  • Coming from someone that loves playing Clown, I never thought I'd see a Survivor saying they hate playing against Clown since they're regarded as one of the worst if not the worst Killer in the game.

Anyway, my most hated Killer is probably Doctor. At least until I get Calm Spirit then he's just an M1'ing potato. So I'll go ahead and say Billy as well due to his high mobility and insta-downs.

  • I made a thread with a suggestion on balancing Gen Speeds. I think if they at least gave it or a similar method a try, more Killer's might find it to be a more enjoyable experience. Even with the huge maps being an issue imo, this should resolve it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/132770/generator-suggestions#latest

  • "My question for y’all is: What perks do you expect them to change, when do you think they might get changed, and what do you think/hope the change will be? Maybe one of the posts here might gain traction with enough killers and survivors that the devs might consider it."

I expect and forsee doom. Doom I tell you! DOOOOOM!!!!

I highly doubt this thread let alone any of these posts will be seen by the devs, after coming back to this forum fairly often, I noticed that a lot of threads come and go quickly as soon as people stop posting to it.

  • My favorite memory(ies) of DbD was when I first started. I loved playing Clown on Killer as my main and didn't have to rely on specific perks to play the game. I didn't know just how broken the game balance was and just enjoyed the game for what it was. Ignorance truly is bliss.

Idk about removing SWF from public matchmaking since voice chat would allow survivor balance to affect both solos and SWFs near equally, but I agree with the other two. The Killer's ability to hear them should be proximity-based as well.

How would it balance it equally? Let me run a scenario here. Two friends join a lobby, one stays on on side of the map, the other on the opposite side. Both are with the other two solo survivors, however, they're still talking across the map. Now they can relay information to each other and pass it on to the solo's. You call that balanced?

  • @undeadcookie said:

Either this or just add voice chat and start balancing around it.

The game quite obviously isn't designed with survivor communication in mind, so regardless of what the devs say, SWF is inherently unfair. It's pretty much socially acceptable cheating. And rightfully so- who wouldn't wanna play with their friends? But people who say SWF aren't a major problem with this game are kinda just wrong. There's almost no point in playing a stealth killer like Wraith or Ghost Face because an SWF squad will just constantly be telling each other where you are exactly.

EDIT: Or block SWFs from running the same perks.

I sort of agree with this idea, however, only on the exceptions that SWF is removed from public matchmaking (Custom can do whatever), the voice chat is local (meaning that it varies based on Survivor location) and that the Killer can hear it.

  • Name: The Corrupt

    Ability: One of us

After spending years watching normal people interact, you're able to blend in with the crowd.

    SANE STATE

While in the Sane State, take on the appearance of one of the Survivor's in the trial. Your heart beat and terror radius is hidden.

Your corrupt mind has lead you to take on many skills that you use to gain the advantage over others. While others may see you as being helpful, you're really setting back their progress. (You will appear to be repairing a generator normally but you will instead be regressing a generator's progress at the normal Survivor's speed.)

Picking up a Survivor's MedKit and using it on an injured Survivor will cause the Deep Wound status effect. (Uses up 25% of the items progress)

Picking up a Survivor's Toolbox and using it will allow you to regress generator speed faster.

Picking up and using a Survivor's Flashlight will allow you to blind a Survivor, forcing them to drop their currently held item.

Staying near other Survivor's will make your deception start to crack. After 15 seconds you will have a twisted smile, After 25 Seconds you will begin cracking up, After 35 Seconds you can't hold back anymore and switch to the Insanity State.

    INSANITY STATE

Can manually be switched by holding Mouse 2. Transitioning into the Insanity State causes you to burst out in a crazed laugh (Similar to Oni). The surge of bloodlust and adrenaline overcomes you (Movement speed increased by 10%, running locked in). You cannot hold any items while in this state. You can no longer focus on regressing Generator Speed manually. (Reverts to kick)

You can only return to the Sane State by staying away from Survivor's for 20 seconds. Any Survivor's within your terror radius or too close to you will stop and reset the timer. When returning to the Sane State, you will take on the appearance of another Survivor at random.

    WEAPON: Poisoned Dagger

Any Survivor hit by you become poisoned (Similar in effect to Borrowed Time), as time goes on the poison will moderately slow the Survivor down unless they mend.

*Perhaps instead of mending, the Survivor will have to look around for hidden places containing an antidote?*

    ADD-ON's

Killer's Medkit: Same ability as above, similar rarities as a regular Survivor's, dropped when the Insanity State is initiated. If a Survivor attempts to pick this item up they will yell out, drop the item and be affected by the same poison used by the dagger. (Poisoned Pins)

Killer's Toolbox: Same ability as above, similar rarities as a regular Survivor's, dropped when the Insanity State is initiated. If a Survivor attempts to pick this item up they will yell out, drop the item and be put in the Injured State. (Barbed Wire)

Killer's Flashlight: Same ability as above, similar rarities as a regular Survivor's, dropped when the Insanity State is initiated. If a Survivor attempts to pick this item up they will yell out, drop the item and be affected by the same poison used by the dagger. (Poisoned Pins)

Barbed Hook modification: No one takes your pray away from you unscathed, you wrap barbed wire around your victim after hooking them. Any Survivor rescuing a Hooked Survivor will be put into the Injured State.

