That is why one must use spine chill and play stealthy while dealing with nurse, but most survivors want to play rambo.
-
The devs wanted 50% of survivors to be able to leave the trial without much difficulty and the changes do deliver that.
That makes the game boring as a survivor player, hard for killers with high mobility and unforgiving for killers with low mobility.
If all survivors knew how to use spine chill, they would survive much more easily...
For me the ruin rework would be more acceptable if...
1) Wounded survivors receive a heavy debuff on the speed on all actions, including running and vaulting. Common, they just got a knife on their back, no one would be able to do anything physical or mental with the same speed of an uninjured survivor. That would make healing mandatory and would end chases more quickly.
2) Give low mobility killers more speed, like leatherface. That would make survivors fly away from a gen just at the sight of the killer.
-
To be honest, as an almost exclusive survivor player, I find hitting skill checks while on ruin more fun than knowing that I can finish the gens without difficulty.
I was on a trial against a good hunter. At the end of the trial, 2 survivors managed to escape. It felt boring, I had not got hooked even once. The 50% kill balance goal is boring.
-
The other survivors do have the right to get something from the map too, that suggestion can be bad for the team. Or even worse, one SWF could open all chests and keep giving nice items to everyone across the map.

I am getting a strange pleasure of being devious and sadistic.
I avoid getting into long chaces. I try to ambush with demogorgon by placing its portals at hidden places.
Once I down a survivor, I use insidious and wait for them to rescue from the hook.
Once the gens are finished, I keep teleporting from gate to gate using mori and BBC. Depending on the situation, I use insidous and mori and keep killing the survivors.
My feeling is that chases are a mistake since many survivors are very good at looping. So we invest on the other option, wich is ambush...
-
I am training myseful to play without ruin and experiment with being devious.
I am avoiding getting into chases, I do now identify baits like progressed generators, hooked survivors and so on.
Using noed and insidious. Camping and tunneling. It is fun. Gonna try mori next time with all the rest.
All games get 3-4 survivors at endgame. Only noed and bbc and demo teleport saves the day.
The devs will unleash a new monster with that ruin nerf...
-
Using insidous and noed I managed to get my 3 or 4k.
I decided to play nasty and dirty, camping and always tunneling.
At the future gonna use mori.

I most play as survivor. If I do survive 50% of the time with the current gen rush situation, then winning will not give any pleasure at all.
And at current PTB situation, I do gen without much worry 70% of the trial, specially if the killer is busy with a survivor good at looping.
I dont care if I survive frequently at the trial because surviving without any kind of effort or difficulty means nothing.
So even if they do "balance" the game for survivors to win 50% of the time, it kills what made me love this game as a survivor player.
The killer side is more complicated. As a killer, I want faster lobbys and I want the pleasure to outwit the survivors and kill them for sadistic pleasure. But right now, at PTB the survivors does not require to fear the killer. They just 360, loop endlessly and gen rush while you are busy with 1 survivor.
Seeing pro killers at youtube struggling against the current situation and seeing how easy is to win as a survivor with gen rush most of the games, I have no doubt that the game may not be for me anymore.
Ruin worked more or less 50% of the time both as a survivor and as a killer with the luck of not getting against pro SWF survivors.

I played as killer and survivor.
The good:
- The new Lery map rework is good but it felt very dark and a bit unconfortable to play as a killer.
- The new doc music (theme and chase) is okay, disturbing but not as good as demogorgon or myers music.
- With whispers, the shock blast seems useful.
- The new ruin concept is not bad but it is flawed.
The bad:
- Playing as a survivor feel very easy. Sometimes when 1 gen is left with 3-4 survivors alive, they try to mess around with the killer instead of doing gens. If the game keeps that way I will consider stop playing it.
- Playing as a killer feel overwhelming as the gens are done very fast. It is not uncommon to 4 gens gets done after only 1-2 hooks. If the game keeps that way I will consider stop playing it.
- 3-4k seems only doable with agressive methods like noed, insidious + noed, mori, camping and tunneling.
- Pop goes weasel is not usable with ruin.
What could be done:
- Devs must acknowledge that gen rush is real and it is bad for both survivors and killers.
- There is no challenge or fun of being a survivor if surviving is effortless or likely.
- The new ruin could be redone as another perk without totem.
- The old ruin could be redone by making gens much slower to be done instead of punishing using skill checks.
- The doctor 3 seconds delay could be removed.
- The blast cooldown would be okay if halved.
- Pop goes weasel should sinergy with ruin.
-
The 3 second cooldown is ridiculous, it makes the power pointless as you said.
With whispers, the Static Blast seems useful but the high cooldown time makes it very situational.
With a lot of effort I am getting a 1k each trial at best.
As other players posted, DBD is now a theme park attraction, survivors comes, gets amused and leave the trial unharmed and happy on treating the killers like idiots.

Wait, what do you mean it can't be used?
When someone stops working on a gen, does it automatically start sparking and stops the killer from kicking it?
yes

But the devs do balance the game to appease the less experienced survivors, it is the main reason for the ruin nerf.
Reality and the future will tell wich side is right. My reading is that only the most hardcore killers will remain, the casual killers will just vanish.
I would not mind loosing that much if I could try another trial as easily as the survivor. But waiting 10 minutes on lobby is simply not doable.
-
I think they are okay in my opinion.
For casual players, challenges cant be too hard.
Everyone has different levels of skill while playing.
It is a thin layer between an impossible challenge and a doable one.
-
Indeed. Legion must be allowed to use its power more freely and have the option to miss at least 1 or 2 attacks.
-
I think Oni is fine as it is... and I speak as a survivor player most of the times.
-
Both perks for me are fine as a killer and survivor player.
-
I think it is fine as it is.
Also it makes blood warden so much more viable.
-
As a survivor I love ONI. When he screams we all know that trouble will come. He is scary because he can track you with your blood.
Very good Oni killers can wipe a team easily.
-
Rewards for rescuing only happens at safe hooks.
The game is made for survivors and killers to hate each other. The Entity loves that.
For me, it is a rare occurence being rescued in a poor timing.
-
Spine chill is a good counter perk for insidious. When face camping, I either hold the hook for other players to gen rush or I gen rush myself.
-
I agree. Legion must have the option to deliver at least 3 missed attacks.
The 360 survivor maneuver makes not missing with legion very hard.
Legion power is not a lethal one.
Other killer powers have a lower cooldown and a higher lethality.
Legion is all about stalling, making the game lasting longer with its power but it does not really work that way.
I also suggest that Legion may use the locker to hide himself.
-
Samara from the Grudge or the ghost from Ju-On
Pinhead or the female Cenobite from Hellraiser with Cristine as a survivor.
-
People will gather their friends and do it easily...
-
People will probably complete those challenges using their friends...
