There are distinct similarities in the mechanics of the power though. You place your power in a particular spot, this creates a radius survivors have to avoid to prevent triggering the power, if they do trigger it, they're potentially forfeiting a health state.

It's like putting Ghostface's stalking mechanic onto one of the Knights Guards and having them stalk for you.

And comparing them is like comparing Ghostfaces stalk to Knights guards - different interaction, similar results. The radius placing isn’t similar because you aren’t placing a radius, you’re pathing an AI. You can actually make reactionary decisions with Knights power based on information like aura reads, you can’t really do that with skullmerchant because she can only place the drones where she’s at, you might as well compare her to trapper then.

also, guards have an element of stealth and surprise to them depending on the distance and intervening los blockers. With a drone, survivors will always know when they are in danger of entering the space of one, and once it’s placed, there is no more to think about, as even if the killer chased you into it, at worst you let them injure you and hold w and their one power is useless. If you try that with a knight, the knight loses nothing as at best you get injured and then chased by both guard and knight, so now you have to hold w, or at worst the knight just gets his power back and now any loop you run to is a major risk if the killer is vaguely familiar with how to play spirit (And yes, I do think Spirit is an overall better comparison for Knight than Skullmerchant).

She has the power to patrol 3 gens just like knight does. That is why she is similar to me. She doesnt have chase power. At least knight has a little bit more going for him. Also looks cooler, and doesnt have stolen mori from Freddy.

Oh yea, I agree Knight is just better overall. she really isn’t anything like the knight though, outside of a broad strategy they may share (which I don’t think she could even do as well considering she is super basic m1).

the reason I also don’t like the comparison is because Knight is misattributed as “just a 3 gen killer” when that’s the crayon muncher play style of Knights. There are much better 3 gen killers than Knight who also don’t identify by that single strat.

I don't like how the new killer look like. Too Fortnitey for me. The 2 survivors MEH.. i'll buy them all with iri shards and only because im perfectionist and want to own all characters. Won't play any of them though. Not the killer or the survivors.

Updated maps look ok but fact remains red forest is one of the most unbalanced maps in this game due to the size and it should be fixed so..whatever.. we get pretty maps which are still pain in the backside for slower killers or M1 killers.

Killer is going to be another knight who is 3 gen killer thats about it. Survivor perks are all kinda not interested except the blood rush which is going to make killers tunnel survivors from death hook. I guess that is something DBD needed.

ONLY thing im interested is the new eruption. I love using info perks and now having an info perk with gen defense is making me very happy.

This killer is not a comparison to knight, you people do this every chapter “X is another Y!” You don’t even play X. If the new killer is bad, just say that.

i play killer slightly more than survivor and i have to agree with u. I think certain tactics and play Styles need to be nerfed across the board. pre dropping, shift w, tunneling, and camping to be specific. These things take little to no skill yet are far more effective than things that actually take skill.

i think survivors need a stamina bar which will effect their speed if fully depleted. Dropping a pallet and running for a long time should drain the bar a decent amount. This will punish pre dropping mainly and shift w a little bit. This will force survivors to micromanage their stamina while looping.

killers needs restrictions by hooks and penalties for being around them to long. Also heavy penalties for hooking the same survivor twice.

    what Things actually take skill?

  • So haven’t tried this killer on PTB but after looking at them, someone please help me out… Why does this killer have a stationary drone that only has a range of 20 meters, doesn’t take any immediate affects, doesn’t hinder or otherwise inconvenience the survivor unless they… Stand in it for what, 20 whole seconds…

or decide they want to interact with it for some reason (is there really a reason when the range is 20 M and the exposed effect doesn’t cause exhaustion, falls off immediately if you leave the area, and doesn’t even hide the killers approach since it activates undetectable (not oblivious for some reason even though that makes at least 10% more sense).

and the killer doesn’t even do anything while you’re out having all the fun interacting with her little drones…

have the devs lost their minds?

My favourite realm (Red Forest) getting updated is exciting

I feel like I haven’t even played on that map this whole year

For me he is fun when you try to go for long path patrols and chases. Also it feels nice to send quickly a guard to break a pallet while you want to pick up a Survivor or break a gen or something. I like to send guards on gens to push Survivors and make them busy.

3-gen is probably the best strategy for him as well as droppong instatnly your guards but I try to avoid it since it is boring to play him like that.

I don’t even agree that insta-drop is the best way to play him. Feels like when you play like that at certain loops, the survivor will just quickly run the opposite way, wasting your power. I typically play him only with long patrol path’s, taking advantage of multiple aura reads to cut survivors off mid-route.

his 3 gen is great, but imo he is also one of those killers who can defend 3 gens no other killer can because his power gets such great area coverage and his guards are not easily ignored.

I have gotten so many hits(even downs) from long-path guard patrols… and setting yourself for map wide double hits that actually pay off? I personally find that crap more fun than Wesker, Blight, or Deathslinger.

I kind of made this post because they get crapped on way too much. People will say blatantly incorrect things like “he’s just a worse Artist” without ever putting in the time to see what kind of unique benefits the character has and how they can be fun at max potential. Same thing was done to hag most of her existence lol

  • This killer is going to suck, but I simply cannot not try and make every killer work, at least somewhat. Most of the fun for me is finding ways to win with every killer in unique ways… That said this is the first in probably 6 years where I’ve said to myself “#########… am I actually going to do with this”..

Also their are a couple perks that seem like complete BD on the survivor side, and Eruption is getting nerfed, so not overly optimistic

  • Maybe people don’t love playing against him, but they hate playing against most of the killers. I’m more worried about the people who actually enjoy PLAYING knight. He actually has some interesting and fun tricks outside of just camping and tunneling and is pretty unique imo. Doesn’t get the credit he deserves