Serrated Hook modification: No one escapes you unscathed. Any Survivor that is Unhooked has the Mangled effect applied.

    That's all I've got so far. I know, I know, I'm overpowered. :P

Kind of like a buffed Legion, I suppose. *shrug*

Oh, and the only way to obtain the Killer's tools is via the Bloodweb. This Killer cannot search in chests.

  • Not really a counter to it and afaik there is no such announcement that they plan on nerfing Gen speed. They seem very Survivor biased as it is so it could happen soon or never. Not one of the developers have acknowledged that Gen speeds are a problem and no one has confirmed it's being worked on. The "Toolbox changes" may not even be a nerf. Because they say it has less charges, sure, but it kind of sounds like the upside to that is it helps instantly gain a chunk of Gen progress.

So with that being said, you can either stop playing Killer because it may or may not ever get better or you can continue to play Killer and just deal with it. I myself play Killer every now and then to be as toxic as possible as my way of getting back at the devs.

  • First of all, OP, what even is this title? "People Who Say SWF Should Be Banned Has Never Gone Against People That Work Together" when, clearly, they have gone against people that work together. That is the entirety of what SWF is.

    >on average 30% of the time

    >Literally hardly no one saves

So the other 70% of the time you were saved?

    >someone is literally trying to help you

As a solo Survivor, I disagree with your percentages. It's almost guaranteed that anyone will save you. I've saved plenty of people and they've saved me plenty of times. That's how teamwork works, you don't have to be friends to be a good teammate.

    >People are telling me this is op. Just. WHAT.

Yes, it's OP. "Information wins wars" - Dr. Stone.

    >People in solo que games do that anyway.

Solo's can't talk to each other during the round. So no, no they cannot.

    >you know your a good killer if you can actually take them all down.

Don't try to spin it around and act like the Killer's just not skilled enough.

To finish up. You literally just literally said that like literally? Literally?! Why would you literally say that it literally happened like that, like literally?

  • I recently ran into someone with this kind of mindset. We were on Meat Plant versus Pig where I started two Gens myself, looped the Killer for awhile and saved a Jane from being downed twice by blocking Pig but when I ran to a Dwight with the killer on my ass while injured, hoping he'd block for me, he didn't. He just booked it then took the time to open a gate and leave. When I asked what his problem was he said he wasn't obligated, we weren't a team and he didn't want to get hit.

So to answer your question, OP: It's a moral decision. Being that you could have saved your fellow Survivor from certain death for which they would have been grateful or you could have been the selfish coward that you are and leave them to die for which they will hate you and if they see you again, they may remember the prick that's a selfish Survivor and make no efforts to save you. That, OP, is Karma.

I tend to think of it like this, everyone contributed to your Survival so you should make any effort you can to show your gratitude if given the opportunity, such as blocking the Killer from downing someone to going for that last save at the end of the game but not to go out of your way if it means you'll most certainly die as well (Eg: A facecamping Bubba). In that case they should understand.

However! If you just run straight to a gate and open it so you can leave, you're selfish act may have doomed a Survivor on a hook that could have been saved by the other two Survivors that aren't cowards because now you put a timer on, now they have limited time for an opportunity to save the Survivor and now you just contributed to the hooked Survivor's possible death.

People aren't making their own individual efforts so YOU can get out alive. They're doing it so everyone can get out alive. This is not a solo 1v1 game, if it were, you would be starting all five gens yourself against a Killer. This is a team effort of 4v1 where everyone contributes in one way or another so you should help each other to do just that, survive.

There isn’t a toolbox In every chest . You’re being ridiculous. 4 survivors have to do 5 gens Which is the MAJORITY of YOUR gens. AND they’re highlighted for you as a killer. There’s even a perk that lets you see them working on specific gens 😂 get outtaaaa here with your killer sided nonsense. Killers should be penalized for face camping. Give everyone doing generators a speed boost while killer is within a certain radius of a hooked survivor. That’ll learn em ! 😂 The game is HIDE AND SEEK and when sought you find somebody else. You DONT HAVE TO KILL EVERYONE EVERY GAME. Just get who you can not by face camping (because it’s really not that serious and it’s not fun) ,

It's possible to get one in every chest. I've played games where the Survivor's had a different item or nothing but after I start playing two to three of them have Toolboxes all of a sudden. So it kind of feels like Toolboxes are a more common find than anything else and ANY Toolbox is a powerful asset.

Huh. So I guess you didn't even read most of what I said. What are you, a troll? I said one of the problems Killer's face is ridiculously fast Gen speeds. Doesn't matter if they're highlighted if it's a huge map, I've had games where I patrolled Gens and both were totally dead, I walk away to check the other then head back, Gen started. Then you're saying that I have to use Discordance if I want to play Killer. Sounds just like in the past when you have to use Ruin. You're just putting a band-aid on something the developer should be changing so it's equally enjoyable for both sides. I don't agree with the band-aid method.

