Fog Vials needed to be like every other item where it had limited charges and balanced around being limited. I personally feel like any survivor resource that is made infinitely usable is bound to end up largely useless since stacking usually ends up being the core problem.
It's just a shame BHVR prefers to double nerf rather than experiment with changes.
Yeah, the double nerf was really unneeded. I do hope they try to experiment more to find something that works instead of leaving these to rot

I agree that fog vials need some sort of tweak. They were really fun to use but feel a bit too nerfed. I think that they should either keep the limited charges or keep the nerfed opacity, not both. Or they could come up with some other solution. They just feel a teeny bit too useless at the moment.
Exactly, there needs to be something. I don't want to see an item that was fun (and added more challenge on killer side) stay as junk. Also makes me worried for the potential of other new items down the line if this is how bad things get gutted. :(

@SoGo said:
They have options.
They can either revert them to being infinite, or revert the opacity.
Alongside these changes:
- Return the range to 10 meters.
- Make it so EVERY killer works in the cloud.
- Ensure that the effect is relatively same on every map.
I think there's a better middle ground at the very least. Could even put the 10 meter on the iri addon to make it worth it.
They really need to do something here, especially since people already want them removed from the bloodweb to avoid "bloat".
If that isn't telling that the vials need a rework, then I don't know what is. 😬 -
@OnryosTapeRentals said:
Fog Vials were kind of spammable on release, and when combined with the Iri add-on could be quite a nuisance if multiple survivors had them, so I understand why they received changes. That being said, the changes have gone so overboard that these items are now useless.
IMO, they should either:
- Revert the charge nerf but keep the reduced opacity allowing for infinite uses but weaker LoS blocking.
- Or revert the opacity nerf but keep the limited number of uses, allowing for stronger LoS blocking when used but they need to be used wisely. Although only 2 uses is very stingy, they should at least double that.
I agree, I'm glad they wanted to tweak them too but yeah this is overkill!
That might be a decent tradeoff, or at least a middle ground between the new opacity and old one.
Because yeah, 2 is way too stingy for charges either way 😭 -

Thank you! Put my all into this one 😊

I thought I was one of the few, glad (yet sad) to know I'm not alone.
I picked up some of the survivors I didn't have with shards and trying to adept some has been awful.
So many toxic people and even killers bringing moris into event 😑
I got a NOED/Blood Warden Ghoul when before that I had a slugging Oni and another Ghoul that hook camped me to death (on top of tombstone Myers). Not to mention the solo q teammate pain at times (like a teammate actually body blocked me on purpose).
I actually kinda liked the Twisted Masquerade (was a bit sad it's going away) and I can't even have fun in it as survivor before it's gone. ☹️ -

