As long as you don't attempt the skill check (don't press space/whatever button at all), you can save it for as long as the timer is active, no matter what hook state you're on.
Yes, but you cannot press Space (or the Dedicated Servers decide that you did not press Space, when you actually hit Space :> ).
I would not recommend it tho, it might be possible that you will not get a chance after your second Hook, because maybe nobody will get you.
Yes, but I highly discourage you to do it. If you have the chance to use it once, it doesn’t mean it will happen again.
Like Aven_Fallen said, you can do it, but it's not recommended anymore. Most killers are always aware of the DS possibility and if they made the mistake of picking you up too soon once, there's no chance they'll do it again. Or even that they'll down you within the time frame a second time.
