Steve is definitely my favorite survivor to go against. His sound effects always make me LOL. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Killers are going to vary. Do you like chase focus? Do you like setting traps? Ambushing?
Survivors? You can play whoever you want. If you like Claudettes perks, but prefer Dwight, they can use eachothers perks in time.
The best part is that if you don't like a killer or survivor, you can level them without playing them to unlock their stuff.
The shrine of secrets can help you build your arsenal, too.

Jane's Head-on can be fun, Tapp's Detective's Hunch could pair well with your Nancy's Inner Strength, Cheryl's Soul Guard can be really helpful in some situations, etc. If I were you, I'd do some research on the perks and see what strikes your fancy.
Killers on the other hand, you can watch some videos to help get an idea of what playstyle you think would be fun. Personally I main P-head and Myers, but a lot of people like the range and versitility of other killers such as huntress, nurse, etc. Or you can be a rush-down character like oni or blight.
Tl;dr check survivor perk lists and watch some killer gameplay

Depends on what kind of playstyle you enjoy. Ghostface and Pig are s n e a k y (So is Myers, to a lesser extent.) Oni let's you go fast, so does Blight. A good beginner killer is Legion, they excel at getting people injured and one of their perks is pretty damn good. The other two are meme perks, but fun to use.
Deathslinger and Pyramid Head have ranged attacks, and Pyramid Head nullifies a large portion of the Survivor meta with his cages. Slinger has some of the best chase in the entire game, but lacks pressure.
Spirit is incredibly good and easy to use, to the point where she's a bit stupid OP. Freddy is the same way, but keep in mind Freddy will likely be getting some changes soon. Nerfs, probably.
Doctor is also really good. He's anti-stealth, with a bit of anti-loop in him. Clown is arguably one of the weakest killers in the game, but he's getting some reworks soon, hopefully which will buff him.
There's more, but if I were to explain every killer and all their perks, this post would be incredibly long. Just buy whoever you find fun, or whoever's perks you enjoy! There are a few cases where the killer is good but the perks are terrible, like in Oni's case, or the perks are pretty damn good but the killer isn't everybodies cup of tea. Like Hag, or Plague. Just research them, look up videos, see who you might enjoy!
Thanks I'm considering ghost or blight right now tbh, you're right about clown he needs a rework and a half to be good because even people that are good with him seem like they're having one [BAD WORD] of a time rn.

For Killers, well... Wraith can be a good bit of fun, imo, and so can Demo. Wraith is really good at sneaking up on people, and with Demo you have Shred. Billy's probably the best one, but he feels so clunky now compared to how he used to feel.

The changes are good. The timing, as well as the fact that the key update still isn't ready is #########.
Also, because this company is more mistake-prone than me after three Run and Cokes, they SOMEHOW made it impossible to kill people with Devour Hope if they're not on death hook

So, this is probably a killer-specific question. Some killers, like Trapper and Wraith, have really crappy moris, so theirs aren't worth the BP in my opinion. Other killers, like Hag and Spirit, have moris that I enjoy watching, so those could be considered worth the BP.
