For the love of the universe, if I never see another Ghoul in The Ghoul's Banquet 10th Anniversary or ever again it won't be too early. Devs please, please, just do something about this.
-
The new maps are too small to be functional. At any given point for an open map you can see at least 4 survivors, which means killers can too. Three genning, camping and tunneling is just impossible to avoid (as well as effective saves in some cases). Technically with Nemesis, there are 6 killers and too many survivors are getting surrounded and hit by Zombies. Especially indoor maps.

SOUND AND VISUAL INTENSITY
The First's sounds, screen visuals and intensity of games is something I very much dislike - even though I was very much looking forward to this release. I have to walk away after a few back to back games (either as The First or Survivor). There is so much going on that sometimes I can't even see the opponent. Sounds are so intense - especially the chase music is dialed so high.
EASY SKILL LEVEL
It's a super easy killer to master - the killer seems to win much more often against higher devout survivors and I don't think that is a good thing. Sometimes you only have one choice - be challenged or have fun and DBD is the game I want to be fun.
PROXY CAMPING / RETURN TO HOOK/TUNNELING
Clocks shouldn't be visible to the killer. As The First, I have started the game directly next to the clock and I've played a few The First killers who know to go the clocks once World Breaker starts to find survivors. I do feel that easy "return to hook" is a real design flaw in DBD that most killers focus on over gens, that this just adds to the 4K or else mentality and bifurcates the game into those who take risks (and now die) and those who avoid action. I'd rather help train survivors be heroes through good game design.
Also the anti hook underground attack avoidance is quite bad. I've seen survivors get hit a few times trying to unhook people. It invites exploit (and please don't say "it's a strategy" — its weak and panicky killer play and encourages more of it.)COOL DOWNS
Devs, I know you are trying to eliminate cool downs on killers, but It's just tiring - I'd even argue it's bad for killers. Spamming killer powers equates to tiring people out more and playing less (less $$$ for you then.) As killer I actually enjoy the hunt more than spamming powers - the huntress balances this out nicely and not many other killers since. I think this is why people don't play Krause, The Ghoul and The First will join the list soon - DBD is becoming the game to play a few games and walk away. -
@Wezqu & @MadDragon — late response, but thank you for that information. It is very useful. Everyone has bad days and it was a doozy of a day and my tone could have been better, so it was kind that you looked past that. :) I also haven't had anything like that since (for example with anti-camp bar moving backwards during that game).

Thank you for the confirmation!

BHVR's BP system is absolutely broke. I play on PS and my friend plays on xBox. We both had 150% bloodpoints and he earned 110k and I earned 70k and we both were within 200 points of each other in basic match.
If BHVR wants people to trust these games, then do right by ALL players.
This also includes aura reading. Killers don't have to kick gens or use Shadow to have eyes on you. (For shadow, it seems killers see all survivors even who are not in chase.) In fact I had killers who had Brute and Shadow, saw them run from 1/2 way across the map - DID NOT KICK A GEN and both ran directly to me and knocked me down. This is broke and ridiculous.
-
There are serious fails in 2V8 that favor killers, so I don't trust that BHVR will fix them.
1) The huntress can throw hatches through walls and through rocks. I thought I was insane until my friend watched my game and confirmed. 2) Increasingly the game is not allowing me to throw palettes (the key just doesn't work), when I can open chests, I can't take the item out. I have to back up a meter for it to work and I can't unhook people easily — the key tip comes in an out. I play playstation and my guess is that it's an optimization issue. (It should be added that this issue is inconsistent and at its worse on 11/24, playing 11/25 was better)
Then there is just the aura reading that is on about 80% of the game. There is no point in doing gens when there are 4 people left in the game so games take so so long. It's time to shut off aura at some point or no one will do gens.
-
The second iteration of 2v8 was so much fun the first week as a survivor main, but just like last time killers have learned and are now fully exploiting the system. They know where cages end up so they down people then move to those areas and proximity camp from just far enough. It's so damn terrible to be sitting and trapped in the cage only to be tunneled or watch everyone around you be downed. There is no damn value in the guide class for survivors so no one is using it (unless you are a SWF team) and map design is a huge problem allowing killers to rotate counter clockwise around the map and win. Main buildings should never be in the center - hills should not be next to the shack nor should hills have 3 gens right next to them. It's terrible that people who hunger for bloodpoints end up playing and slaughtered every time. Give the maps so dimension.

