Hey, I'd be totally ok if there were some changes to survivor perks. I don't use DS too often, so I'm totally ok with changes to that. My opinion is maybe Undying could do without the aura reading?

Your logic and reasoning is there, counting on the fact your other teammates will be doing something productive. Unfortunately, that is usually not the case with solo queue, lol.

I feel your pain. 99.9999% of my survivor games are soloQ. And I can't tell you how many times I wish there was a perk to kick a fellow survivor to keep them from de-hooking me when the killer is right there (and they typically do not have BT). I always say "Thanks for farming me" even if no one else can hear me.

As for the aura reading, yeah, I know that's a pain (I do not have Blight yet, so no undying for me as killer). I've been chased off multiple times, but all the same, there are times that I did cleanse the hex totem even with undying. Depends on what the killer is doing at the time and how far away you are. (Ran into one killer who had Ruin, Undying, Devour Hope and Haunted Grounds! Every totem was lit. We got rid HG early, assume we got the Undying at some point, and eventually Ruin, but Devour Hope was our downfall.)

  • lol this is funny. If ruin is on, and the killer is actively chasing people off gens, go looking for the totems. What's the issue? It's not like the totems spawn randomly on the map. Learn where they are, they spawn in the same general areas on each map. And there are only 5 of those too. Cleanse the dull ones if you think he's running undying.

And remember, 2 hexes, means 2 less real perks. Once those totems are cleansed, he just lost half his perks. And I cannot tell you how many times I have had ruin, or devour hope, or even that stupid third seal one (for a rift challenge) and I swear 30 seconds into the match and it's gone! It's even more fun when you spawn in as a survivor and the hex totem is right in front of you!

I would be more than happy to get rid of ruin/undying if they go rid of DS and Unbreakable. You up for that? Oh wait, here's an idea:

ATTENTION DEVS: Make it so certain powerful perks cannot be used together, ie you could only use one of these "meta" perks in your build. I'd be for that too.

  • lol these comments are hilarious. I've played against a couple of hags, and I walk in and when I get close to one of the 3 sacred gens, I crouch. I do it from a "safe" distance, where I think she won't have put traps, but not so far away that it takes forever. Then you work on a gen. The hag doesn't do a lot of patrolling. If her traps are going off in a different area, she's over there dealing with it, hitting survivors and running them off and resetting traps.

If you, as a survivor, create a terrible 3 gen, that's on YOU and your team of idiots. Had a match recently where they did just that, and I was the Doctor. Most had been double hooked, but no one was out. It was a really nasty 3 gen. I've never seen 3 gens closer. They come in, I hit them, they run off. A few times, they came really close to getting one of the gens. Eventually got the 3K because I wasn't stupid and didn't chase them far (the one that got away used the hatch after I hooked the 3rd.) They needed one of those gens to win and that's where I stayed. Early game, learn to split up the gens. If you finish a gen and see the gen next to it is done, well, you are setting yourself up for a painful end game session if don't go get one on the far side of the map (or center, if you haven't done that yet.)

Oh also keep in mind, the Hag only has 10 traps. 10! She isn't trapping every loop and gen and window and pallet and doorway. 10! That's it. She strategically places her traps where she believes dumb survivors will run or walk across.

The Trapper isn't all the different. He is defensive as well. And I was caught in a trap and it took 13 tries to finally get out. I counted. He just stood there, watching... waiting for me to break free... then hit me and he didn't have any addons to make it more difficult to get out of either. Just bad rng for me.

Every killer is different and requires different play styles to counter. Just because you can't adapt to her "low skill" playstyle, well, that's on you.

  • I feel your pain. Once, when I was rank 16, I had a rank 4 who was tagging along with friends. It was not a fun match, when I finally did get someone downed, only to have him flashlight stun me and later body block me.

Please enable seeing at least the COLORS of the ranks.

As a side note, as a rank 10, I had some matches with people up to rank 20... and I felt really bad owning them. I'm sure it was no fun for them, as it wasn't fun when I was starting out either. It would be nice to know that I am playing "newer" people and to go easier on them, to help them learn and have an enjoyable match. Not run them off from playing DBD because they couldn't even get ONE gen done!

  • Most hooks have more than one way to access them. When SWFs are around, I don't walk through a pallet. Sure it might take a little longer, but almost every time I've been able to get there. (Yes, I admit, once or twice, they have gotten loose.)

Ok but how do you compensate the remaining survivors for the DC? Do they get bloodpoints? Fewer generators to complete? Faster progression?

For the survivors, give them full points/progress towards altruism as if they rescued/healed the person. As for the gens...maybe a slight buff to repair, depending on how far into the game the DC'd player got.

  • Hmmm, I do realize they use it for different purposes... like when I give them the hatch and they do it, I assume they are thanking me not saying "BWAHAHA! I live, you suck! FREEEEDOM!" But it's based on the circumstances and I don't think that's how they meant it in this case.

Clearly this does bother me a little bit, but it's because this player didn't "earn" the right to teabag... I guess. There are plenty of players who are SO much better than me, and I try and try and I can't get a hit on them. Most of them don't teabag. Some do. Recently a rank 4 did it, but he wasn't as good as he thought and he died on hook. Had an interesting conversation afterwards, where he said he was better than me. Didn't matter that I pointed out he died (he was the 3rd to die.) He blamed it on the soloQ. Shrugs.

There have been survivors that I have done extended chases and I never got a hit on them. Most of the time now, I chase them away and go back to the gens, because I know they are beyond my skill.

Sigh. Someday, I might be as good as they are.

People who teabag at the exit gates a lot are usually people who don’t escape that often because they’re bad. They get so pumped up from their rare victory that they can’t help but twerk like crazy on their way out.

