Killers can't even tell when they're going against a SWF anymore, so your argument about not wanting to go against OP addons is pretty moot. Not only that, but they lose the addons regardless of the outcome of the game. Just play the game.
I have to agree with Kuri on this.
I rarely DC, but when I do its because of things like the game being taken hostage or the killer clearly cheating/lag switching. I mean seriously if I jump out a window, run into another house into the basement and bam I'm back at the window getting hit, why should I keep playing?
What about being hostage? I played a game with Freddy who used Class photo on a swamp map. He literally just kept the whole game from proceeding. He would not let us finish gens, he would keep us all in dream world, and he would not kill us. After 10 minutes of nothing happening (including me sitting under a hook in front of Freddy) I dc'd. I also been body blocked by the Wraith after I broke his Hex Ruin. He let the other people finish 4 gens and escape and just kept me there until I DC'd.
DCing for add-ons is wrong, just like lobby dodging due to items is wrong.
*Edit* I have also Dc'd several times when I hide in a locker to counter BBQ and a fellow survivor comes up and keeps opening the locker, keeping me stuck inside. Whats silly is none of the times this happen did the killer come after me or them.

That.... was an unexpected reply. At first I thought you were being sarcastic due to you bringing up every single main gripe killer mains have. I expected some kind of end of post zinger like: "That's what I would of said if I was noob like you." or something like that but it never came...
Huh, guess there are a few decent survivor mains amongst the toxic asshats.
On another note however, if your in a SWF, you should totally coordinate with them for the best possible escape strat. It's not the killers fault if you guys work together on voice chat to get the job done quickly and escape. :)
Yes its annoying as piss for killers to go up against SWF groups but most of the time killer mains hate them NOT because they work together and escape but because they're often a group of likeminded twats who will troll the killer every chance they get for sheits and giggles and all teabag the killer at the exit gates.
I used to work at Blizzard. One thing I learned is you have to look at the "intended" mechanics, and develop the "rule-set" from there. Just because you can do something does not mean that is what you are supposed to do. So that's how I look at it.
You are not "intended" to run around the same spot 1000000x to waste time. If the killer was not supposed to catch you in a pure chase, s/he would not have a speed boost over you. Hence things like infinite loops or infinite paths are not really intended that way.
You are not "intended" to chase the killer. Cause you know, s/he is the killer. Don't aggressively flashlight, was not intended that way.
If you gen rush, your points and emblems are very low. If you do one gen but unhook/save/chase/sabo/totems you get more BP and Emblems. Clearly that is the goal. (However, as a survivor there are not many objectives. If the killer does not catch or find someone, there is not much to do...
If you were supposed to be able to communicate negatively to the killer, there would be an emote or chat option such as the "come here" or "over there". Tea bagging is implied through crouching/standing. Its silly. Its like people in WoW who spent hours learning how to insult the opposite faction. If it was intended, you would be able to communicate directly.
On that note, you have things like BBQ and Chili that really does say "HEY DONT CAMP!" Tunneling is a little harder to justify both ways because the game does have perks saying "tunnel", but if you do you ruin the experience for another player. And intentionally giving a player a bad experience like that is bad, it could drive down player base.
I mean, perks like Borrowed Time really do say don't camp, people are supposed to be saved. Make your choice/Devour Hope/ Territorial Imperative literally tells you dont be near the hook. So the game is really really really trying to tell people don't camp.

As long as you don't pallet loop exploit me, I won't tunnel you or camp your hook.
Sooo... are you going to stop using the pallet loop exploit? Which btw is the sign of an unskilled player as a truly skilled playing can lose a killer without it.
inb4 some ignorant moron says: "It's not an exploit!" and then this thread turns into me attempting to educate them while they ignore every word I say.
I mainly play survivor, and man I could not agree more.
If I see a team mate exploiting/cheating/botting/afk I hope the killer camps and tunnel them.
I personally wont pallet loop exploit, I wont bring a flashlight into a game (if a chest gives me one I rarely use it), and I wont loop around ridiculous paths there were not intended to be abused. I don't tea bag nor do anything toxic.
I get camped a lot. Typically its because I destroyed a totem (I wont run if I can finish it even if the killer sees me). I also get camped if they know I know where a totem is. I been camped before because I was a bigger threat than the other players (kind of a compliment but still.)
Its not fun, and at times it makes me want to infinite pallet loop next time. What I think a core problem is is that there are different "types" of survivors and killers.
Type A) I win only if I 4k or only if I survive. (Campers/Tunnelers/Sluggers and Genrushers and min/max SWF)
Type B) I win if I enjoyed my game.
Type C) I win if I make other people angry or have a horrible time.
As a survivor I hate playing with players in group A and C. I don't want to be a gen jockey. I wont ignore unhooks/chests/dull totems. If I am the last survivor and the hatch isn't ready yet, I wont hide and force frustration/DC. I will work a gen knowing I will likely get caught. I will save someone even if I could let them die and take the hatch. I play 2-3 SWF. We dont coordinate items nor perks. There is a huge skill gap between me and my friends (they still blow up gens and fail a lot of skill checks).
The problem comes when you start getting too many players from types A/C. Killers who will do anything to ensure they get a 4k. Survivors who wont do anything risky or will hide and let people die to get the hatch. People who want to T-bag, or people who just want to be toxic.
So really comes down to a few things. You cant change people from Type A. You just have to accept they exist. They aren't doing anything "wrong" they just have different goals then you. Type B people tend to be the best to play with, and that is when some of the best after game chat occurs. Type C people need to be dealt with, and I feel that is both the developer's and the community's responsibility. I personally will not reward type C. If they anger me, I wont show it. If they are toxic to the killer, I try to offset it. I will even let the killer catch and kill me if they are being abused by another player. The less drama type C causes, the less they play.
So, in short, don't give into the hostility and don't let it change your play style. Killers: Don't take camping and tunneling as a basic strategy to all players. Reserve it for the toxic players. Survivors: Play the game you are dealt and don't exploit. Don't DC because you got outplayed, and don't intentionally anger the killer.
It is funny tho because you see players who call themselves killers or survivors. Stop being myopic and just consider yourself a DBD player. Stop hating the other half, cause the game would not exist if they did not exist.
-
Yes sorry,
The way I read it was different then I guess it was written. I do not see the need to make perks into basic skills.
Honestly I do not care if they hide items or not. The only time I use items is if I have a daily to do (sabo/heal) and I personally do not feel that the killer knowing beforehand creates a huge issue.
What I do care about is if killers lobby dodge due to items then they need to be penalized for dodging or hide items.
In short, hiding items is a solution for me, not a suggestion.