KILLERS HUNT IN THE VOID SO SURVIVORS AVOID IT
Developers put so much time into something that is barely being used the longer the event goes on. Killers have too much power punishing survivors for going into the void by following the and snipping and dropping from the higher levels. You could change this by eliminating the visual for killers.
-
New mori system is silly. It in essence takes away a health state for the final survivor, makes finding the hatch harder since killers are so sweaty for that mori (and all around every killer is unbearably sweaty for a 4k). Time to add a second hatch honestly.
-
I hand it to BHVR, because I think for once in a long time they turned ON MMR on Friday, October 18, 2024 for the event. Game matching took longer and I'M SO OK WAITING FOR 5M for a game if it means I have a chance to demonstrate and build skill in the game — matched to killers at my skill level. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE turn MMR on for these games on weekends or give us an option with button or something. It was so much fun!!! On Saturday, October 19, 2024 MMR was off, matchmaking was fast, but it was just an exceptionally awful experience and why I am not playing DBD as much anymore.
UPDATE: It seems as if BHVR is turning on and off MMR every other day. Probably as a test.
-
Some hate just to hate. I have never seen anyone hiding in the corner with Distortion. It makes no sense since the killer can't see you there is no reason to hide. If you can blunt killer aura reading (esp Lethal Pursuer, which is completely OP for map traversal killers) you can efficiently do gens.
-
I picked up an item to stop weave attunement, not realizing it wouldn't stop after so long, but I was also holding a flash bang. Weave attunement was attached to me the remainder of the game and actually cost us the game. I tried to drop it off in a corner, but to no avail. BHVR, please kill switch this perk until fixed. Killers are taking advantage of it.
-
I'm sorry BHVR, but you designed the perfect return to hook killer in the Dark Lord at a time when even content creators use return to hook as a critical path to 4k.
Here is the recipe: transform to bat, traverse map, hear a gen, knock down a survivor repairing, hook, return to gen and kick it, return to hook as bat by transporting and down the unhooking survivor. At least one in five people are rewarded and has fun in the game.
Then you create maps with 25% barren zones, open palette gyms, lowered most objects around the unsafe palettes and still no way for soloQ survivors to practice with a killer bot.
I beg you to stop listening to Scott Jund and other content creators — the vast majority of players are suffering for it.
I know you have the data for this, we certainly can see the drop in players and survivors are getting wise and in many cases not using offerings or items. I'm just not sure why you are doing it - please tell us.
-
As of August 2024 (PS5), it's still broken. Had to do it 4x (successfully complete in each of the 4 games game). In game, it recognized as complete with the banner appearing, but when game ended it did not register as complete in the post game archive box nor on the tome itself. It is also located on Tome 1, level 2 where I was working on it.
-
I'm having an issue when I click the sync button for PS, it partially spins and stops and gives no indicator that sync was successful. My switch and Steam accounts gives me a pop-up confirming the sync. Any thoughts?
-
@Ohyakno I don't disagree that there were hard times earlier, but every anniversary DBD turns into a heavier version of Fortnite. I remember everyone used to celebrate the Anniversary and they weren't so sweaty. @VantablackPharaoh91 - we are well past rank reset and if anything its worse.
Beyond tunneling and prox sampling remote hooking and remote destruction of palettes were insane choices by devs that takes counterplay away from survivors - especially solo queue. That with really open space maps that hurts the quiet mode in some chances. I just hope devs are listening.

More invisible walls on game maps: Playing as survivor on Sunday, May 12, I have ran into invisible walls during chase that resulted in me being easily downed and hooked twice because I was stuck. I don't record my sessions, so I don't have video or image proof and replicating in custom was very difficult due to spawn possibilities. Here are the two areas:
- Badham Preschool IV (Springwood) — For this variant of Badham IV, the ambulance spawns at the crossroad of the schoolhouse where the hood of the ambulance faces the "Badham Preschool" sign/entrance. When facing the front hood of the ambulance - the spawn will include the two story house to the right of the ambulance and and the one story house on the left. Running across the street to the right and towards the side of two story house, there are shrubs and a tree bundled together followed by the very tall shrubs lining the length of the house. Run between the shrubs/tree bundle located so its located on your left and the tall shrubs lining the house will be to your right. Running between the two hits the invisible wall for survivors. If there is a generator where the shrubs/tree would be located, then it doesn't work. That generator has to spawn to the left of the ambulance rather than the right.
