe to remove.

    I remember what the game was like before bloodlust was a mechanic in the game. It was a terrible time. As killer even though you move faster than survivor you'd frequently end up in situations where you couldn't catch up to someone even with a lunge. It made looping situations far longer than they should have been and it made infinites worse back then.

    We have less true infinites, but we still have some insanely long loops. Bloodlust is the only way that killers can manage those situations. Also a good outplay should probably include the survive escaping LOS and breaking chase entirely. if your in a chase long enough for a killer to get bloodlust 2 or 3 then you've done something wrong. Also if you want to counter bloodlust just start dropping palettes. Even if you don't hit you can still for them to play the loop till they have no choice but to break it. Breaking a palette resets bloodlust.

  • Simply make bloodlust only work on the unbalanced maps

  • There's still maps that need a bit of a rework.

    I'm pretty sure the long term goal of the devs is to change every map in such a way that bloodlust is no longer needed, but for now they can't really take it out.

    I'd totally be up for trying it out as I am curious exactly how they'd play without bloodlust, but that would be a thing to test in PTB of course. Would be sorta weird to have a game mechanic that's active on some maps and inactive on others.

  • I like the bloodlust mechanic. I think it's appropriate that the longer a chase goes on, the more dangerous it becomes for the survivor.

    You haven't really explained exactly why you believe it's detrimental to the game, only that you believe it to be outdated or unnecessary. Why is it a detriment to the game? What makes it "horrible"? How is employing a game mechanic to its full potential "abuse"? In what way does it reward killers for playing poorly? How is it not good or smart to use bloodlust strategically in order to close a chase?

    It's detrimental to the game because it's a crutch that gives killers hits after being outplayed over and over again. Same as before. You can just never kick a pallet and run in a straight line with no mind games or skill and get a hit because lol I got faster. Good killers typically get hits before bloodlust by outplaying the survivor not with a crutch speed boost. It's not smart to rely on it because the amount of time it takes you to stack bloodlust.

    • Balanced Landing is still not nerfed;
    • Strong loops are still exist;
    • Majority of the maps are "kryptonite" for a lot m1 killers;

    Once the these points are fixed, sure.

    While I agree that Bloodlust shouldn't be a thing on Badham and Hawkins, Peanits have stated that they're not gonna remove Bloodlust from those maps cause "It'd confuse new players, why some maps have the mechanic and others don't"

    SkeletalElite pretty much summed it all up.

    The first point on that list is now false.
