  • It's ideas like these that make me wonder why I still play this game. Unbelievable.

  • I've been having some really bad rubber-banding issues myself tonight, everything on my end is great. First time I've ever dealt with it, and it's really gamebreaking. I really hope this isn't overlooked. I'm on ps5, I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the issues from not being able to play on playstation earlier.

Walking on a slugged body isn't "Sexual Assault" that's completely made up and delusional. DBD does try to make it better but there also isn't much that can be done but that doesn't mean that don't do anything. That's like me reporting every survivor I see because they are teabag spamming me. Its the same with hitting on hook. There wouldnt be any players left. You view it as toxic. They are viewing it as just having fun. At the end of the day, its not hurting you physical. Its just hurting you emotional or otherwise you wouldn't be this in depth about it. So yes, move on or go play an offline game. This will always be apart of online games.

Again, that seems like a pretty ludicrous answer, but if that's how you feel I know your entitled to do so. Bottom line is everyone knows exactly what's being done when they do that, and it's pretty pathetic & disrespectful.

I expect better from people, no matter what I'm doing, so I'll continue to advocate for better while some people settle for whatever there is. I guess in that respect, it is personal. People show who they truly are in everything they do, especially anonymous online modes, and it's concerning when someone only finds happiness in going out of their way to be miserable to others. If hitting on hook, imitating sexual assault and being an obnoxious jerk to everyone else is how they find happiness, that's obviously not healthy & shouldn't be encouraged.

Also although it's ridiculously stupid to do, the whole teabagging nonsense is easy to handle by the killer. Push people out the gate or catch them while in chase. Not even comparable to not having any out without penalty from a bm'ing/toxic killer. Again, your entitled to believe whatever you'd like. Hope your matches are good.

You can't hold the game hostage if there is one survivor left since hatch spawns, you complained about them moving ontop of slugged bodies, which once again isn't reportable

Pretty sure you just want to argue and not really have a conversation in good faith, so the last thing I'll say to you is that you 100% can hold it hostage by downing them, refusing to hook for a while, which they did. They didn't close hatch, so however long they wanted to keep them in-game while downed, until they picked up just to hit on hook excessively, they did. Pretty sure that's holding the game hostage. And again, you're making something up that I never said about slugging. Regardless, best of luck playing, hope everything goes well.

Here you go straight from their rules, as can be seen what you are describing doesn't count as griefing, you would have to be targeted multiple times over multiple games by the same killer. End of discussion

    Edit: Also slugging isn't reportable/bannable

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/DHTIBH2TY0GC/screenshot-2869-29.png

And that's exactly what they did. And they tried holding the game hostage on the last person in the game. And I never said anything about slugging.

I've read the rules, and it's pretty black & white what they did and what was going on.

First of all, Hitting on hook isn't reportable. Second of all. There is no such thing as "sexual assault" in this game as there is no design for it by any means. 3rd of all its an online game. Toxic behaviour goes both ways. It sucks, sure, but you gotta just move on and not take it personal.

"Because there's no design for it??" That's an... interesting explanation I've never heard before. And I understand it's an online game. Doesn't mean anyone should have to deal with it, or not try to make it better. That's why things are where they are with online gaming in general. I don't ever take it personal, per se, but I think it's a little obtuse to chalk it up to bad people do bad things, just deal with it & move on."

Edit: I don't understand how someone hitting a player on hook 7-10 times every hook isn't a perfect definition of griefing, considering it does nothing to further the game & the player knows it. Excessive is an understatement.

Unfortunately, nothing that you listed is considered to be reportable so no action could be taken in this instance.

So, going out of your way to be a complete jerk, with no interest in playing a real game, isn't punishable? That was the goal 100%, and that's OK? For future reference, what exactly counts as "griefing," I'm genuinely asking so I know down the line? Would appreciate an explanation.

  • I've got an even better one for you. I sent in a player report; someone was nonstop hitting on hook to everyone, was also doing the sexual assault thing to everyone on the ground as well. A real gem of a human being. I recorded all of this, and sent it in. I got a report a few days later that stated camping isn't a punishable offense. Nowhere did I say anything about camping, but that's how it was dealt with. It's good to know that the people who just want to play a normal game without the nonsense some people do can't even expect this company to make that possible, because they obviously don't care or can't be bothered to truly look at what is sent to them. Be lucky you got any response at all that was coherent to what your message was.