- Lampkin Lane (Haddonfield) — For this variant, if facing Michael's house (the two story White House in the middle of the map), the invisible wall appears on the two story blue house that will spawn behind you to the right. Move right and cross the street and run into the two story blue building. Turn left to the living room where there will be a palette (if no palette, then it won't work). I threw down this palette (running from the killer at the front entrance and turning left) and then was immediately stuck. I couldn't seem to go either direction and then the killer downed me.
It's so frustrating to loose items, add ons and bloodpoints through no action of our own and hope there is some bloodpoint compensation for identifying issues like this?

The 400% bonus is such a scam with MMR working so badly. First night of 400% is abysmal. I'm being paired with killers so strong that someone is on hook in 30 seconds. Survivors just dying on the hook intentionally (and I don't blame them). I've played 6 games in a row and I'm up against players that are for example prestige 58 Michael Meyers and 24 Nurse. They face camp, prox camp and tunnel and play like they are in tournaments. BHVR developers, it's so shameful that quality of life game play is that miserable. You can't build skill that way. I beg you to improve quality of life for casual players and players who need to grind hard invest in your game.
-
BHVR developers blatant despise for survivors is so evident in this event. I have only played a few games where survivors break 100k and killers are breaking 100K 99% of the time. It's shameful. MMR is totally shut off as well so for those that need blood points the most have just miserable game play and are not benefiting. Many are intentionally dying (I don't blame them, but yet another favor to the killer). Don't get me started on the bugs introduced with these changes.
-
BONE CHILL AND BLOODRUSH FAILED FOR NEW PLAYERS. Devs don't understand the challenge of new survivor players in the game, and it's a serious quality of life issue. Events like Bone Chill and the bloodpoint rushes addition are not chances to get additional and much needed blood points. (Which is a massive, massive grind). Given that there is no effective MMR, it's a slaughterhouse and a gift for killers who have played this game for years and come in to shoot fish in a barrel. They should not be playing newer survivors. There are so many games where people are tunneled out of the game before they even have a chance to collect snowskulls. (Killers could learn that not every game has to be a 4k.)
Devs seem only interested in content creators voices and it's a shame. Content creators have no idea how hard it is. I wish at least one dev would post this in your office, "You can't learn to play basketball by being thrown on a NBA team."
-
MMR doesn't exist after 5pm, on the weekends or during peak times at special events, such as the 14th of every month when all the insane sweaty good killers come and just decimate everyone playing. You can't convince me that MMR is even worth talking about when Quality of Life for players under 2,000 hours is just awful for the times that a majority play the game. BHVR Admins, can you explain why MMR doesn't seem to exist during popular gameplay hours?
-
The most recent Ghostface buff in June 2023 has been so brutal. I don't blame killer mains being frustrated by Ghostface pre-buff, but geez, now gameplay is so damn stressful and sweaty as a survivor against Ghostface. I also think BHVR must have tilted map selection towards indoor maps when killers play Ghostface. I've played at least 15 ghostfaces since the buff and never an outdoor map! It's so incredibly unfun to play against a killer that you can't see or hear and can get grabbed off a generator because now all gens spawn near doorways.
Honestly, Killer mains who play by the unwritten community rules of DBD, namely by not exploring ghost face by camping and then tunneling - I support you getting the killer you want. However, there are so many killer players who don't know, don't care, or exploit every unwritten rule that it will drive people away from the game - which we've seen since behavior started this path last year. BHVR crutches skill. They did the same to Legion, who was my favorite killer to play and play against and is just now deplorable and irritating to play - from music to game style.
To all those with the intelligent comeback of, "you should just get better at the game," please consider the level of discourse you are putting out there and realize you are missing the point entirely.
-
I'm a survivor main and I beg BHVR to not solve for face camping, but proximity camping. 95% of my games get kills because the killer just stayed within 24 meters of hook. It wasn't that way when I first started playing, but the community has changed. This change will just reinforce and train killers on how to proximity camp better.
Map rework is also partially to blame, so many gens are within 8 meters of each other it can create 3-gen zones right out of the box where most of the game takes place and most people are hooked. Typical BHVR tinkering that doesn't truly solve.
Killers, you already know that BHVR bends over backwards for any Killer complaint. The game is just not fun most times because most altruism is met with tunneling and hooking. It's so rare to be able to ever heal a person near their hook anymore. I can guarantee you that BHVR will kill this change before it takes off or nerf it so it doesn't even matter.

