It's absolutely Jason being tuned too high. He has:

    • Insane map traversal
    • Insane info while IN said map traversal
    • Complete and total stealth… while in said map traversal.
    • Almost little to no real tell on where he is while in said map traversal.
    • 4.6 ranged killer

Every single ranged killer is 4.4 for a reason, because on loops like pallets they are busted as 4.6, yet here Jason is and he gets to be 4.6 while having one of the best projectiles in the game. There's no logic to it, it isn't just everyone else being bad, he straight up out classes every other ranged killer in EVERY category.

Map traversal? Jason beats them. Info? Jason beats them. Stealth? Jason beats them. Being 4.6 while they're all 4.4? Like c'mon dawg.

Then the nice cherry on top is that his counterplay… is doing nothing. His counterplay is boring, you just have to crouch walk around and do nothing. If you do a gen? He can see that. If you do a totem? He can see that. Which is why totem builds are so busted on him. Throw on thrill of the hunt, it takes ages to do a totem, he'll find you doing the totem and then when he appears it forces you to scream which resets the entire progress of the totem.

He's just not well put together.

I get the frustration, but that comment kind of overstates it, like balance is this simple thing where one factor fully decides everything. It is not.

First, “Jason is being tuned too high” doesn’t really follow from “he’s strong in map traversal and stealth.” Those are kind of ceilings/strengths, but match balance isn’t only stats. It’s also the player skill, the whole loadout setup, and what tradeoffs are actually happening. If he’s exceptional at moving around, and hard to pin down, that can be a response to the fact that ranged pressure (and strong projectiles) still needs time to impact. It also needs clear line of sight, and then it has to punish missed shots, failed predictions, all that. In practice, strong ranged kits often look “unfair” only when the opponent is taking the wrong paths or not respecting spacing, like at all.

Second, the “every ranged killer is 4.4 for a reason” line feels incomplete. Tuning isn’t always symmetrical across killers because different kits apply pressure differently. Some lean more into mobility, some into direct chase strength, some into information, some into zoning. A killer can be “4.6” and still not be universally better in every real match situation, specially when players coordinate perks, add-ons, body-block routes, sound cues, and survivor roles just to deny his particular win condition. That comment assumes 4.6 automatically equals outclassing “every category,” but categories are only meaningfully comparable when kits and counterplay constraints line up.

Third, “counterplay is doing nothing” is kind of the tell that it’s being framed too simplistically. Crouch-walking around might reduce some visibility or information, but it doesn’t mean that’s the only counterplay, and it definitely doesn’t mean it’s “doing nothing.” Survivors can still affect how effective he is through positioning near vaults and pallet webs, stealth windows, baiting line of fire, splitting up so his projectile connects with fewer targets, and choosing the route options that force bad angles… even if the comment stops early, the actual in-game options aren’t that empty.

It's not Jason being tuned too high, it's the other ranged killers being tuned too low. They could all use improvements to varying degrees, Springtrap included.

This is the truth. Buff the killers that are undertuned. There is no reason to nerf killers except for Blight and Nurse.