Honestly, any common players are absolutely tolerate anything that happens in the game, as long as it's not the targeted harassment

Empathy really works when both people have same standards, which I doubt to be true

I'm a bit lost as to what your saying, could you clarify a bit please? If it's that both sides should be respectful of the other, I agree 100%, and all we can control is how we decide to act regardless of what others say/do. I've said it in other threads, it takes a stronger person to not feed in to whatever is being done that's unacceptable, but it needs to be done to stop the nonsense. That and again, being cognizant that your playing other people and not bots.

I do want to agree with your first paragraph. I enjoy a good discussion and so far this has been, even if we disagree. Likewise, I am also not trying to be hostile, though I am admittedly often blunt.

The problem with your approach to perceived flaws in the game is that it's subjective. What you call "exploiting a flaw" someone else might judge to be playing efficiently, within the rules, which is objectively true. This is part of the reason "survivor rule book" is a meme among killer mains, because every survivor has their own set of rules, applied inconsistently, and often applied in ridiculous cases. You're not going to please everyone no matter how you play.

There is also a tragedy of the commons aspect. If I play sub-optimally then I am risking that the opposing team/player may take advantage of that and play in ways that I find unfun and "exploitative." I don't think it's a tenable position to say that people should play according to the subjective perception of their opponent.

The problem is that the rules of the game are what they are, and no amount of wishing will change that. If you want to alter your playstyle to make the game more fun for the other side, then by all means do so, but I vehemently reject the notion that not doing so makes you unempathetic. This is a video game that people play voluntarily.

If you decide to play in a way that a vast majority of the player base absolutely can't stand in order to win, that 100% is a lack of empathy. You are making the choice to say "I don't care who's involved & how they feel, I'm winning at all cost because they don't matter to me," instead of other ways that can be just as successful if you put the time in to learn it. There's no way around it. Not only does is show a lack of compassion or empathy for the people you play against, it also shows an unhealthy obsession with winning. There's all kinds of data out there to show this, and it's indisputable.

This is one of the biggest problems in this community. I'm not saying that you necessarily are doing this, but people try to make excuses for being horrible to each other to justify whatever they're doing. People need to stop doing it & start considering the other human beings they're playing with. Not bots, human beings. Both sides are guilty of it,so it's not one or the other.

  • Did the checkmark to not see the ad ever get worked out by chance? Every time I open the game on ps4/ps5, it pops up with a full-screen ad that I checkmark everytime to not see again, yet it doesn't matter. It's rather annoying saying I don't want to see it again just for it to show up regardless.

Truth be told, I can understand that mentality. After years of bullying, the bullied are getting a payback. And the bullies cant stand that

This is the exact mindset that has made this game miserable for at least the last three months for normal survivors like me. I'm tired of hearing about killers having to "endure" tbagging. PUSH THEM OUT THE DOOR, OR DOWN THEM. It's only that bad because they either let them do it, or if in chase, don't either get them or leave the chase. Whereas anything a killer does, there's no getting away from it without being penalized. It's 1000% not comparable, and I'm tired of killers acting like there's nothing to be done about it. You decide if you deal with it, while survivors just endure & waste their time reporting them.

Players need to stop the circle of toxic & obnoxious behavior from others by NOT DOING IT. It's really that easy. It's done to tilt you & ruin your game; don't be that way for people who had nothing to do with previous matches. You're also giving the bad actors on both sides exactly what they want doing it yourself & letting it affect your future matches; be the bigger person.

People like that already have their own que. If somebody is playing in a sweaty way such as tunneling, their mmr will eventually place them against people who play just as if not more sweaty. So that que for sweaty people already exists.

True story. I guess at that point, they keep getting knocked back down & it's a repeating cycle for all involved. Good point.

  • @HerInfernalMajesty said:

I’m going to preface this thread by saying that I absolutely do not support griefing in any way shape or form. Nor do I encourage any of the upcoming examples of “cruelty”.

Cruelty. We’ve all felt it. Some of us have acted on it. What do I mean by “cruelty?” You know, the things that rub the salt in. 4-man bleedout. Stun squads, aggressively tunneling one player while ignoring the game as a whole. I’m sure we can come up with more examples.

