Not so long ago I started realizing something. According to Otz, if the Killer kills/sacrifices one survivor before the 4th gen is done, it's an assured victory for the Killer. So in order to win, it's enough for the killer to remove at least one single survivor from the game, and do it as soon as possible. What does it tell us? It shows, that plain tunneling of a single person is actually the most efficient strategy in this game.

So what does DS have to do with this? Yeah, as we all know, most killers are afraid of it and have to respect it, that leads to tunneling 2 guys one after another instead of 1. And the killer knows there is a chance of DS by the obsession present in the game. Yes, just those simple spider legs around a survivor in the HUD is what actually saves survivors from being destroyed by the most efficient (and generally considered as toxic) strategy.

So what happens if there is no obsession in this game? For me as a killer it means only one thing: I can tunnel the ######### out of the survivor I hooked first, and they can't do anything with it. Moreover, I actually HAVE to tunnel him, since that's the most efficient strategy: I need to eliminate one survivor before the 4th gen. So I tunnel and always win when that happens. As sorry as I may be for that first guy, I can't help but use what is the most efficient way to win if I actually want to win. The game dictates the rules, which I have to follow, if I'm interested in winning.

When I play survivor and there is no obsession in this game, it gives me creeps from the very beginning, since I understand that now I'm on the receiving end of it. If the killer is smart enough and is not a white knight, he will do the same thing, and we are not able to stop him. He will tunnel the first one, he will do this within the first 3 gens, and he will win. As survivors, in this case we basically have to hope for the Killer's ignorance or mercy, as only in these cases we may not lose.

Killing one guy without a DS within the first 3 gens is what any killer can achieve. If the first guy is tough, the Killer can just find another one, who is weaker. Down and hook him, proxy camp and tunnel him, hook, proxycamp and tunnel again, hook the last time. Boom, 3 remaining players and 2+ remaining gens. You can congratulate yourself with victory. Moreover, you may not even feel sorry for using an "unfair strategy": the game itself dictates that it's the best way to win. You are not toxic, the game mechanics are.

So it means that every survivor team needs to have at least one DS in the game in order to at least have a chance against a killer who knows this "2-gen 3-surv principle" and is not going to deliberately play less efficient on moral grounds. That makes this perk not "strong" or "OP", it actually makes it NECESSARY for survivors to have. Tunneling is what wins any game, and the game doesn't give any base-kit tools to counter it. Whatever you do, you absolutely NEED those spider legs of salvation present in this game, or else the game is not going to be pleasant.

You don't need to tunnel to win, since when I go for whoever's the closest to me while defending my gens I'm rank 1 and haven't needed to tunnel to win only situation is if it's like mothers dwelling the biggest map of the game either than that its quite easy to win without tunneling if you have atleast ruin and it doesn't get popped in the first ten seconds

I'd rather they don't nerf or change survivor movement purely for this reason. What about actually making the aiming better?

What about a good aim assist system for controllers instead? It's very doable, id managed to create a very nice aim assist for Doom 2016 and Eternal that feels great, they actually made an FPS game playable on a controller. Or even add in gyro support for switch and Dualshock controllers (idk if Xbox controllers have it, but last I checked they don't). Would probably help out with that whole aiming and tracking thing, if it really is that bad. Deathslinger and Huntress would become much nicer to play on console if you could do the majority of your aiming with the stick and then move your controller to make the small adjustments to your aim.

I don't find it very hard at all to hit shots as death slinger or any ranged killers and I even have mad drift in my controller its just something u have to practice at and you gotta remember not all killers are for everyone

i do not like that they changed mori's again, AGAIN. with all the survivor perks they should just make it so after they get unhooked once they can no longer be killed for the rest of the trial. Devs always just listen to complaining survivors who suck at the game.

@Peanits ruining the killer experience with every patch. Man i was excited about that patch notes list until i saw that addition. Next they gonna take Mori's out completely cuz survivors dont wanna die in dead by daylight.

I personally wanted different Mori's for the different killers

You gotta think about the time it took they only needed to change one word for Moris to be reworked so that means they're looking for a new way to rework keys and I agree with what they've done I made it to rank 1 killer and survivor and moris just finish the game if you want what basically is a mori but better try using devour hope it grants you so much more plus its not as easy as 1 hook oh you're dead now I just simply don't want u in the game plus you can tunnel that which is bs and unfun on the killers side.

If you dont like it then no point in playing. Only thing that bothers me is the camping killers because I feel it truly ruins the match.

