This isn't a good solution, for all sorts of reasons others have already commented upon. There is a much easier solution:

    1. Don't be a bad sport, i.e. be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.
    2. Ignore people who are bad sports and don't get sucked in.
    3. Record your games and report any behavior whatsoever that is over the line, and take the time to turn in the evidence.

The company does act on these things if you follow procedure, which I admit is a pain. Is it worth the tedious process? Yes. Bad sports plague every game online and off. The only way to deal with it is to set a good example, and take the steps required to get such people sanctioned. In effect, if you do these things they will end up being warned and or banned.

A few others here have also mentioned reasons it's self-correcting. If someone is abusing the system, they only box themselves off. As far as being good sports, this Blacklist would encourage that. if someone is mad, they won't say anything and ruin the game for others. For ignoring it and shrugging it off, this isn't a realistic option in the case of seriously toxic people. I stream my games and have had several people come into my chat on Twitch to rage at me. My audience sees I did nothing wrong, it's just these particular toxic people. I have to pause my stream for a moment to ban them. It's irritating and I would rather never be match-made with them again. I'm certain it would improve people's DBD experience all across the spectrum. Let's say one is a new player to DBD, they play killer and play poorly due to inexperience. Rather than getting awful insults hurled at them end-game (which makes them want to quit the game forever), they receive either positive feedback for improving or just simple silence. It creates a more positive, happier experience in the game rather than the cesspool of rage and anger that we have today.

"This guy played Spirit against me... BLACKLIST"

"This guy didn't give me hatch... BLACKLIST"

"This guy is using Self Care in 2020? BLACKLIST"

"This survivor looped me for 5 gens... BLACKLIST"

"This guy did a flashlight save... BLACKLIST!"

    Would be too easily abused

I fail to see how this is a problem. I would not want to play with someone who acts that immature. If they Blacklist everyone that beats them, they are only boxing in themselves. Again, the problem is self correcting.

  • I would absolutely love a dark carnival theme!

  • So I've been playing DBD about a month. I main Killer, but I'm not very good (rank 15). I'm trying to improve and recently bought, among several others, The Plague. In one game, I played against a team of Survivors who absolutely stomped me. I had a lot of fun trying and failing to catch them on loops and hit them with my vomit. By the end of the game, I only managed to kill one. They GG'd at the end of the game, then to my surprise, found and joined my stream. In my Chat, we talked about how much fun we had and they gave me a few pointers on how to improve as The Plague. It was a super wholesome moment that I won't forget. :)

  • DBD definitely has the most salty, poor tempered community of any game I've ever played in over 30 years. Which I really don't get. I have loads of fun with the game, don't give a flying f about ranks, and just find myself pitying those who rage at the end because they lost. People who rage only show the world their own immaturity and insecurity. It's a f'ing game people. You know, the thing we do to have fun?

  • BHVR needs to realize that they are destroying their reputation. People who are only peripherally aware of DBD, and who might be potential players (i.e. customers) are hearing of these awful game-breaking bugs and are steering clear of the game. I was trying so hard to play The Twins the other night on my stream and everyone watching could only wince whenever I hit a game-breaking bug, which was no joke 2 out of every 3 games I played. Bugs destroyed Fallout 76 and damaged Bethesda's reputation forever. The same thing is beginning to happen to BHVR. This is business school 101 on how to destroy your own company. They need to issue a public apology, fix all the problems, and adjust their company internally to ensure that their quality goes way up and this never happens again.

  • A roadmap and better communication would definitely be appreciated. Honestly, they need to slow down releases of DLCs and focus on fixing all the bugs. It's such a great game with a huge community of fans and it deserves better polish than what we're getting.

    1. Maybe, but there should be a heavy cooldown if Victor is manually recalled. Revealing Survivor's auras would be nice, but anything longer than around 3 seconds would be op.
    2. I totally agree here. There needs to be a small buff to Charlotte if the Survivors have chosen to kidnap Victor. A 5% speed buff would be great.
    3. That would make The Twins very, very op. Gonna say no to that one.
    4. Neither Victor nor Charlotte should be able to switch if they are standing in the vicinity of a hooked survivor. However, there must be an on screen message communicating that to players.
    5. Going to mildly disagree here too. Victor's vulnerability after a pounce is one of the few ways he can be countered. In the hands of an expert, The Twins is already nearly unbeatable. This would really send them over the edge.

Great post though! It's interesting seeing everyone's take on what should be done to balance The Twins.

  • I absolutely love The Twins! Their backstory, character design, gameplay, music, everything is top notch. My favorite killer so far. The bugs though, omg, they need fixing badly. Once it's fixed and polished, I think we'll be looking at the best killer in the game.