I think that the more advanced the generators are repaired, the faster the skill checks will be and become smaller and the alert will be delayed
For every 25% progress in repairing the generator, a unique and difficult skill check will come (I have no thoughts about this unique skill check, but it is unique and unparalleled)
Please no. This makes the game even more ‘work’ rather than casual play. Here is my out of the box idea. The killers define whether the game is fun or sweaty. so bring DBD back to its roots where the only goal for the killer isn’t an 4K. At the end of each match, share whether each of the 4 survivors piped, reached safety (no pip), or de-piped with that killer. For every 5 games where there was a certain percentage of depiping by survivors then there is a challenge to the killers to make the game more adventurous for them - like a 2% slowness or a perk slot block. Call it a master killer challenge or something. The challenge becomes cumulative with additional challenges or slides back to typical game play over time. This encourages that in the lack of MMR killers don’t decimate for their fun at the cost of everyone else who may be less experienced. (which is why we are seeing people run from the game.) It also gives challenge to the killers who want sweaty and challenging games or are highly skilled.
The reverse can be true for killers who de-pip frequently to give them a boost (a boost benefit). This makes less need for perk and add on changes by BHVR and therefore allows new and casual players to understand these things and use them before they are changed. The responsibility falls into the hands of the players and community - where it should be.

Could use confirmation on this, but blessing a totem counts under the old "boldness" category, which is now Evader. If you get 20 points for cleansing a totem under Lightbringer, maybe the same for blessing?
-
BHVR Devs, can we now have a conversation? And not just listen to the Content Creators and Whisperers. You could only break 60k 4 times during the Haunted by Daylight 2022 (on Steam). Midnight grove was a sustained 75k. Dead by Daylight is in trouble and it makes me sad because you keep doubling down. Your MMR choices are wiping out the mid-tier and low-end players and these dramatic dips demonstrate that. I'm not sure why this is so confusing unless Patrick was right - you only care about the high-end and new players. Sadly, your free Halloween days won't give you the bump you hope for. Please fix this so we can have fun playing.
-
Haunted by Daylight (Halloween event 2022) really underscores that MMR is really only effective at a really high player base. For steam charts that is in the 60k range or higher. Unfortunately, players feel it when the tier 1 killers start raining down in their games and just make it so damn sweaty for the great middle base of players. it's the reason this halloween season has up and down spikes and not a sustained level of gameplay.
-
Killers, can you stop playing so damn sweaty for this Halloween 2022 event?!? It's bad enough that the great middle of our player base has left the game, but this is supposed to also be fun time and when you are disrespectful by downing survivors who are in the middle of simply dropping void points into the rift. You are not doing anything for the game by chasing more people away. We already know BHVR developers care squat for the middle level players - you are going to chase away potential new players when BHVR launches you on those unsuspecting folks. There was a time when there would be fun killers from time to time, but y'all are acting like arrogant asses with something to prove. It's a game. To all those who say too bad and deal with it, well you can see by the steam charts that not even the Halloween event is helping lifting players for any extended period. BHVR is doing all they an to ruin the game. don't add to it.
-
MMR is basically non-existent for all the points noted in the thread and BEHAVIOR DEVELOPERS knows that people will still play regardless. It's a shameful disregard for player experience. If you have under 2,000 hours of gameplay and trying to improve, avoid these times or you will be decimated (as survivor) or shamed (as killer) more than not. The overpowered and legacy players that know this and purposely hunt during these times:
- After 5pm your time zone (unless your in the middle of chapter, event or tome releases when legacy players drop the game)
- On the 12th of each month (because rank resets on the 13th)
- The first three days of any event
- The first three days when a new tome is released
- The last two days of an event
- The last two days of the tome close
Yea, doesn't leave a lot to practice and improve. Honestly BEHAVIOR DEVELOPERS should suspend de-pipping when paired the match exceeds a certain level for lower-level MMR players. It's demoralizing not to even have a chance to safety pip. All the tinkering of perks is such a waste of time and subterfuge -- does nothing to the #1 problem in the game. At least give me a choice as player to wait longer for my MMR group.
-
I'm going to post an update from my original stance when kicking off this thread. I think the problem is very much MMR and everything else is a distraction. I'm gaining empathy with killers who only can tunnel and camp to be successful -- even as much as I hate it as survivor.
I play killer once every other week and with the update, I've played killer 13x. My experience is the exact same - always with the flashlight clicky experienced high-end players who screw with new killers like me. BHVR has just handicapped the entire survivor base to address their data obsession and so now I get more points as killer, but don't have any more fun and even less fun now as a survivor.