Pretty sure it's because you keep taking everything they and others have said to you in bad faith.
I am absolutely not. Quite the opposite, I am trying to understand the situation. I'm not here to "have faith" in whatever story you just happen to tell me. How can I tell that you are not trolling me? I am not saying you are, but you could be. So I give you the opportunity to help me understand what's going on.
I'm in NA I I've continued to see bad behavior
Don't tell, show me, I've never seen any evidence of it. I am not trolling you when I tell you that I do not experience any of those problems you mention. Is there 1 in 50 games that really bad? Yeah sure man it's soloQ what do you expect. It seems that you experience not 1 in 50 but what… 45 in 50? More? I cannot believe you because this claim seems ridiculously exaggerated to me because of the vast difference in experience.
So have many others
No one wants the game to be in this state
I don't want the game to be in a bad state. I don't believe that it is, other than the terrible package loss issues and several other lackluster things we could argue about forever…
Yesterday I loaded into Rotten Fields on my P0 Quentin, no perks, no items. Just me in my first match of the day and what do I get? Clown it was, and I gotta say I have my reservations going against this Killer, it is generally an uncomfortable experience to me personally. Which is amazing, that is really great character design because this is exactly what it is supposed to feel like.
To cut a long story short I managed to loop the Killer for 3 gens, everyone got out since at the end the Clown DC'd. We had an amazing chat at the end, added eachother as steam friends and played several public and custom matches together.
So not only is my experience in Dead by Daylight not bad, but it's average at worst and incredibly amazing and rewarding at its best.
If I approach the game with the mindset of "I'm going to get mistreated again" then oh boy I believe that that can lead to a great variety of miserable experiences.
You keep failing to see anything from our perspective
How do you think would I magically be able so see from your perspective? Let us for an exercise try and have you see things from my perspective, do you agree to at least try it?
When you keep saying how "this community is making up stories" and "whining and complaining" etc. I hate to say, it makes you sound arrogant and unwilling to be understanding of others. Why would we want to keep discussing things with you if it feels like you aren't listening?
That is valid criticism that I will address by explaining that "this community" i.e. the particular individuals who come here to read or discuss, has among it people who are reporting experiences that I find hard to believe since my experience is so vastly different. I want to understand, please help me to do so is all I can say.
What I cannot do is having faith in anything you tell me. This is the soapbox I talked about in my previous post. I'm not here to join a religion. If there is a problem, show us.
Pages in and you keep dismissing our concerns and experiences of the game.
I am asking for evidence beyond hearsay.
If there are so many people here doing upvotes and whatnot, is there one of you who can deliver anything that could reasonably be considered substantial evidence to this? I am patient, I've got time. One month, two months, just send me a PM on this forum and we do it in private if you do not wish to do it here.
Why do I have to prove anything to you, a random stranger? You are taking things in bad faith if you need me to literally show you where I live. You are assuming things from the start. That's why we can't have a proper discussion with you.
And no, you aren't trying to understand anyone if you keep dismissing their experiences with "Well, it never happened to me so it must not be as bad as you say it is". That's like if I had a friend next door tell me they were being stalked in our area and my response was "It hasn't happened to me here, so it doesn't sound like a problem"
You are ignoring the experiences of other people.
That's why I mentioned before that you need to try and put yourself in others shoes—I sincerely mean that.
I'm not even trying to say this in a rude way, but none of us can actually really talk to you with the way you assume things. The discussion is already over before it began. -

Because there's absolutely no situation where this is necessary to win in 2025 DbD.
Depends on what you mean by 'necessary' and 'win'.
Since 2019 I have personally had very few soloQ matches where a 4 man slug was executed to win, and those were hooked, the game was finished. I was new back then, like many were. Even rarer were those games that I personally would categorize as griefing, namely those where this 4 man slug lead to us bleeding out for the sake of it. Very, very few in my countless matches. Maybe 15,… 20 of those thousands over 6 years.
I quickly learned that for a 4 man slug to occur precisely 2 factors must be present.
A) The killer wants to employ this strategy (for whatever reason)
B) The survivors give him the opportunity
A killer can't just suddenly create this Gamestate without any substantial effort OR substantial misplay by the survivor team.
4 megs on a gen in a tight indoor map with an undetectable Bubba… You would do it, admit it. That is the game, you messed up and the entity punishes you for it. Guess what, I laugh about myself, about this situation. I can still hear Bubba's cute noises he makes when he sweeps or throws a tantum while the entity takes me away to my next trial. I won, that was silly and fun.
But all of that is probably meaningless to you. Maybe you wouldn't be that Bubba. In that case I am sorry, while there are still chill and memey lobbies out there, you really cannot reasonably expect them to be anywhere regular. In this case I would suggest looking for a community of like minded people, on discord for example and arrange custom matches. I'm serious, try it it's fun.
The overwhelming majority of the playerbase (rightly) recognise this as malicious behaviour
What does this mean? That the overwhelming majority recognizes this and does not partake in it?
Or does the overwhelming majority recognize it and some of that percentage actively do it? If so then give me your best guesstimate.
In case this overwhelming majority is against it, then it is statistically unlikely that this occurring anywhere near as often to you personally as it seems to me you're making it out to be. And that is congruent with my experience. It's there, yeah sure I give you that.
If you still insist on claiming that this is happening all the time to you then I fear that we are at an impasse unless you are willing to deliver hard evidence in form of handing over a continuous recording of your play sessions or even stream them.
If you manage to prove this to me in such a way that it is absolutely crystal clear that this is all your DBD experience is and there is nothing at all you can do about it then I am open to believe you at once.
@Interrupt_Vector said:

Well if you don't care then what are you trying to achieve here? Isn't that somewhat the equivalent of standing on a soapbox?
If you don't really care to prove to me that against statistical odds you have this experience then there is like I said, nothing that I can do. I am not sure how this is meant to help anybody or improve anything, other than maybe serving for your own entertainment I suppose.
But you see how this might look? If you believe that you somehow beat the odds and are trapped in some sort of ELO hell then you gotta contact BHVR Support. At this point, all this discussion does is exacerbate an overall uncomfortable atmosphere that serves no purpose, since there is no clear definition of certain key factors, unsubstantiated statements and a lack of care on your part.
I'm really trying to see your point here, I hope you know this.
Pretty sure it's because you keep taking everything they and others have said to you in bad faith.
I'm in NA I I've continued to see bad behavior in this event and outside of it lately. So have many others. No one wants the game to be in this state where it's easy for someone to continually grief and prevent others from participating in play. You keep failing to see anything from our perspective and frankly, it seems quite useless to talk to you about any of it. As rude as that sounds.
When you keep saying how "this community is making up stories" and "whining and complaining" etc. I hate to say, it makes you sound arrogant and unwilling to be understanding of others. Why would we want to keep discussing things with you if it feels like you aren't listening?Pages in and you keep dismissing our concerns and experiences of the game. Did you conveniently skip over this part: "they shouldn't be doing that, of course"?
And I don't know how many times it needs to be said, but we're NOT talking about a killer leaving you on the ground for 30 seconds to chase away someone else nearby. Or leaving someone slugged if they gave them a free down next to a hooked survivor. Or any other scenario where temporarily slugging a survivor makes sense. So enough with the whole "it's just the killer playing strategically" defense.
We're discussing killers bleeding out the WHOLE team and humping you on the ground for 4 minutes and other such nonsense. Which is absolutely NOT necessary under any circumstances in modern DbD and is literally ONLY done for the purposes of griefing/trolling. It's not even disputable. If you're going into games with an inflammatory username, leaving every survivor slugged with the nodding and WSing after a down.
You're. not. playing. strategically. You're griefing.
It's not about the killer winning, it's about the killer spending 4 minutes rubbing in the win instead of just letting us move on. Great, you've got us all downed. Now just hook us and let us move on and everyone is happy. There's no viable reason other than being a troll to spend 4 minutes after you've won walking between the slugged bodies of your opponents.
Unless you're someone who does that kind of thing, I don't see any reason to be defending it 🤷♂️
I think a lot of the people defending slugging/tunneling keep skipping over that part. :\
No one has been talking about leaving someone on the ground for a few seconds, we've all been talking about crappy griefing behavior that upsets regular play. The game shouldn't have to be like this. Seems to continuously get overlooked throughout this whole discussion.
How people go about the win matters in any game involving other people. If I'm in a situation where someone actively prevents me from playing, why would I ever want to do that to someone else? Making others miserable is a sure fire way to make sure no one wants to play with you at all. It's just basic life experience. You can still play to win and respect others, some people just aren't grasping that. -

I was one of the people who asked what was happing during the match. I wasn't doing it in a way to try and find a justification. I was just impressed you all got the gens done while a killer was playing like that.
While I agree that is almost no reason to slug all 4 players sometime a screenshot doesn't tell a whole story. I just had a game on Toba Landing and this survivor that had boil over kept running to the top of the spaceship. I tired to hook but the would wiggle free and run back up. After the fifth time of trying to reach a hook I downed the and let. That person could post a picture claiming "Another slugging killer!" I don't know maybe people still think what I did was uncalled for. I don't think so.
But I see the point too that when he see crappy behavior the instantly claim "Oh, you must have did something to deserve it" that's BS.
I think you meant to reply to the OP instead of me?