I dont really notice bugs every single time I play so for me it ain't that bad. The bug where you couldn't hook a survivor was bad though but they sorted it relatively quick.

The game isn't for everyone but playing since March isnt a long time

At the moment most of the bugs are when you play killer since sometimes you can't hear footsteps or downed survivors

I don't want to sound like seeking attention. I'm aiming to tell my reasoning with this little rant so if you wanna give some time to it, maybe you can relate to some of my problems with the game.

First off, I started playing since March 2020. I saw Bill's trailer on YouTube and I love L4D2. I also bought Dying Light for the same reason, the idea of a crossover game with many franchises sounded super cool. First times I was scared, it felt like a legit horror game. I also tried killer once but at my first game I faced with absolutely toxic survivors. I was playing huntress in haddonfield, one match that i could never forget. Eventually I learned few things and it started to not feel scary anymore. it felt like a frustrating competitive game. But is it even a competitive game when RNG is over the top? Just because of the high rng i think the skill matters to only some extent.

    • Latency is very frustrating. My hatches won't hit, my dead hard's won't work and i get exhausted on ground. i can't have fun with a badly programmed game. Now I don't know whether if i should blame dedicated servers or the community for asking for dedicated servers for this, but it is my biggest problem with this game.
    • They fix ONE bug, which brings at least FOUR more bugs. Sometimes I just think they're making up bugs just to tell they're bugfixing all the time. One thing I liked was Spirit's sounds during phase. I considered that as a shadow nerf but they fixed it. Can't even have good things accidentally.
    • Very few content. I can't explain how many times i went back to survivor tutorial just to get my running vault work properly. This game needs a practice mode where you can set scenarios, practice with the situations, and map exploring (especially for The Game). My friends do not play this game so I can't use Custom Game. I'm only limited with ranked matches and i keep going against red rank swfs when i'm just a green rank killer.
    • Complaining about toxicity doesn't but it's still a problem for me. Being an *sshole and mocking the opponent is something i don't comprehend. (t-bags, hook smacks, facecamping (which is a ######### strategy IMO), etc.) it's not f*cking funny c'mon.
    • Meta never changes. I really don't like second chance perks even if they're powerful. Map awareness and detection was always more important to me since I'm a solo Q, but the odds of using underrated perks are so low. IMO the meta BT, DS, DH and Adrenaline/Unbreakable is very clutch and boring. OoO is broken in certain maps. (Can't we ever have a MoM buff?)

I think this game has a great potential but currently it's in wrong hands. I'm not sure if it will be better with different coders but I really can't enjoy this game anymore. If you could relate to some of my problems then I'm happy. Thank you for reading my topic and i wish you good games.

Sir u just need to play more to learn how the game works march 2020 lmao

If you want to quote Scott you should know he also suggest nerfing perks like DS, making generators slower at the beginning etc, giving SWF drawbacks

I mean I think ds is strong but very counterable since basically just don't tunnel which happens a lot so hence why a lot of people run it and I don't agree with making gens slower at the start of game since there are killers such as myers who would become even more powerful and there are already perks that can stop gen rushing at start called corrupt and don't get me started on Freddy and how he can slow gens with addons and slowing gens would literally make it impossible to go up against an iri head huntress which is so broken.

before this gets reported for being off topic or whatever i want to say this IS about dead by daylight and how impactful the SWF voice comms is so please read it before you assume make an assumption, but recently i'v been feeling a little burned out so went to play something else for a short bit but wanted that more casual DbD feeling so i came across Among us.

before i carry on this WILL be long and no TL:DR will be included, sorry for the inconvenience.

anyways i'v been playing it for a good 2 or so weeks now and something i'v noticed has a strong presence in Among us is friends on voice comms.

    what do i mean?

well when you are the "Imposter" role you are essentially the "killer" role in DBD though your main tool of murder is stealth, and your goal just like DbD is to kill everyone or at least as many people as you can before they figure out its you and "eject you" which basically kills you.

if you manage to get the Imposter role which is randomly assigned in a 10man lobby when the game starts so nobody should know who is it besides the person who gains the role you will on some occasions come across a lobby where you feel that the crew are "psychic" in that when you start killing people they know who it is and get rid of you almost immediately, i chocked this up to being sloppy and noticeable but its becoming more obvious over time what the issue is.

    they are Surviving With Friends.