That’s just my theory anyway, based on seeing which teammates tend to teabag for no reason and how they played.

lol that makes complete sense now. they are twerking, not teabagging, because they actually LIVED for once. lol

    Thanks for the clarification. =)

  • So, I could live with if one player DCs you get a safety pip, but full blood points. But that's because I'm still working on getting the perks I want and need the bloodpoints. (At 54 bloodwebs, I finally got BBQ tier 1... stupid me for prestiging.) But honestly, I think it should count for sacrifice and devout emblems as well.

I've been playing for 3 months now and until this week, 99% of it was as survivor. The only "bad" (in my book) killers I've encountered are the ones that camp/tunnel. I've not had any that I would consider toxic.

What exactly does a toxic killer do to make him toxic?

  • Hmm, not sure, as I've only seen others talk about it and nothing specific, hence my question.

  • One key, one person. The hatch then closes or becomes non-functional.

    Or a killer offering:

Green Trapped Hatch - there are 2 locks on this hatch, requires 2 keys to unlock

Purple Trapped Hatch - 2 locks, if more than 1 survivor is left, player is zapped and placed in dying state and can't escape through the hatch until healed

Red Trapped Hatch - 2 locks, if any gens remain only the last survivor through lives. The entity claims the others.

Of course, the hatches work normally when there is only 1 survivor left.

Last second switch is usually done by toxic survivors, that want to make sure, that you can't prepare for their loadout. Nearly every killer would adjust his loadout if he sees 4 clicky clicky Claudettes or 4 keys. But with the last second switch you have 0 time to equip Franklins, throw in a Mori or use better addons.

I've only been playing hardcore killer for the last week (got my gaming computer last Friday morning) so my experience/knowledge is somewhat limited. Do killers often change their perks based on what the survivors are carrying? I usually just play with my favorite/best perks regardless. However, if someone brings a key, I will give that survivor more attention (I don't camp or tunnel) than the others.

  • @Mandy said:

    It's done for memes normally.

I don't last second switch (a lot of killers do dodge though) but when I want to SWF we do this, just for the fun of it.

Currently we will play as Dwelf due to the holiday season.

Gotcha. Thanks. A match full of dwelfs would be funny. lol

  • Yes you can. I was playing as Doctor, with Distressing, and the map Hawkins came up. My static blast can hit a good portion of that map. I went about hooking the survivors and I had just death hooked my first when I realized, I had not seen one of the survivors at all. It was Yui. I death hooked another and then I found her. I wish I looked at her perks, but I didn't, but she must've been running calm spirit because she wouldn't scream when I zapped her. She died on first hook when the Claud decided to use the exit to escape rather than risk a rescue.

  • I have a P3 Claudette and a P3 Doctor. Neither was worth it. I had the perks I wanted on both when I prestige'd. I thought it would give me better availability, but honestly, it's not really that noticeable and I'm still trying to get BBQ back on my Doctor (lvl 46 and I haven't seen it in any bloodweb yet.)

  • When I first started, I would only do killer to complete a daily, and I would be friendly. Trying to get survivors to understand that was difficult.

Now, I play mostly killer. As mid-level, I encounter a LOT of toxic people. Usually, they are better ranked than me. Every night before logging off, I play a friendly match. I've never gotten hate from it and usually, if they are on the PC, they might chat briefly. Most of the time, I barely make blood points. I'm not the one farming. I let them get pallet or flash light stuns. I'll chase them for a while. I do get a hit in on them, but I don't down them or hook them. (There have been exactly two matches where the survivors actually wanted to help me get points and let me hook them, but as I said, that's only happened twice.)

I find ending the day, on an enjoyable, stress-free match, more satisfying then trying to kill everyone before they escape. Even if I am successful, it is still stressful.

  • It depends on the match. If the DC is early, or, as in one match, 2 players suicided on their first hook, I go easy on the other survivors. I slow down my pace, let them get points, but I'll usually try to hook them twice as well, I just won't kill them. Once I've hooked them twice, I let them do their thing. Sometimes, if it's been a really tough match, and one survivor has played well, or at least not been a tea bagging jerk like his team mates, I'll let them live. (Once, I did pick one survivor to spare at the start of a match based off their name. It was a cool name.)

What's funny is that as a killer, you will never get a survivor doing the same thing. When I first started playing killer, I was so over matched, and no one took pity. Playing late at night, as a rank 16, with a REALLY sad computer, I would often get matched against green and purple survivors and even occasionally red, I assume those were in a party with another player. None ever offered to let me hook them for free. Often they tea bagged. Even if I got one of the "brown" ranks downed, if there were higher level players, they would flashlight stun me or body block till the survivor escaped.

I've had survivors give up and offer themselves to be suicide hooked. (I was playing as Plague or Doctor.) But that's because they couldn't make any progress on gens and kept puking or were constantly going mad. Not because they outplayed me.

  • lol it was frustrating. I found out if I face the wall while working on a gen near the map edge, I could get in the 20's regularly. As killer, trying to m1 a juking opponent, was ... often futile. Some players asked post game if I was trolling. Which I wasn't. Oh and I'm at 60 FPS now and it's beautiful.

  • This sounds like the player as from my bug report #653160. I was the Doctor. Hopefully it will help.

  • Really? I've had soooo many matches that were hugely imbalanced. I'm a rank 16 killer. Just learning how to play various killers. "Late" (typically around 9 pm east coast time or later) I get hardly any matches with survivors even close to my level. Had one survivor taunt me about how easy it was when they were 8 ranks better. I get matches with green and purple survivors all the time. Very rarely do I get red rank, but it happens (I assume they are in a group with another player, but that's just my guess.)

As a level 10 survivor (now 6), I had a level 2 killer. How does that happen?!?!? He mopped the floor with all of us.

There should be an option to have "closer" matches, knowing it might take longer.
