Rank Reset - what is the point?
I really don't understand the point of this rank reset thing, (this is my first one, i started playing on last reset) upto now i've been sitting at rank 8-10 on killer and 80-90% of my games were pretty even, 4k was a rare thing as was 4 escapes, most game were fun and fairly well balanced.
However since reset, i've run into teams who are clearly far more skilled than me over and over again. not a single match today has landed me more than 1k, most have been 4 escaped.
I just don't understand why this reset is even a thing?

The rank system doesn't base itself on a set level of skill. Whether you rank up or down is based on who you go up against and both your skill levels. If rank reset doesn't happen the really good players will rank up to red ranks first. Then behind them the mediocre will all rank up and then the unskilled. At the end you will have everyone in the purple/red ranks with nothing seperating their actual skill.
It's part of an old system that needs to be redone, as it means almost nothing right now yet it causes problems anyways with the constant resetting.
I guess i best just avoid playing dbd for a week after reset then, till it evens out again.
This game has a lot of rank 21s even in red ranks. What ranks do is it brings false confidence and in reality most of the randoms will play like potatoes no matter the rank. Until they will come up with system that works idk what's the point.
Takes time for those potatoes to get up in rank unless boosted by friends or boosted swfs to begin with. Even so, getting rid of the rank system would constantly pair skilled players against non skilled players. This would disincentivize any unskilled player from playing in the future.

There's no reason to rank up and put yourself in annoying lobbies.
It already happens when someone is coming back after a long break. Former rank 1 killer with 5k hours vs Claudettes with 1h on record...There are also smurfs and derankers and it happens on both sides. It's a joke like the whole game.