Ok hide them but make lightborn a built in basic killer skill.
Pointless bragging and creating an issue where there is none
Or, if you are a killer and see flashlights you do not wish to deal with, alter your load out to accommodate for Franklin's or Lightborn.
You, as a killer, have the opportunity to change these things. You can not get angry they exist if the game gives you ways to deal with them.
-
I agree with Fluffy on all accounts.
Too many times killers say there is a way to deal with their "bad" tactics such as camping (BT), slugging (unbreakable), Doctor (calm spirit), totems (small games), etc. So it only seems natural that the killers should also use the INGAME tactics to counter their frustrations (items and Franklins for example.)
As long as killers lobby dodge, there is really no argument on survivors Dc. They are sort of the same thing.
One of my favorite things I read on here from a killer post was "Survivors DC because they do not want to play the hand they are dealt." It always stuck to me because Killers get to see the hand as its dealt, and instantly decide if they want to reshuffle, while survivors have to wait. Killers at the moment can change their load out based on the hand dealt, so they already have an advantage.
I also agree on hiding survivor names for all or showing to all. I do not mind not knowing the killer (its actually part of the fun for me to alter my playstyle on the go) but I do want to know if the killer is HUNTRESSCAMPINGONDAROOF so when I do play I dont go waste time on a camping killer.

Because most of them don't know how to play survivor worth a damn. Don't play that stupid card when we BOTH KNOW that a skilled survivor is OP as hell with all the tools they have at their disposal and what do you encounter post rank 14? SKILLED SURVIVORS! Killers have a huge disadvantage at later ranks due to all the OP perks survivors get.
You want a middleground? FINE! Have the devs introduce a "Hard Core" mode that makes it so the survivors and killers get no perks but can still bring items/addons in. THEN we'll see how quickly all that "Skill" goes out the window for survivors and killers who rely heavily on perks while the ones who are truly skilled escape or get 4ks.
PS: Your quote got broke by the website NOT ME. I'm not stupid enough to try and quote you out of context to fling a baseless insult at someone.
I will gladly give up all survivor items and offerings if killers had to give up all add ons and offerings.

I am confused. Its ok for killers to lobby dodge due to items, but not ok for survivors to DC games due to add ons?
-
Its easy. Play survivor, go to a gen. Dont touch it, wait a while. Boom it explodes but you are by yourself!
-
I just did a game where I was the weak link. I helped with 2 gens, unhooked 2 people and died. I made some silly vaulting error (vaulted into the basement against a LF) and I still pipped at rank 1. Doing nothing but gens are not going to help pip. Like ClogWench said, unhook and heal.

If you are on PC you can add me to steam and we can play. Steam name is Kratorex

It is damn annoying. I had a match a little while ago where every survivor dc'd. I hit one they dc. I hit another they dc. Wasted my best add-ons for that ######### show.
Now I am imagining a hatchet one-shotting people so hard they DC!

There are multiple reasons survivors DC. Let me name a few
- They get found first and they are mad. This is probably the most common
- They get camped and then immediately tunneled off the hook, honestly who can blame them for leaving?
- The killer is slugging. Not everybody wants to admire floor graphics for four minutes doing nothing
- Legion...need I say more?
- Bad connection
- Every other survivor DC’s with five gens left.
- Sometimes real life circumstances happen
- An accidental DC
I’m not saying all of these are good excuses for DC’ing but not all survivors want to get slugged and lag all over the place with connection from Jupiter.
Also let’s not pretend like there aren’t killers out there who rage quit after 3 gens are done and they’ve found nobody.
There are salty survivor out there for sure, but some have their reasons for DC’ing.
Honestly I can see why people DC for tunneling/camping/slugging. Its really not fun playing the "watch the ground" or "Kranky Babysitter" simulator.
I also had a friend who would DC to punish killers for certain actions. I was on the hook and the killer was camping me staring at my beautiful David eyes. Poof there goes a Claudette running towards me, poof there goes a crouching Nea, and poof a closet somewhere just got lighter.

Hey Iceman!
Thanks for the response, but I may have not properly conveyed my point across. I am not asking for game play help or advice. I am more interested in what keeps you playing the game. From your response tho I see you are like me, where you play the game for fun and enjoyment.
As for toxicity and if it exists or not, that is a discussion I am not yet ready for. I personally do believe toxicity in this game exists. Why be body blocked by another survivor? Why have the killer body block you for the whole game instead of playing. These actions do not require unnecessary messages to be considered toxic.
-
I hate hatch stand offs, it ruins the fun of the game. What I hate about the hatch is when me and another survivor are left and the other survivor just gives up, hides, and waits for me to be found and die.
Yes, I will continue to do gens even if I know the other person is hiding and waiting me out.
But I agree with you. The "get out of jail free" card does not seem to be worth the issues it causes.

My favorite is when I am running for 5-6 steps after a vault and then get downed from a billy. He clearly wanted it more than I did.