If BHVR spend all of their time on effective matchmaking they wouldn't need to give killers like me a handicap, which still isn't working!!! High-end players have already worked around it and lower and mid tier players are all suffering more for it. Recipe for disaster. I guarantee you a lot of lower end employees know this at BHVR and are not able to convince their leaders of this fools errand.
Reverse the update and then take away a perk slot for players with 6000+ hours (or whatever) and we'll see a better experience for everyone if BHVR doesn't know how to fix MMR.
-
BHVRs only optics (and this is a huge miss on their part) is exceptional laptop players and their own assumptions based on data. Data gives you no insight to player experience - the one thing you need to design a good game. So, I think what we are already seeing is survivors only doing gen repair to pip. Once a killer killed a survivor, if there are still 4 or more gens to be done, then people stop doing gens. I think its smart way to play for survivors and an act of protest too. With BHVR making it exceptionally harder for console players by not only messing with gen work, but increasingly removing palettes and jungle gyms from games is to learn new ways to run the killer. Killers do what they've always done - gen pressure and hook watch. With gen pressure now being taken care of by BHVR masterminds, Killers are staying close to hooks. So we are seeing a doubling down on tunneling, slugging and camping. Killers are given a huge lopsided gift and BHVR could not predict what Killers would resort to these tactics en masse. Fun.
-
Yea, revealing Ghostface is absolutely broken.- at least in some cases. I was staring at him coming directly to me (full view) within 32 meters and he walked all the way to me and downed by in one hit. It all took place in well over 1.5 seconds. I'd say closer to 4 since we were staring at each other on Limpkin Lane in the middle of the street as he simply walked up to me without rush. His add ons were Olden's Address Book and Driver's License.
-
EPIC fail by the developers. It is harder than ever. Patrick mentioned he cared about brining in new people into the game and satisfying the streamers with variety - which means 90% of us in the middle are just grind meat. The insult is that any event brings out the highest tier killer which entirely removes all the fun.
-
I've bit my tongue for so long, but the developers at Behavior are so tone deaf. It is so apparent that their only focus is for high-end players and they couldn't care squat for new players who joined when the failed MMR system was enabled. They certainly are more interested in making the game fun for experienced killers (don't seem to empower the new ones because perks that are a slog to earn aren't the way to do that). To add insult to injury, they finally were transparent in testing a new MMR in April 2022, but #########, all they did was remove the transparency of the grades showing after end game collapse? Again with being tone deaf, they released a new tome (devotion) and buffed new killers and then crickets --- if you know what needs to be done with the MMR, then turn the levers and fix it!!!!! Since the test and now the new rift/killer buffs, you've yet again favored all the older players who have overpowering experience and every single game I play I'm playing with multiple prestiged survivors who don't care if you are on the hook and expert killers who are so willing to kill the less experienced players. Behavior Interactive developers only look at data and not the experience of the players and be careful -- they data tells you what you want to see. It's like you're so damned focused on counting the buckets on a sinking ship rather than actually getting the water out of the damaged boat. Couldn't you have tossed a bone to the struggling community of players who have only known this terrible MMR
-
Behavior. if you want to make the game more enticing to new killers who are struggling to learn to be a good killer, start with making their viewing angle wider and let it diminish over their success rate or make there lunge a bit longer. Stop creating massive killer perks that take the fun out of the game for relatively new players or less experienced players. Experienced killers are gobbling that up and new killers have a really hard time earning enough Bloodpoints to get those perks. Also, admit that the MMR doesn't exist. As a new killer I am constantly paired with prestiged, flashlight wielding teams who simply humiliate me by Bloodpoints farming a new killer. As a survivor, I'm increasingly paired with seriously experienced killers who are using all the meta perks to make my game miserable. Stop creating crazy killer perks that can only be used by the experienced. I am a devout 1, level 58 and yesterday I was paired with a Twitch streamer killer that was devout 5, level 83. What?!?
-
There is no MMR! Either the attempt at an MMR is so flawed that it can't manage the volume of people and so throws you into overly imbalanced match to get one int a match timely or they turn it off at specific times (every night) so it doesn't even matter. I really am trying to avoid to add to the poison of complaints that Behavior is receiving because it's hard to put your soul into something that everyone dumps on, but I find I only play now to chat with my friends. The game itself I don't look forward to playing. The fact that Behavior removes the transparency of showing player level and only shows Grade is circumstantial evidence of the lack of functioning MMR.