by this i mean if their little friend circle on discord is not the imposter they will do their "tasks" (the win objective as the crew members) and if one of their friends is killed they will announce over their voice comms (usually discord) that X killed friend or if they witness someone else get killed they will tell each other X killed that guy and with the stacked odds of 3,4,5 or even 6 people voting against you odds are the moment they announce this you lose because they will all eject you and end the game there.

as the Impostor your job just became impossible as the power role.

    sound familiar?

this same issue plagues DbD, survive with friend gives you power far above the games intended design which not only makes it so they gain clairvoyant abilities of knowing who, what, where and when just because of their voice comms but they actively destroy the "enemies" ability to even function because stealth just got taken from you due to the hivemind feeling sensation that is voice comms and just going on a rampage means they will get you killed/ejected immediately but they can also abuse this by staying together non-stop because they KNOW who is NOT the killer making it so the Imposter cannot do their job.

in DbD terms this is essentially SWF taking the power role from the killer by having a hive minded enemy constantly knowing your whereabouts, your perks as soon as 1 sees an perk they ALL know about it, each others constant location and ultimately which objectives to cooperate on which they know is safest.

    This. Breaks. The. Game.

unlike Among us though DbD CAN be solved and balanced of its issue!

because teams are NOT randomly assigned a killer/Impostor, players know what role they will be given when they start the search and because of this the game CAN be adjusted to accommodate and rebalanced around this issue.

im talking making voice comms baseline, buffing solo survivors by baselining perks like bond, kindred and sole survivor, mainly detection perks SWF will never bother with, limiting how many defensive "second chance" perks a team can have so more players in your SWF group the less you can bring and solo players being unaffected by this rule (its bad enough playing solo atm they need the help) and with all this in mind we can FINALLY start making the killer role scary again.

The killer role would have the ability to be Re-balanced if those above changes are made since we can adapt perks and powers with these baseline stats and features in mind, im talking baselining perks like monstrous shrine (this thing is awful in general and should be baseline since basement = killer zone and should be baseline), surge, territorial and that one perk that hides your red stain when you bloodlust (its that useless as a perk i cant even remember its name) then then some offering style items need to be baseline like Cypress mori (its the least used offering in the game and is useless compared to its green or purple brothers) and faint/clear reagent (this one is meh but would be selected depending on killer, so faint for trapper or clear for huntress as examples)

then once that has been done killers can gain a new "against the odds" style buff where the more SWF members are against them then some perks become temporarily baseline for each member of the SWF group up to 4 (so 8 total perks) which adapt to whichever killer you pick.

so example (a bad one i dont play wraith) would be if i were to pick wraith and the enemy has a 4man SWF, then i would get 4 perks baseline: NOED, infectious fright, agitation and blood warden because these would help my wraith play smooth out against the coordination of the SWF while allowing me to slot more optional perks to deal with the harder difficulty, again these would adapt depending on the killer, with this im hoping it will smooth out the lingering issues of some killers being useless against a SWF group and encourage more people to try and beat them rather than avoid them.

for the solo survivor though this is where temporary perks come in.

as a solo survivor you are already against the odds because nobody is partnered with you, they are likely to traitor you and worst case scenario they will farm you on the hook.

with these baseline perks for being solo im hoping it will make playing solo more barely even though it wont guarantee you more escapes, at least you wont feel powerless and with the adaptive killer temperary perks it means you being solo will mean a weaker killer due to less perks, the perks i recommend for solo surviving as previously mentioned that are adapted to solo survivor is sole survivor, kindred, bond and mettle of man.

why mettle of man? this would encourage solo survivors to take more protection hits which is something i see very few survivors do when i notice they are solo from both killer and solo survivor point of view.

finally to finish off give solo survivors and "Against the odds" killers a 25% bonus blood point gain PER Survive with Friend in the match.

so if a killer and 1 solo survivor join a lobby and there is a 3 man SWF group, both killer and solo survivor will gain 75% more blood points, this will encourage more... well going against the odds unlike with currently people will actively dodge SWF groups of any size because of the sheer advantages they bring mainly being that they already have cooperation and plans in mind for eachother where as the solo survivor will likely be the victim of their gameplay and the killer will be going against a more hiveminded enemy.

sorry for the long post but sitting playing Among us made me realize how bad of a state DbD match making really is when i could see the same power role issues in another game make the killer/impostor role completely powerless.

Do you understand how dumb this argument is? First of sure swf is harder to face but not impossible just get better and how do you expect the game to be playable with 8 perks it wouldn't work that's broken so that's why it isn't in the game so stop complaining I swear you only think killer sided and it shows.
