For the last couple of days, I've been playing soloQ survivor and for 3 games in a row, I got tunnelled out of the game: by a wraith, by a sadako and by a chucky. I was constantly in a chase, right off my first and second hooks. And in all 3 instances, I did died~!

However,.. two of those games, other surv were always on gens and got all gens done by the time I was put on my 3rd hook. Eventhough I died everytime, seeing the gate open as the entity took me away, felt like a definite win! I occupied killer long enough to make that possible. The only downside is that the game doesn't make that clear.

My suggestion is to give a special title/bonus points to surv who are 3 hooked in a row, but managed to waste/last a long time. Something like "Martyr"/"Runner" to make the win condition more obvious for survs who are strictly tunnelled out in games, but manage to facilitate a 3 person out. Maybe instead of the Entity taking them away, they just float up into light (with holy music) or something to that effect.

That's a really cool idea actually, DbD would have to get a complete makeover to fix the tunneling problem, and it would involve essentially tearing down everything they've built up and changing the core mechanics of the game. There's no feasible way to make tunneling less appealing without making killer miserable to play.

Making the players who get tunneled/camped to death feel a little bit better would better the game in its entirety.

When the killer can camp you to death through your second hook before the meter fills, we have a problem.

I think it's fine how it is tbh, sure it could fill up a little faster, but it's there to prevent face-camping, not proxy camping.

IMO, they didn't even really need to add this mechanic in the first place, face camping is a really bad tactic and if you complain about it then you're most likely just not very good at the game. Sure it sucks to be on the receiving end of it, but the killer won't be winning off of it. And how often do you get a face-camper anyways? Before this mechanic was introduced, I would get a face-camper every 20-30 games. It was a very rare occurrence, because for one it's not fun, and two it's just not a good tactic. It was gambling on the fact that the team is filled with solo queuers/newbies, and any strat where you gamble is just that, a gamble. Most would rather just play the game normally and rely on their own skill instead of relying on luck.

And on the very rare occurrence that I did get a face-camper, it would be for a very valid reason. I could most likely count one hand the amount of times I was face-camped first hook in my entirety of dbd.

I don't play those games but I few people I know who play DBD and Rust say Rust is 100% worse.

Rust isn't serious though. The amount of times I've been called worse than anything in DBD but I know that it's just messing around. It's like old COD lobbies. You won't see anyone coming to your twitch chat or to your steam profile to trash talk you after the wipe is over, it's just trash talk in game. It ends after the interaction is over. People in the DBD community carry it outside of those interactions which is why I think DBD is worse.

  • @Volcz said:

Because there are often punishments in place to deter that type of behavior in those games. League will hit you with a 14 day suspension just to start (if it hasn't changed), which is basically the 'warning'.

R6S is literally creating a 'reputation system' to deter toxicity, so the better you behave/positive matches you have, the better your rewards you'll get, bonuses, etc. And if you decide to continue being toxic, you get point penalties, exp penalties, and can be suspended from the more serious playmodes (standard, ranked).

This game has nothing to punish that behavior so people will always feel free to say whatever they want. I mean, even the report system is a complete joke.

I bet you, if this game had something like League's punishment system or R6S's, things would change fast & more people would bite their tongue.

Yes but even before those systems people would trash talk and it would just be trash talk. People would move on. They wouldn't sit there and latch to the person, you wouldn't see many people going to twitch chats to insult the streamer for winning, it ended when the game ended. It was (most of the time) nothing more than that.

  • Dude this genuinely made me tear up.

What a heart warming story. <3

  • YES!

SpooknJukes made a video where he brought builds specifically meant for pipping and he would just safety pip after a 37k point game. It's absolutely ridiculous. And yeah, killers get more bloodpoints since it's 4 times easier to get bloodpoints than it is for a survivor. I agree that survivor should get more bloodpoints. It's honestly the main reason that I just don't play the game if survivor doesn't have a bloodpoint bonus, because you legit get nothing from playing. You can play a full 10 minute match and end the game with 15k bloodpoints. It's terrible.

    What else would you do?