"That'll learn em" what? If a Killer's camping a hook they clearly don't care about the progress of the gens. Hell, if I wanted to kill Survivor's quickly, I'd use perks combined with Monstrous Shrine.

"Hide and Seek" No, it's Dead by Daylight. I can play Killer however I want to and you as the Survivor don't have a choice in the matter. Don't try pushing your "Survivor's rules for Killer" nonsense on me.

Indeed, you don't have to kill every Survivor in every game, even BHVR supports tea time with the Killer aka farming/boosting, but it still shouldn't be as difficult and frustrating to do as it currently is for those that DO want to try and kill every Survivor. I don't do tea time, I play to win, so usually I would play seriously and that's what I find enjoyable. Who are you to tell me what is and isn't?

  • 1: Heh, I totally understand why people are joking about the first one. I was thinking: "Okay, well, Killer's are blinded by flashlights because there's a beam being shined directly in their eyes. What exactly is blinding a Killer from looking at a Survivor on a hook?" but on a more serious note, what exactly is your logic for WHY a Killer would be blinded for standing near a hooked Survivor? Secondly, your suggesting that the Killer should be blinded simply for 'standing' near the hook. Okay, so the obvious result of this is Survivor's will just follow any Killer every time they down someone, showing zero respect and the Killer know's what they intend to do so they think to wait to interrupt the save but *upps, you're standing too close to the hook! Blinded for 5 seconds!*. Free unhook save, No punish. You call that fun, AliveSurvive?

2: Same issue as before, you're heavily punishing Killer's and awarding disrespectful Survivors. Also, I personally don't care about points, or Ranks. So this would have little effect on anyone sharing a similar mindset. In the end, if the devs implemented this they'd piss off more Killers and cause more quitting or longer queue times for Survivors.

3: Yet again, awarding disrespectful Survivors.

It's no wonder no one's really responded seriously to your suggestions, because your suggestions are absurd. I have a similar feeling as those before me too. I feel like you're complaining because you keep getting facecamped and don't want to be punished for rage quitting.

  • Mmmm..maybe 85% of the time I play Killer? It's a certain type of satisfaction, you know? The dev's give Survivor's everything, they're biased and focused mainly on them having fun but me as the Killer? I can take all that away. It's like my personal way of getting back at the dev's and your suffering motivates me.

  • @Gmoose17 said:

Why is this still a thing? Every other game of survivor is just a face camping killer. Can’t we atleast make it to where killers can’t grab you off the hook? It’s not like getting hit through pallets and having awful hit boxes aren’t bad enough. But face camping could atleast be nerfed to where you can’t grab off hook. It’s just not fun... isn’t that the whole point of the game?

Psh I rarely ever get to grab anyone off anything as it is because it's always been glitched and the dev's don't give ######### about fixing it. At least on the PC version, I see you play on the PS4 version though. Those lucky console s.o.b.s.

I know what you mean as far as the getting hit through pallets thing goes but that's just because the dev's use home made 'dedicated' servers out of trash cans.

"It's just not fun" ? Hah, you know I hear this kind of selfish thing often from Survivors. You think it's fun for me as a Killer having to deal with these ridiculously fast gen speeds? By the time I get a single stupid Survivor down the rest of their team already has two Gens started and that's because the dev's require there be a thousand pallets around every corner, infinite loops and make it so it takes years to break a single pallet or recover from a stun since they're so Survivor biased, it's just that damn hard to actually down a Survivor! That's on base Gen speed too! If the Survivors bring Toolboxes...it's even worse or actually, you know what? They don't even have to bring their own Toolbox either, since the dev's think it's a good idea to find a toolbox in every chest as well. Not to mention these huge maps making it impossible to even pressure Gens.

With all of these factors ruining my fun as Killer, it's only fair that I get to ruin yours.

  • @Happy2Heal4You said:

Extending the length of gens time is not the solution imo. There definitely needs to be a solution but increased gen times will make playing survivor more boring then it already is and would harm solo survivor players so much that it would be forcing people to resort to playing SWF way more often just so they can have a chance to coordinate the progress of gens better.

I know people want ruin back, but it’s hard to deny that ruin as a fix to gen speeds was the most inconsistent solution there could be. you could have a ruin see almost little use due to getting cleansed early, or have it last the entire match and have super slow gens that give the killer more time then they need.

From the outcry of the community after the ruin nerf and ScottJunds video suggesting a new slowdown mechanic that caught the attention of the devs. I’m confident that the gen speeds will get addressed either the next mid chapter patch or the chapter 16 patch. So let’s just be patient and wait to see what they do.

Maybe they should add broken parts to Gens? Like forcing the Survivor to actively look around for replacements in piles of junk scattered around the map stopping progress on the Gen and adding additional time to install the replacement.

  • Look at that pic..so majestic. He's watching the crows.