Can confirm: that person wasn't whining. They just expressed that things like tunneling/proxy camping in the early game can completely ruin someone's match for essentially no other reason than someone was afraid they might not win at a game. And that's not because the person doing it might not be able to participate, it's because they might not outright win. Meanwhile, they deny one person the ability to enjoy the game at all, making them unable to participate in most aspects of the game and instead essentially guaranteeing that they can't survive the match.
Why would someone pay money for a game when that's going to happen? Also, why would someone even wait for a match when that's going to happen? It becomes a waste of time and money.
Also, this isn't a case of emotional blackmail. That person is trying to discuss how those actions make people feel. That's similar to talking about how bullying makes people feel, and why it shouldn't be done. That's different than emotional blackmail, which is a dishonest attempt at using guilt to manipulate people into doing things. This is not a case of dishonesty for such a purpose.
Thanks for being understanding. And yeah, I never demanded or whined about anything. I'm not trying to guilt or blackmail anyone either. I don't know why some people have to take what I'm saying in bad faith. I simply want the bad behavior in this game to stop so everyone can enjoy their time playing it instead of being an the mercy of someone who's actively denying their ability to play. Nobody likes that, it's pretty cut and dry.

Right, you are just asking with a little emotional blackmail on the side. Nevermind that gamers who actually do that are unlikely to read this in the first place as they are too busy making another lobby miserable. Fact is that is within the laid out rules of the game. I'm not a fan of this either and if I had the choice I would skip those lobbies, too, but this is what the current state of the game allows.
"Emotional blackmail"?? 😂
I don't know how you got that from what I wrote, but I think you need to read it again.
And as OP said, there's nothing about wanting someone to stop said behavior no one likes that has to do with blackmail. -

Right?
It doesn’t matter why you’re doing it. Whether you’re doing it to grief or doing it because you feel it necessary, the match is still ruined for everyone else.
Not being able to understand why people find it disagreeable is indicative of a lack of experience in similar real-life situations IMHO.
Reminds me of a guy I used to play football with who’d intentionally kick the ball super far out of the court when things weren’t going his way. Like there’s no specific rule about kicking the ball hard, but it’s still bad manners because now someone has to walk through all the long grass to retrieve it. No one is going to want to play with you if you’re constantly finding ways to interrupt or subvert normal play. And it’s bizarre to me how people aren’t getting that.
THIS 100%
I don't know why it's so hard for people to grasp that it still sucks no matter how to try to paint it. There's no reason that makes it better or okay.
Damn, I feel that. Had a similar situation with a friend during basketball. She would turn when things didn't go her way and start getting rough. Even purposely keep the ball away because she wanted to be the only one to make the shot.
And yeah, no one wants to play with people like that. This is the kind of stuff you learn even in kindergarten. -

This game simply is not what you want it to be. Demanding gentlemen's agreements and then being this condescending is ridiculous.
Never demanded anything??
I'm just asking for a basic amount of human decency when everyone is here to have fun. Why would anyone want to still participate if their experience is repeatedly ruined by others who only care about themselves? It's crappy and selfish. No one HAS to go out of their way to ruin it for others just to secure a win.
Again it's sad some of you can't discern that when interacting with other people. You can still be mindful of others and play to win, they aren't inherently tied. -

Almost everything is good enough I suppose. There is a lot of the same stuff repeated over and over and there's not much else to say. Besides that the "fake stories" and "making stuff up" parts are literally just that.
I'm really trying to see the point here but in all honesty I sincerely believe that this game is not for you (addressing the people who are upset for sports or cry at everything that isn't going their way). I really like this game in both roles and it's just sad to see the community around it like this.
Time and time again I have told people that the real issue here is their mindset. I'm even writing articles on steam about it.
I know nobody will listen and just continue to come up with the wildest most outlandish sh*t like "I'm not able to play the game" while literally playing the f*cking game.
You people don't even want DBD, you want a whole different game at this point. It's continuous whining, we never look at ourselves and say "Man, I am a radically unfun person".
Nobody, and I repeat that, absolutely nobody besides yourself is responsible for your fun. Absolutely nobody. Nobody can make you have fun but this is exactly what some of you expect. Impossible.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3872922#Comment_3872922
It's not 2 gens, it's not 5 gens, maybe it's 4 gens. Like what the f*ck are we even talking about here. If the team sucks the killer must win otherwise you're just a crank who always wants to have their way.
People cry about "seeing the other side" while literally ignoring the other side. The hypocrisy is staggering, to be honest.
"we never look at ourselves and say "Man, I am a radically unfun person"."
How would you feel if someone hijacked your play experience? Maybe you should do some self-reflection once in a while because you seem like the "radically unfun person". Wouldn't hurt to practice some mindfulness.
The game could be about anything and you'd still justify being to be rude to others under the guise of "I'm not responsible for anyone else's fun" while actively ruining their time. Sure, you're only responsible for you but remember, you're not the only one there who's trying to have fun. Have some self-awareness, please.
You are the sad part of the community. I feel bad for your friends if they game with you if this is how you treat people. -