SWF is the biggest imbalance in dbd and the hole bhvr dug themselves when they introduced it.

It can't be nerfed in game because it would punish people that just want to play with friends. But if played at a high enough level, it provides the biggest power trip I've seen in multiplayer games this far. Almost no killer stands any chance.

I think there should be something done about that without making the soloq experience worse. Giving the killer information, so that they could spice up their load out is the best idea currently available.

This game is not built to be fair. There's going to be imbalances everywhere, and there is currently. You can't try to fix everything.

I think that it's not a good idea. Like you said, people would lobby dodge even more and what is the solution to that? Force players to stay? The math is not mathening.

SWF are players that are playing together. The solution is not them to be punished just because people want an easy win. 💀

Yeah this is facts, TCSM had the same issue. They had to remove seeing partied players because queue times would take forever.

  • @Spare_Them_Mori_Me said:

A big thing Im seeing here is people want to know before the match if the teams will be sweaty or playful. This is a nice notion tbh. But it would break the game if it was just given to killers that its a SWF in lobby. Really wish the lobby didn't exist tbh. Just load the match.

If we give SWF info pre-match, killers would sweat. There would be no other option. But, why would they sweat? They could just lobby dodge. Im sure a few killers love that challenge, I sure do. But most players would skip it for an easier win/chill game. Dbd -is- supposed to be a chill party game. Everyone here has turned it into some competitive 'I deserve to win' BS. Grow up.This game isnt designed to be competitive. Its still a party game by design. And being a 'game', its supposed to be fun. If you're getting stressed out to the point of whining on the forums, and prefacing it with 'I dont wanna whine or anything, BUT', then find a new game. Bite that bullet and just find something better for yourself. You're worth it and deserve a good time gaming. That's not happening here. So move on imo.

The idea of removing SWFS or being told its a SWF is just entitlement behind a 'Its for balance and fairness' mirror. Its old, annoying, and said time and time again. Play the game, get better when you get stomped by learning, and find out what you can do to improve.

This is all so perfectly said. You sir, have a correct opinion haha

If you can't "punish people for playing with friends", why are SWFs allowed to punish Killers with an unfair advantage?

I don't think it's as big of an issue that you make it out to be. The game is a 1v4 asymmetrical game. Right out of the gates, the 1v4 shows that the game can never and will never be fair in any way, shape or form. Of course the killer is going to struggle more against a team that works together than a team that runs around doing side objectives and barely touching gens. It's only natural.

You even said yourself that you're playing at high mmr. Which is the top percentile of players. That's not going to be easy. If top tier play isn't fun for you, then there's nothing you can really do tbh unless you get into the mindset that you're trying to improve instead of win the game.

If the game stresses you out that much, maybe take a break from killer? Focus on your mental health. If the game isn't fun, then you shouldn't play it. I'm certainly taking a break because I'm tired of everyone having such a bad attitude in this game lol.

The post also gives off the vibes that you just ran into one of these groups of players and you're kind of stressed out? You had a bad match and you've come here to cool your head? Unfortunately that will happen and you just have to calm down. Chill out after a highly intense match, go drink some water, go have a walk, cool off.

  • Start making events more gameplay focused instead of a side thing. This event has optional things that quite literally do nothing in gameplay. It's a fun little time waster that got boring after the first couple of matches that I played. After day one, people just started playing the game like normal, because outside of the event quests there's no point to the event at all. Even the halloween event which was the coolest event in all of DbD history, wasn't interacted with outside of the survivors. The killer didn't have time to waste most of the time to make the event worth it. You didn't get anything crazy from doing the event whilst in a match, so there was no point in wasting time, which just led back to the same issue where players just acted like the event didn't even exist. There is no substance to the events at all. There's no point to them outside of cosmetics. It's boring.

  • @Skitten56 said:

Overall I think the event was fun and enjoyable but it could definitely use a few changes to make it more interactive and less stale as time went on. Usually players only really have fun with the event the first few days and then its back to playing as usual. This means that anyone who just wants to have fun with the event still feels pressure to play as usual to not throw the game as survivors or make the game boring for survivors who might want to play normally. I think the suggestion in the survey about separate event queues might be a good idea to help with this. Maybe have it active only the first week and then every other day to help with queue times or only if x amount of players are online if it becomes a problem.