Question: Does in-game cruelty raise the stakes of a trial? Nobody wants to be bled out for 4 min, no one wants to be eliminated super early, no Killer wants to be endlessly stun locked.

Does the risk of experiencing in game cruelty motivate players to play better? What are your thoughts? Does playing better manifest this behavior?

I wonder very much about this because DbD is a game that feels like it has an “edge” that no other game has. I can’t help but feel that this “edge” has some kind of relationship to the passionate feelings that emerge from the community. Others have used the word “Visceral” to describe this “edge” and I am inclined to agree. The knee-jerk reaction this game can make people feel seems to fuel(?) try hard gameplay. However It can also be argued that it instead deters players from playing hyper efficient.

I don’t condone toxicity. My lofty (though unrealistic) vision is for every player to be grateful for every other player in the community. I’ve never played a game that felt as intensely personal as Dbd. I can’t stop returning to this idea of an “edge”.

I know this is a sensitive topic and I don’t support making anyone feel bad irl or ruining their games just to be cruel. I just can’t seem to shake the feeling that the stakes of a trial seem linked to:

A.) As a Survivor the longevity of your life in a trial

B.) The amount of “cruel” interactions one may experience in-game.

Does anyone else kind of understand the idea I’m trying to describe?

I think there's an easy fix to all these problems, and it's simple: act like you're playing against human beings and act how you would want to be treated. There's so many in this community that put winning and their own satisfaction above everything else, and that's always going to be a recipe for cruelty. I get wanting to win & have fun, I want both of those for sure. But I'm not putting that above everything else. You never know what's going on with who you're playing with & against, so don't do things that you wouldn't want to deal with. I don't think this game is in a great state right now and so many people have put it down for good that I personally have played with for these those reasons. I really like this game & want it to succeed, but I'm afraid if things keep going this route, it may be in for some tough times in the future.

My dream is for players like you to be given a separate queue and you guys play ONLY with each other. You have no idea how many winnable games you've turned into lost ones. Egoists shouldn't be unpunished in team based games.

And my dream is for people like you to all have their own queue as well and ONLY play with others like yourself. The premise that a player has to stay in the game when a killer is actively doing something as unfun and overpowered as tunneling, or even worse(and becoming a VERY common occurrence) in going out of their way to BM and be as toxic as possible, just because said "teammates" are basically saying "too bad, you're fun doesn't matter, just deal with it so WE can escape," is ridiculous.

This game isn't a job, and it shouldn't feel like it either. The way a lot of killers have decided to play recently has killed any drive for a ton of players to even boot up the game anymore. People who think like I stated above are another reason. Maybe it doesn't happen to you, but when you play x amount of games and the overwhelming majority of them become so horrendous that you make the decision that NODD3RS has, maybe instead of blaming them you can look more at the underlying problem of why they've come to that decision. They have every right to make that choice, because, again, this is a game that they bought, to have fun.

Quite frankly, the selfish view that x person's fun doesn't matter, mine does and that's more important, needs to change. It's why we are where we are in the first place. If people on both sides started realizing that they're playing with other human beings, not bots, and took a little consideration in to making sure it's not a miserable experience for everyone else, I have no doubt that these conversations would be less common. But as long as people put so much emphasis on "winning" over everything else, which becomes incredibly unhealthy over time, it is what it is.

And sure, make different queues for the two sides like you said. I guarantee that in time, after all the super sweating, tunneling, hitting on hook, unnecessary bleedouts, t-bagging, flashing, notification spamming and other types BM'ing that absolutely will take place, most people will be playing the other one.

I'm glad my main reply got some traction and Peanits most likely saw it, and the video, if we're lucky. Getting tired of arguing with people about changes like this. Chess Merchant was also defended like this so it feels like a cycle here. Tell me why we're comparing BILLY to HUNTRESS in order to justify that video...

I think a big reason these "discussions" keep happening and going the way they do is because the majority of all the DbD online communities are overwhelmingly people who mostly play the killer role right now, and they'll justify ANYTHING that makes games easier. Seriously, who in their right mind could POSSIBLY defend any of these huntress changes?!? They aren't needed and, again, almost completely take away counterplay options against her.