No, slugging nowadays is an indicator of game knowledge. They know that hooking is laughable, because all the base stuff and perks survivors get, and how killers basically get nothing if not lose momentum for hooking. It's always weird, to see people making killers out to be skilless when they're literally using strategy and smart plays.
What you're advocating for is the 1 (who's supposed to be the power role, and isn't) to play to lose against the 4. "It's a bad thing if the killer wins" is the narrative.
Again, just think of all killers have to lose by hooking. There could be DS, OTR, DH, Resurgence, pallet saves, blind saves, body blocks, 4% off hook. It's not worth it. So while there may be killers who slug survivors and take joy in it, others are doing it because it's all they can do. That's not them playing above their skill level, either. You're not supposed to be able to win against good survivors, even if you're really good as killer, because the gens are too quick and/or the chases take too long. You're prioritizing people's feelings over all of this practical stuff.
It's pretty appalling that most of you are trying to excuse being rude to people with "that's how the game is played"
Sorry you all don't care about fun and just want to make others miserable to fulfill your win streaks. I mostly play killer, have for years and never had to hijack the game and prevent others from playing just for my own gain. Y'all are sad. -

Ah there it is the "you're scummy for doing X". No it is not scummy to try and win in a PVP game. I also don't see the problem with "sacrificing your build to run DS and unbreakable"…. Those are very strong perks on their own and still leave you with 2 slots left. You have WAY more build diversity as survivor than you do killer. Also tunneling, slugging, camping etc are ALL core gameplay of DBD according to the devs themselves as they are not reportable options. If they werent you would have anti slug, tunnel and camp perks. Also if you throw core gameplay out the window and still win… is that not a survivor skill issue?
I never said it was scummy to want to win a game. I said that exploiting/breaking the game is scummy. And it shows you're willing to do anything to win, including making the game miserable for others just for your own enjoyment. The type of attitude that makes no one want to play with you.
"It leaves you with 2 slots left" Do you hear yourself? No one, NO ONE should be forced to have to slap things on just to deal with the possibility of someone tunneling/slugging. That's the whole point of a CUSTOM build.
Just like I told the other person, put yourself in others shoes once in a while. It'll do you some good. -

I agree that exploits are trash but this thread isn't about exploits though, is it.
And what does "normal" even mean here? That's entirely subjective and really only sounds like "please play the way I want".
The roles can be reversed here too. So the "selfish" argument hardly tracks here. We are all selfish, including you. You want others to play differently for selfish reasons. It's a video game, if I keep you on the ground for two minutes you can hardly take it personal.
I really wish I could understand the constant whining and complaining but I just can't.
Tunneling/slugging are exploits. They ignore the core aspects of the game and take no skill to do. Like I said in another reply, tunnel/slugging/camping can be done without perks. While survivors then require perks to counter it or be at the mercy of someone that won't let them play. And by "normal" I was referring to core gameplay elements/mechanics.
And I'm selfish?? That's funny. Remind me to never play any game with you either. You sound insufferable if you can't even be mindful of a shared activity that involves other people. -