These are the main things I think regarding this event though:

I think for event items like snowballs that have practically no effect on regular gameplay, obtaining them also shouldn't have impact on gameplay. That way people can still have fun with them without feeling like they are throwing the game just by engaging with it. I would make it so survivors & killers could carry many more snowballs and have the pickup time be faster.

Snowmen are fun but the noise notifications punish players for trying to use them when generally using them is already punishing. I do like how they can be used to try and hide from the killers or used by the killer to try and surprise survivors. This year it is more difficult for such things though since it is easy to get kicked out if anyone has a snowball.

    For events in general:

I love gameplay changing events like this years anniversary and Halloween events. The anniversary event added new ways that survivors and killers could interact with each other that made gameplay interesting and allowed for new tactics and ways to use perks. As a result it was very engaging. The Halloween event added a new location and ways to store haste speed boosts on the map to use if needed. The new map zone was especially interesting but it could be used for survivors to quickly travel across large maps if they could remember which portals went where. Similarly killers could also use this new map zone to quickly traverse the map and also as a way to try and sneak up on survivors.

I also enjoy the little fun things like the fireworks for the new years event and stuff like snowmen and snowballs. I also enjoy event items even if they seem silly like toolboxes that explode into fireworks or the firecrackers or party starters for their nice visual effects.

Yeah I'm really tired of events that take time to do, most killers who wanted to win literally didn't interact with anything the event had to offer during the halloween event because it took too much time away from them for seemingly no good reason.

I know there’s probably limitations, I don’t know anything about coding and what not.. but I would have liked to see a heavier holiday / Christmas / snowy theme across the board. Maybe snowfall effects? Reindeer and a sleigh going across the sky? More snow on the ground? Etc.. Many of the maps felt no different, other than piles of snow skulls and the snowmen scattered across the place.

The snow skulls were fun. I had many chases where we would exchange snow skulls at each other while looping. No suggestions here.

The snowmen were cool. I think me personally, I preferred the old, cuter snowmen, but I understand the horror vibe y’all sought to achieve. But there was something unnerving about the old snowmen… so cute, but was the killer inside?

Lastly, I would have liked another event objective for both sides. Perhaps something like collecting presents and putting them under the tree to collect rewards or something like that. Something that made the event feel more “alive” I guess. Many players ignored the event entirely, not paying any attention to the snowskulls or snowmen. I think an event objective that requires some thought and input increases participation and interest.

I know, it didn't really feel like Christmas at all, I'm grateful for the work that BHVR did put into the event, but I would've liked to see some maps with snow instead of nothing... I also hate events where the event is kinda optional, like nothing new is added that makes gameplay better or anything so it's really like there's not even an event going on at all if the players feel like sweating. Nothings gonna get in your way, it's entirely up to the killer to have a good time or not.

I had a plague who had a snowball fight with everyone, and it was a good time. They won the game, and no one was mad about it. Then I got a twins the next game with 4 slowdowns, a mori, that just tunneled and then bled the last person out because they couldn't mori them. It's like they're solely playing the game to win, saying f*ck everyone who wants to have fun on a video game during a once a year event. It's exhausting.

Wraith actually makes weird growly noises when he is near an you can hear his footsteps listen out for those an you'll be ok

I'm not talking about him being right beside you. If you're on a gen around any walls at all, you get hit every single time. I know about the noise and that you can see him, I'm not a newbie.

There is no way to tell that he's uncloaking on the other side of a wall. Yes it's not very good if he's out in the open, but if he has any cover at all you are going to get hit. There's almost no chance that you won't unless they miss the swing somehow.

  • @Astel said:

No it is not op at all. You can just look around and see wraith's shape even when he is invisible.

And it is not his best add-on, faster speed and faster uncloaking are the best.

It absolutely is OP. As long as he's behind a wall or something, you can't really see him coming until he's right on top of you, smacking you in the back.
