I tend to have the same issues, doesn't matter if I play killer or survivor. I play on Xbox One X. The biggest issue I find is that it always triggers during the most inconvenient times. During skillchecks which you'll then end up missing, during hits, when bloodlust triggers, etc. Really disorienting when it happens, most of the time I lose sight of the survivor I was trying to chase or just fail to make distance on the killer because I ran into a wall during the freeze.

I doubt this video helps, I think there's plenty of evidence/proof already, but figured I'd upload it anyways.

It should be rank based. Plus/minus 8 ranks is the theoretical threshold/goal.

BUT this isn’t working at all, as have the devs acknowledged. They are working on a new matchmaking system using a separate hidden rank that calculates your skill based on parameters they won’t reveal. They have made some tests on the live servers already. No confirmation when this will go live though.

Ah, that's good to know then. I was getting really confused as to why I kept being matched up with red ranks, but a broken matchmaking would explain that. Thank you for your answer, I'll just plow through the savage beatdowns until they change the matchmaking then or get good enough in the meantime to compete 😂

  • Thanks for raising this question, I've wondered this since I've started playing as well. It makes it really hard to tell exactly how useful it is to choose a certain add-on over the other in a match. For experienced players it probably doesn't matter as you get a feel for them, but as a new player it's way too unclear to really understand what they do for you.

  • I totally feel you, as a new player to the game myself I know it can feel quite punishing to try out something new on this game. But it's what Zuruas says, it's all about your mindset. Accept the fact you're not going to 4K every match when trying out a killer for the first time or third time or tenth time.

Hell, I still go into matches with killers I'm comfortable with with the mindset of having a good chase or being able to mindgame a survivor to count as a win. Any kills I get are great and feel rewarding for sure, but I'm just happy that I can always walk away with some decent blood points and upgrade other killers/survivors.

Just see it this way, any game you don't really get kills is a game where you successfully rebelled against the Entity. Eat my shorts Entity, you're not the boss of us.... Ooohhhh look new survivors at the campfire, I shall make you proud Entity sensei.

  • Did you press the button prompt to actually use the hatch? I know that sounds like a stupid question, but I used to think just being on the hatch would be enough, but you actually do need to press a button to enter the hatch.

Also 4 gens in a 3v1 situation is impossible more or less. 3 gens in a 3v1 is normally considered that the killer already won.

You may be right about the 4 gens in a 3v1 situation being really hard. As a new player, I am not the leading expert on what would be a balanced solution so perhaps a reduction of one gen still wouldn't fix much. All I know is that incentivising DC's is not a healthy way of adressing the problem, there should be motivations for people to continue and finish the game instead.

  • Quentin looks like he actually got some good sleep for once.

  • I don't think I'm a fan of being able to DC without penalty, regardless of other DC's. As much as I think it really sucks if you start a game off on the wrong foot like that, in these cases the killer can't be blamed for the DC of the survivor but will not be rewarded as much if everyone else can just freely DC afterwards instead of finishing the game. They may have used offerings and add-ons that will be lost and spent a lot of time probably waiting for a game as well.

Perhaps instead of being able to freely DC, if you start a game where one person ends up DC'ed before anything has been done (no downs, hooks, etc), the game could lower the generator requirement by 1 to incentivise people to make the best of it anyways instead of incentivising people to drop out of the game as well.

  • Thank you for the tips @Seraphor . I'll actually try and see if I have more succes just letting them drop the pallet and preventing their vault back over it instead in the smaller loops.

Stupid question perhaps, but what are god pallets?

Edit: nevermind, I found it here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/197642/acronyms-terms-used-in-dbd#latest!