What's wrong with playing to win and being sweaty?
If you're breaking or exploiting things in a game then it's clear it's way more about you and you winning. No reason you just can't play a game as normal, hone your skills, and still win.
The problem isn't simply wanting to win, it's how you go about it. If I go in with the attitude that only MY experience matters when there's other people involved, it's pretty selfish. At that point I'd just play a single player game or play with bots if I want to not be mindful of others. Put yourself in others' shoes once in a while. -
@Brimp said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3872403#Comment_3872403
You can't just call it "group activity" like this game is something one off special. EVERY PVP GAME IS A GROUP ACTIVITY. No fixed need to be made because tunneling and slugging is only as powerful as the survivors let it be in a majority of cases. Also interesting how you say slugging and tunneling aren't supposed be how you play the game… when its literally the killers objective to kill. And playing by that rule book of "give everyone a chance" like a lot of people suggest is what will kill the game. Also the ONLY thing dbd really needs is an actual communication system for solo Q because survivors have more than enough tools to not go down in chase.
Also I do like having fun but fun is subjective. Winning is fun for me especially after when I'm constantly getting out perked instead of outskilled. If survivors are clearly meming around sure I will join in but survivors playing the game is also me just playing the game when I do what I need to win. Or is it just uh "survivors just trying to survive" and "sweaty killer".That's kind of the point? Everyone is here to play, not have their time ruined by being stuck bleeding out for 5 minutes just because a crappy killer wanted a win and was willing to make the game miserable for it.
It's not about "giving everyone a chance" I want to play the game how it's supposed to be played, using perks, killer power etc. I can still get points by not being a jerk and ruining it for others. I don't need to tunnel to win either.
Tunnel/slugging can be done without perks. Camping can be done without perks. While for survivors they have to sacrifice their builds to always bring Unbreakable, Decisive etc. or be at the mercy of a crappy killer where they don't get to play. Again, where's the fun in that? It's a problem that people can throw the core gameplay out the window, not learn how to play, and still win. It's clear it was never meant to be a thing, people just abuse it for their own means and the devs have needed to do something about it for the past several years.
Also if you're willing to resort to doing scummy things just to win, you do care more about winning than having fun. You are the sweaty killer. -
@Brimp said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3872358#Comment_3872358
Its because you let people go and don't play to win which a lot of the community does the opposite of. You get 8 hooks then the survivors escape lowering your MMR. Also you talk about fair in an Asymmetrical game. The very definition of "fair" in a game like this is very VERY loose. It's a 4v1 where the people in the 4v1 usually equate to the 1 person. But in my experience its more like a 1.5:1 because of how efficient survivors can be. Also why are we using the phrase "Sounds like an excuse to just play how you want regardless of other people"? It's a Player vs Player game my own fun comes first which fun is subjective sure but I ain't no babysitter.
You find tunneling and slugging (efficient ways to play) to be miserable to go against as survivor while I find Exhaustion and 2nd chances (also efficient ways to play) miserable to go against. They quite literally are the same.
Thanks for reinforcing my previous statement and showing you don't understand how a group activity works.
You are literally part of the problem this game is having, has nothing to do with being a "babysitter". This is exactly why BHVR needs to implement fixes for things like this because slugging/tunneling aren't how you play the game. It never was supposed to be. People just took advantage of it because they never did anything to fix it.
Sounds like you don't want to have fun, you just want to win. And if you step on people's toes while doing it doesn't matter to you. The game ain't just about you winning, everyone's here to play. Don't be surprised when people don't want to play with you if this is what you do when the fun is supposed to be shared. -

But I call going against second chance perks miserable and even then if I don't tunnel the games are 5 minutes which are also miserable. As I see it they are the same. Its just survivors have better counters to slugging compared to most of the killer roster vs second chance and exhaustion. Also slugging/bleeding out is not holding the game hostage.
Okay…I don't know what you're on about but thanks for letting me know you're one of the people I don't want to ever play with.
Sounds like an excuse just to play how you want regardless of other people. Half the time, I just let people go when I get 8 hooks and then mess around so everyone gets to have some fun. Even if I'm adepting/playing more seriously, I've never needed to tunnel just to win.
If everyone has to slap very specific perks on their build just to counter a certain thing, that sucks out the core fun of getting to make your own build in the first place. Killers don't need perks to tunnel/slug—they can have NO perks and still do it. Going out of my way to tunnel/slug destroys the game for everyone else. It's taking the experience hostage in favor of only my experience which isn't fair. Where's the fun in that?
These things are NOT the same. -

