  • Yeah, I can confirm this isn't just you. Also, if you walk backwards while phasing, you can see the entire crown directly in front of your face. This is really weird.

  • I'd argue his only useful add-ons (the only addons that make any difference when in a chase) are the ranged addons. If you run both, you get about an extra four meters on your ability, such a small difference you'd have to squint to see it. The rest are pretty useless.

@DeadRedHead would i rather have the Freddy or the still same Billy that is no fun to play cos he downs and slugs everyone making the game no fun...i see what you are saying but i don't think there will be another A tier killer, i think the devs hear to many complaints about them.

Well I said A or high B tier killer. I'd be fine with something more on par with what Huntress and Hag offer. I just want a killer that can live up to the name.

Personal rant: Normally I'm the type of person to meme around in games and play for fun rather than play to win; however, DbD is oddly different. I think it's because, if I'm joking around, survivors just gen rush and the game is over in like 3-4 minutes. It just makes it so there isn't really a game for me to play as it is too short. Anyways, this is still a "competitive" game, so game balance shouldn't be excused. It's just going to piss off the community and be poor for the game's health.

@DeadRedHead it's just a game dude.....nothing is ever going to be perfect with killers and everyone is going to complain, helli comlained about the new Legion, so i just don't play him/her - simple, But yes i thought Legion was fun to play and not so serious, i think a lot of us forget about fun. Freddy to me is fun to play, before and after, but i like him more now.

You are entitled to your own opinion as I am entitled to mine. I think both versions of Freddy are too weak to play competitively in higher ranks; however, the old Freddy at least had a power solely unique to himself with distinctive builds to complement it. (Pill Bottle & Paint Brush or Class Photo builds)

I'm tired of seeing nothing but Hillbilly, Spirit, and Nurse at higher ranks. I would gladly welcome another A-tier or high B-tier killer if it meant I had something new to play against. To myself and many others, that would make the game more fun.

    A serious post? Nani?!

(Basically, when you are in the dream world, you can be tricked by dream pallets or be caught in dream snares, and instead of the terror radius, you get the creepy lullaby)

Lemme further define what I mean by unique... It doesn't have it's own effect. If anything, Freddy would be stronger without the Dream transition BS. It just lets SWF constantly know which pallets are real or not as well as making you have to wait a little before your trash ability even comes into play. If he had his abilities without the Dream transition, he would be far better off.

I just can't get the hang of Nurse. I try every rank reset. I'm on PC, but I just suck at the fast twitch technical play style.

It's more a matter of muscle memory than actual skill when it comes to playing Nurse. Just make sure you dont use any add-ons or at least don't use add-ons that change your blink distance. It's a testament to her strength, but you can easily 4k against the best survivors without add-ons as a good Nurse.

  • I love, love this rework of Freddy! i was sceptical, i thought it was going to be a totally new rework, he is fun to play! i even have fun going against him!

If the old Legion was your definition of fun... Jesus, where do I begin? He was just an unavoidable M1 machine that couldn't kill anyone (with a brain) unless he had one very specific and very over powered loadout (Frank's Mixtape & Stab Wounds Study). The idiot test in this case, if you were curious, is if you were/are the type of survivor to heal against a Legion or Plague.

The rework of Freddy gives us a "better" Freddy who is still about on par with Doctor, a C-tier killer. All he has now is a choice between an objectively worse Clown bottle and an arguably worse fake Doctor pallet. (I say this is arguable because the pallet is all Freddy has to help him in a chase and it takes up an entire add-on slot just to use, whereas the Doctor's pallets are just a side perk for his power. Luring a survivor into a deadzone is all a fake pallet needs to do anyways to confirm a kill.)

Freddy's teleport is just an objectively worse version of every movement speed ability in the game because it will usually just make the chase harder. Teleporting to the generator gives survivors five seconds to run away in whichever direction they want, making the chase itself harder to end. If you took M&A and just walked up on a survivor, they would be easier to zone into a dead zone and the chase's starting distance would be shorter. Gen protecting is a pointless argument. Gen protecting only lengthens the game slightly without getting you any kills; you're almost always better off just taking the first chase to present itself. On top of that, the teleport's cooldown is so long that it would be easy to finish a gen by the time that the ability comes back. Mind games are also a moot point when you keep SWF in mind. If you hook someone and go to fake a teleport now that you're free, they're going to tell their team, and the survivors are going to ignore you. At best you waste maybe four seconds of their time.

Then they butchered the dream state. There is now a THIRD way to wake up, making it easier than ever. The hilarity of this poor decision is that the dream state is now also pointless. It no longer reveals or slows down action speeds. All it does is decrease the ridiculously long cooldown on Freddy's teleport per survivor that's slept. The only add-ons that give it an actual gimmick are pretty weak despite their high rarity, such as pill bottle. It could probably be a passive, and it would still be fine.

Worst of all, the Devs didn't give Freddy the add-ons that he needs. Specifically, he doesn't have anything to increase his traps slows to actually make them do anything useful, doesn't have anything to increase the max number of Dream pallets, and doesn't have anything to decrease the time it takes to travel to a gen.

This iteration of Freddy is just an objectively worse version of other Killer options and offers nothing unique anymore.

  • In case it's hard to tell, I feel like the rework for Freddy is just making him a worse version of what we already have. Now I feel like I have no reason to play him because he's incredibly weak and offers nothing unique.

Pre-rework he was the definitive weakest killer, but at least he brought something new to the table.

  • Pallet Freddy is better but more boring as it's also place and go. It can actually confirm a hit when the survivor starts looping the pallet, but it is useless in a chase when a survivor can see you placing them down. Awake survivors also know where the real pallets are, and this is just going to make a coordinated SWF nightmarish for Freddy to play against. The pallets are also a bit superfluous a lot of the time as well considering how pallets are spaced out now. To further explain what I mean, let's say you're playing the Doctor and a survivor runs towards one of your fake pallets. Well, considering how pallets are spaced out, they probably just ran into a dead zone and the hit is now unavoidable (provided you aren't a rank 20 and get 360'd). The main point I'm trying to make is that, about half of the time, the dream pallets which are all Freddy has to help him in a chase are about as useful as just an added perk of another killer's power. Not to mention that unlike any other power in the game, Freddy's pallets take an entire add-on just to get to use and have little support. Any power that consumes an entire add-on slot just to use should definitely be among the stronger powers.

Snare Freddy is a flaming dumpster fire in terms of how weak and generally useless the power is. It's basically the Clown's power; HOWEVER, it's a trap (harder to make use of), slows for less, the survivor has to be slept for the (useless) trap to do anything, is really only "useful" for making a fast vault a slow vault, and it takes you longer to place and activate the trap than it slows the survivor down for. I think the setting time is especially atrocious considering they're considerably weaker than Hag traps but take longer to place at a specific point. It basically means they're only not a waste of time if you haphazardly chuck them places while moving. Survivors can also disarm them... There's just so much that's wrong with them it's really hard to properly encapsulate it all. There aren't even any add-ons to increase their slow effect or make them actually do anything.

Anyways, the snares are generally not needed/superfluous in ending a chase, ESPECIALLY in shorter loops where the full duration of the (insignificant) slow doesn't even have a chance to set in.
