Yes there are "I will always" DCs, there are "I hate this Killer" DCs, there are "the match is unwinnable" DCs, and there are "God why did I log in to play this horrible game" DCs, "I lost and my time is now being wasted if I don't quit" DCs and more. The "I will always" are the group that you are talking about, and is entirely fair to discard those, but all the other DCs are still valid (in comparison). The problem is you are acting like the "I will always" group is any amount greater than 50%, when it is probably 1-5% at most. you are ignoring 50-90% of games (with DCs) with legitimate player enjoyment problems because of one scapegoat, just like BHVR is when they ignore DCs towards killrates.

The "I hate this Killer" DCs are because so many Killers are so poorly designed, and there is no counter (for player enjoyment, not raw mechanical counterplay) other than "I hope I don't RNG into them". That's why so many people call Kobeing 'go-next'. Give me another roll of the dice, because you gave me an autoloss, or a Plague when I'm running a heal tome, or a Ranged Killer and a Pallet stun tome, or whatever reason the game would be unenjoyable on its face. That's the thing though, how often do you run into Plague? Yet somehow her pick rate appears to go up to 50% when you want to run a goofy heal build or get a heal tome done.

Survivor is built to lose, so you have to have fun in the planned loss. If you can't even meaningfully engage with the game such as getting build value, then you sadly are better off "going next" to a game where you can get build value/fun. The design needs to be fixed so this flaw can't occur. Killer bans at 1 per 5 released Killers (round down) would help fix this, and Killers can get map bans so Ghosty doesn't need to go to Autohaven with 0 LOS blockers, and Huntress doesn't need to go to Lerys.

Is it a player problem that the game is so dissatisfying when it using to be fun? That sounds like the players haven't changed, and the game did. That would make it a game problem.

Because you brought up plague, I also think that Behavior should implement a killer blacklist.

I do have a friend who DCs whenever she gets a Plague, because she's very squeamish to vomit. She handles other killers fine, but get her in a match with Plague and she genuinely cannot deal with it. I think implementing a blacklist for killers (limited though) would actually deal with a decent amount of DCs.

Everyone here has said what I want to better than I can. The game is Killer sided, on purpose, because Survs are supposed to be the underdogs.

However, that doesn't mean certain mechanics in the game really are unfun to go against, or that either side doesn't have any sort of annoying things they can do. Those should probably be looked at for the sake of game enjoyment.

I think @hermitkermit is most correct - this game is like a Hollow Knight, Dark Souls, or Elden Ring in one very important way: surviving is supposed to be HARD.

The thing is, at least from my experience, these days surviving isn't hard because a killer is good, but because the killer is using the cheapest, most boring play styles.

Before taking a break, because I was no longer having fun and people should do that when such a thing happened (something the players of this game seem to not understand, but that's off topic) my friends and I were getting slugged. Immediately. Multiple games in a row.

And then left to bleed out.

No hooking. No chasing. No gens. Just left there for multiple minutes. And after reaching out to other friends to ask around, this seems to be the newest trend in killers.

And when stuff like this happens so often it seems to be a known trend and Behavior does diddly all and then salty killers have the gall to call the game survivor sided, it's...laughable. Add to the fact we now have statistics saying otherwise, and...yeah.

Because it is. Just watch any 1v1 tournament and see how they can hold the killer in chase for a minute and a half on average. And no, it's not because they predrop every pallet on the map, you'll be surprised by how long they can loop combining a few structures.

Homie that's on the killer choosing to stay in chase for that long. That's not the game being 'survivor sided', that's a killer being a bad killer.

One of the most important things about killer is knowing when to drop chase.

  • Gotta love how quotes suddenly isn't working, lmao.

  • I have a lot of fun with this game...most of the time. But this, absolutely.

DbD has to have one of the most awful player bases I have ever had the displeasure of interacting with. I play killer and survivor, and while both sides will complain that the game is killer sided or survivor sided, I've definitely noticed that killer mains are the worst between the two.

Heck, killers, in general, seem worse. Rarely will I play killer and run into jerkish survivors, but I'm lucky if I can go a game without it just being slugging and tunneling anymore.

It's partly BHVR's fault for pushing the power role narrative.

You now have a sizeable chunk of killer players who honestly believe they should win 90% of their matches and the remaining 10% should be due to intentionally losing.

These same people hate being outplayed and survivor gameplay is heavily scrutinized, discredited, and reduced to being spacebar and W-key only.

You have people here openly and proudly admitting to playing emotionally and spitefully while being cheered on.

This forum and reddit are killer sided though and largely an echo chamber, cause whiny survivors exist too but are mostly on Twitter or talking to their swf friends.

The solution is to not take these people seriously.

This. All of this. Hit the nail on the head.

  • Why are y'all sweaty as hell. People being able to see vaults and pallets doesn't make them unable to learn to play.

  • @Peanits said:

Mori offerings no longer grant the ability to mori Survivors in the middle of a match, but Perks like Devour Hope or Rancor do still allow you to kill additional Survivors.

    This is a horrid idea.

  • So do DbD players NEED to constantly be complaining about something, or...?

It seems like every time I get notified about this site, it's somebody posting the most over the top, dramatic nothing complaints.

The BP don't actively affect the game. If you're only playing for them and not for the actual enjoyment of the game, and this new mode upsets you THIS much because you aren't getting your full BP...you aren't enjoying the game and need to step back.

Go play something else. Genuinely. I do not understand this communities refusal to just play other things when they aren't having fun with the current events or new killers that everyone is spamming.