It's incredibly frustrating playing survivor right now, almost to the point that it isn't worth it. I don't think most survivor players want anything more than a fun game that they have a chance in. All the changes lately have made that next to impossible, and makes me incredibly concerned for the path this game is going down.

Skill expressions are disappearing at a rapid rate and it's a pain to see. Just becoming more low risk whilst the rewards stay the same.

They are and it's really unfortunate. I don't know what their endgame is here. With every killer release/buff, trying to run them is becoming increasingly more difficult, via powers or perks, especially with all the exposed & aura reading ones available. It's basically a game of connect the dots via aura-reading with one hit downs more easily accessible to killers than ever before, and it takes little to no skill with quite a few of the rostered killers available to do so.

This is just another example of taking away yet another form of counter-play from one of the stronger/better balanced killers available, and makes the skill ceiling even lower on said killer.

Yep, i tried this out aswell.

If Huntress goes live like this, i will simply uninstall and never come back to the game. Not because of Huntress, but because of the future perspective of the game.

This huntress change is a testament to how incompetent the ballance team apparently is. It is a shame and an absolute insult to the other workers at BHVR who do a fine job (sound design, graphics ect)

Somebody there must have made the decision that this is fair and ballanced, on one of the best, most played and already most well ballanced killer in the entire game.

    Its rediculous.

Quoting this to hopefully get more exposure, because this is a great response. I don't understand who is making these decisions or why, but these changes aren't it. I already go against enough obnoxious & annoying huntress players that take it as a personal attack that you dare touch a gen, I don't need more. The only changes she needs is her absolutely horrendous hit boxes fixed, nothing more.

This game is 100% going the wrong way, and quickly. I'm getting sick and tired of loading in to games with more counter play options disappearing everytime.

I'm going to disengage from you at this point since you want to continue arguing against a strawman and not have discussions in good faith. If you would like to reset the conversation and continue talking, you can answer my previous question

Should this game be balanced around high level players (top mmr) or average players (where most players are)

If you aren't willing to go on that route and want to continue arguing with a strawman then i'll just move on from this discussion. No point in continuing if someone won't do so in good faith.

I've been following the forums for a minute since before I actively engaged with people. The one thing I've learned is that both sides of the playerbase have people who absolutely have no interest in having a good faith conversation, they just want you to know why they're right and you're wrong. The person you're engaged with 100% is one of these people, and people overall need to stop engaging with them. It's just an exercise in insanity. Like I said, there's people on both sides who do it, so I'm not trying to single anyone out, but the majority of voices right now are people who obviously play killer more, so once you identify it, it's better to just let them do their thing without engaging.

  • It really seems like with every update, they just really want people to stop playing survivor more than the previous update. Nobody seriously wants easy outs, most just want a fair chance & a fun game. Is that too much to ask for? I agree that Pig's changes are questionable, but everything else is more or less absurd. I barely play this game anymore because survivor is absolutely miserable & as a killer, it's not even a challenge most games. I know balance is difficult, but this certainly isn't it.

  • So regardless of what people here are saying, it 1000% is going to be a problem.

    20231202_215311.jpg

This is something I saw yesterday on a different forum, first time I saw anything like it, mind you, and guess how many killers have ran this combo today in games I've played? At least five. Haven't played since the last one. As a solo queue player 90% of the time, this kind of nonsense is pretty much a nightmare to see.

I get it, people don't want things nerfed, but if your complaining about synergy issues on one side and downplaying things like this, or batteries included+NOED, regardless of the Hex being able to be taken out, or (old) MFT+Hope, it's very hard to take anything said as trying to have a discussion in good faith. It's only a matter of time before this is a very common build, and it is NOT fun to deal with. It's being touted as an "anti-tunnel" perk, and it may not be right off the hook tunneling, but boy does it feel close to it dealing with this if your unlucky enough to continue becoming the obsession, which I was several times. Not a fun combo, only a matter of time before a LOT of people with other killers run it. Not a good time for playing survivor.

  • Hey there, I'm brand new to this game as well(5 days in), play survivor and am trying to learn the ropes as well. I'm on PS4/5, and would love to get in some practice trials to learn some basics as well, since the live matches have been an experience, to say the least. If anyone wants to shoot me a message(not to crazy on putting my psn out in the open because of those few "fun" people that always pop in), I'd really appreciate it. Best of luck & hope y'all have fun!