Honestly I could say the same thing about survivors in that 2nd part. If survivors are so skilled they shouldn't need to run exhaustion or 2nd chance perks. But the reality is people still do because of the huge advantages it provides. Now obviously not all this is possible in Chaos Shuffle but thats the point of an Asymm. Some things are possible no matter what.
Those are….not the same at all??
I'm talking about people that are taking the game hostage and ruining the experience for others on purpose. People that want to make the shared activity miserable can do so without penalty (since the devs haven't bothered to prevent it). That's completely a separate thing than bringing perks. -
I feel for you OP, the game has gotten so much worse with killers who dismiss the fact that it's a group activity and don't care the least bit about anyone else's experience. It's appalling selfish behavior.
Plus if they're so skilled, they shouldn't need to slug in the first place. Just slows down the game and makes everyone miserable.
Between this and how the devs are treating people after the Junji Ito fiasco, makes me not want to play anymore. -

Hard tunneling in the early game is a serious flaw in the game design. The idea that one player can force another player to not be able to participate in the game except to be chased and eliminated, unable to enjoy the game the way they should expect to, is ridiculous.
And the reasoning that people give for it is shocking too. "If I don't do this thing that makes you unable to play the game, I might not win!" That feels like someone seeing a line of people at a store and saying "If I don't cut into the front of the line, I might not get the outcome I want." It just totally disregards the experience of the other people sharing the activity.
I can't even imagine a person doing something like that with a group of friends. If I sat at a table going "You're getting out of this game immediately and everyone else practically won't be able to win!" I'd expect people to not want to play games with me anymore. But for some reason, there are people who play DBD who think that kind of behavior is okay.
Op has the right mindset surrounding games; everyone playing should have a reasonable chance to enjoy the game. However, we also can't make it so the most recent person off hook can't be downed at all. Bully squads would have a giant celebration. And there are situations where you can reasonably expect to get chased off hook. If all gens have been done, the killer should be monitoring a hook or the gates (or in some cases mindgaming those activities to find survivors). But in any case, hard tunneling in the early game is a massive problem. Why even play the game as a survivor if it's going to happen?
This is exactly what has bothered me in this game for so long. It's a GROUP activity yet some people ignore that in favor of their own fun. "Your experience doesn't matter, it's more important that I do what I want." I don't understand these people. Like you said, I can't imagine playing with friends like that or even having that attitude to strangers.
Half the time I let everyone go or mess around just because it's more fun that way to me. And even if I'm playing to win as killer for adepts etc, I've never needed to tunnel just to win. Same with people going out of their way to slug or camp hooks/hexes. And there's nothing implemented to really stop them. Hexes don't turn off or move etc if a killer camps them (same with torment gen camp). Even with the anti-camp hook, the killer can chase them down and put them right back on the hook with no form of penalty.
At this point the devs need to do a lot of work shopping and effort to find a good solution but, people should be able to enjoy the game how it's meant to be played instead of dealing with the growing number of players with terrible selfish attitudes. -

I'm not defending their actions, I'm trying to explain their behaviour. It isn't an excuse for them either.
Even if you try to explain it how you did, it makes little sense with their recent actions. Feels like they have no strategy and are hoping the whole thing just blows over.

Doing damage control might also be seen as them admitting to a mistake? Like name any time in the past where BHVR making a public statement, was not just pouring gas on the fire. Its us, we literally train BHVR to not tell us anything because we react so wild.
Remember when they responded in a calm reasonable manner to the P100 cosmetic question? HELLFIRE ERUPTED!
Also how fast do you want a public statement? like they are on weekend right now. the big reddit post was on Thursday?
What? Why would having damage control be seen as them admitting to it? This is why companies have PR in the first place. Plus, they've already committed the wrong—it's too late. The pandora's box is open and there's no putting it all back and pretending like they didn't do it. They (or someone(s) in BHVR) is choosing not to address this and makes them look bad from every possible angle.
Well, they had enough time to make a post about stats on the 10th on all their social media sites (plus Steam). Not to mention the fact they had time to warn people about the region lock way before—hell they could've done it after they took down the Chinese trailer days ago.
They can hand out Auric Cells to Fog Whisperers and people on Reddit like candy, they can quickly take away cosmetics (like Dowsey's Twitch shirt removal), there's no reason why they can't easily resolve this.
I don't know why you're defending this behavior (no pun intended) with how bad it's gotten. Because as it stands, it's so hard to want to trust in them now and for the foreseeable future. Any, ANY reassurance to try and rebuild that trust is better than this silence. -

