lockers. a lot of doctors use their static blast after hooking someone, so if you're within his TR hop in a locker to avoid it. unless he's a big brain he probably won't come looking for you. other than that just watch how he plays and adapt, some doctors who shock in advance require dropping pallets early to avoid the stun whereas others shock a bit too late so you can run a standard loop without much fear. ime the latter is more common, they can be so focused on shock therapy they actually extend loops for you. good luck!

Appreciate the advice and time!! Thank you so much <3

To add to the stuff others have already said, it's generally a pretty good idea to hop in a locker when he's fixing to hook someone. If he has BBQ it saves you from that and also a lot of Docs (including myself) tend to use the static blast after a hook to quickly find the next victim.

Edit: There's also Calm Spirit that keeps you from screaming. Not a meta perk I know but it also helps out against anything other killers have that make you scream.

Thank you! These are some great insights, stocked to implement some of them :)

If hes good and using shock therapy to prevent pallet drop, then drop the pallet early. If he sucks loop him like normal. Thats it, hes not complicated

I mean this works for a bit, but if you drop the pallets to early, he just breaks them, and if you do it to late like you said he just uses his ability, and then you get hit.

I mainly just don't want to have to rely on the map in order to counter a killer because that can be very unreliable ( bad loops, bad survivours that use all the pallets before you get in a chase, ect.). I get he isn't that complicated most of the time, but if they're using whispers I just find it virtually impossible to counter play them, then you end up replying on the map, which as you probably know is a horrible fail safe hahaha.

As was said before, don't camp pallets. You already know that though. :P

Also, you might've already noticed this too but he has an audio queue even from very far away while he's charging up his static blast. Use this opportunity to hop into a locker or run outside the edge of his terror radius, if you're close enough to do either one.

One other thing I don't see a lot of people say is that he's somewhat of a mindgame-able killer. If you give him the impression you're going to run for a pallet to try to drop it, you could just run even more and he'll lose distance on you. Or even sometimes you can get him to throw his shock in a certain direction he thinks you're going to go, and then you can go a different direction and end up dodging it sometimes.

I'm not a pro or Doctor expert necessarily but these are all things that I try to keep in mind when I go against him.

I actually just noticed the mind bomb audio cue today! Thank you for the advice, it definitely is giving me a way better idea of what do do.

    I appreciate you all! <3

  • I would just like to add that I feel the spirit isn't that hard to play against vs. some of the other killers in the game. Granted I know that when I want to make a post about nerfing killers I realize I just don't know how to play them, and need to evolve my counter play with their patches.

My biggest give away that I'm not counter playing properly is when I start screaming about how broken a killer is.

But that is just my opinion <3

    1. Play around short loops. Short loops are tough for the Doctor because his shock therapy doesn’t win him any distance since he’s constantly needing to use it to prevent the pallet drop. When the Doc uses Therapy he slows down so Doc’s use the therapy to deny the pallet or vault, which by the time survivor gets back to the pallet the Doc has gained distanced on them. The Doctor should repeat this process until they get a hit. Short loops however deny this since the Doc has to use Therapy more often which intern means more slow down which in the end means no distance gain for the Doc. So regular short pallet loops just transform Doc into a 115% M1 killer.
    2. In jungle gyms you want to block line of sight as often as possible. Blocking line of sight makes it harder for the Doctor to land therapy because they have to predict their aim rather then simply leading it.
    3. Never camp pallets. Camping pallets is the single worst thing you can do against him. Doctors will simply shock the pallet and then get a free hit.
    4. Avoid the shock blast is easily done. Whenever you hear the terror radius jump if you don’t want to be shocked jump into a locker.

This is very helpful, thank you so much for your insight :)

So when he goes to shock sometimes they are anticipating you camping the pallet or continuing predictable pathing so they can cut you off with the slowdown.

Generally you use unique pathing to cycle through loops to avoid any shock therapy.

Don't camp pallets please that's what they want

I appreciate the advice, thank you so much for your time :)

Yeah I figured that one out pretty quickly hahahahaha

Do gens, loop him and hide in lockers to rescue hooked survivors. You cannot hide from him. The second you hear his terror radius, run or do a gen, you can't HIDE.

I don't have much fun playing against him.

    Appreciate the advice!

  • I would just like to point out that if you fight fire with fire, we are all just going to burn each other.

I suggest being the change you want to see. I personally find the community quite toxic at times, which is why I'm going out of my way to message killers and be nice to them and thank them for good matches, and what not. Even if I get butt hurt, tunneled, or camped, I don't go out of my way to talk negatively to the killer. If I'm really in the mood I try to point out how their toxic the behavior is and how it just hurts the community as a whole, But I will never go out of my way to be a dick just because I'm upset. I have a best friend who is a killer main, and some of the messages he gets honestly really upset me, especially because 90% of the time it is simply because the survivor got out gamed, and I have experienced this from killers as well, but not any where the same amount.

The fact is though, I love this game. I honestly haven't enjoyed/hated a game as much as DBD, but I can't stop playing it. I don't want this game to fall apart because everyone starts abusing each other and justifying it because they have been abused. That just screws all of us over in the end. If you honestly care about the community, and this game you should lead by example and do on to others as you want done to you.

So in short if we really want things to improve we all as individuals need to start engaging in positive behavior, and ignoring, or having conversations with the toxic people. With that said how ever we can't be shaming or attacking toxic behavior because then they will just victims them selves, and justify their behavior. It's like punching the loud mouth in the bar, he will just think you're a dick, never actually correlate that they got punched because they were being a jackass. they just make them selves a victim and continue to repeat their behavior.

In short, if you are engaging in toxic behavior in anyway, you are killing the community. Be the change, and have conversations. Don't be a dick, and lets all try and bring the game back to a state we can all love and be proud of <3.