Well, I'm still going to let them cook, cause they still might do a "Hey, sorry about that, previous message was an error."
Even IF they don't have a clear picture and would like to admit to that in emails right now.Sometimes you have to think like a Company to understand BHVR, shifting your perspective to prioritize minimizing risk, maximizing profit, and maintaining control over liabilities.
This means focusing on strategies like careful wording to avoid promises, strictly following contracts and policies, and viewing decisions through a lens of financial and legal impact rather than personal empathy. It’s about seeing customers as stakeholders to be managed rather than purely as individuals to be pleased. While it can seem cold, it’s a mindset designed for efficiency and self-preservation.
This is why I prefer to take a balanced approach to this, knowing how a company acts internally will see the reason in the madness.
I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt, I really would. But this whole thing is out of hand. There is no damage control. They aren't doing anything. They're posting up how to get your 2024 stats (which also apparently barely work?) instead of making any form of statement after stealing from their patrons.
Even if those messages were a mistake, they unfortunately have a history when it comes to their support team and it's hard to to give the benefit of the doubt when multiple people have had bad experiences (prior to this incident). I'm tired of making excuses for them, even when it comes to their business. Feels like they have no strategy at this point.
I wanted to think they were better than scummy EA but it's slowly looking like they aren't. BHVR isn't showing people that they care, one of the most important things when it comes to a active community and playerbase you're trying to foster.
I may not have been very vocal, but I've been around since the beginning of DBD. I've seen how they reacted over the years to various concerns, the toxicity in the game/community, the bugs, etc. It's all gone downhill since and showed no signs of stopping (especially after the sudden mass layoffs).
I don't even know how many people left in BHVR still care about what they're creating. I WANT to care about DBD. I WANT to care about BHVR. But this? It could've been avoided. This is sad. This is shameful. -

There is no way BHVR would give you the transparency you really want, it would be bad for licence holder relationships to just be transparent about their deals. It would also be incredibly complicated understanding and explaining laws for every country.
Just slap a "Not available in some countries." on every advertisement material, problem solved for the future.
However I hope BHVR will be able to get a refund for the people who for some reason, was able to buy it and then it was region locked. Something major seems to have gone wrong on the technical side, reading the EULA they have no obligation to help you, but I know BHVR wants to be known to provide a good service, so they are probably already working hard to do so.
You might say, why dont they say that to me, will in the event they cant, they will have to default to the basics and that would be like they promise it to us and they dont make good on it, So give BHVR time to cook on this, they need to do many things now the ball is in their court.
They need to collect data on this, fix the error that caused the problem, figure out the legal hoops and they probably need to contact the licence holder to get the money back for refunds, or worse pay it out themselves. This will probably take weeks.
The transparency they should be giving was to tell players their content would be region locked, I'm not asking for every intricate detail that goes into their collabs/chapters. I'm asking for their PR team to step up their game. This is straight up misleading since they advertised the Junji Ito stuff everywhere with no warning and took down the Chinese trailer for it without so much as a word. It's not about collecting data, there's no guarantee it's even something to "fix" because there's no telling if they have control over the region lock or not.
They've already said they wouldn't refund (case in point): https://www.reddit.com/r/deadbydaylight/comments/1hxk4ib/the_bhvr_scam_me_out_of_2500_gold_cells/ and are acting like it's the player's fault for something they didn't tell them. The way they're treating the people that keep their game alive is abysmalI've tried to "let them cook" but it's clear even with time they can't. Hell, it took them 8 years just to fix Freddy. They don't care when they should. BHVR isn't a little indie company anymore, they've gone far from where they started. They have the money and manpower to give their games the polish they deserve. Especially since what they created has so much potential, but they aren't putting in the effort to make it shine which is a massive shame.

Yeah, I thought they put an arbitration clause in the TOS for legal reasons, but now that they showed they are willing to just take your stuff for no fault of your own…
I never cred much for skins, but I don't think ill be buying any more licensed killers or battle passes.
It's pretty absurd this is how they treat the community who quite literally keeps their game alive. I was never the person who bought Auric skins on every new drop, but it makes me never want to give them my money again.
