Proximity chat. End of.
Any swf group will be talking to each other, so the killer can hear that if they're close enough. You either shut up when killer gets close or you're going to be given away.
Also solos will have the choice to join in those Comms or keep quiet. It also means everyone has more than 3 gestures e.g. I can get a heal off someone without following them for 5 minutes
Excellent idea, but as the poster above says, almost redundant due to third party apps.

If they were JUST playing for fun they could do that in a Custom Game. They are playing AGAINST everyone one else, competing for Rank and earning blood points in a way that stacks advantages to them. Clearly that is about something more than just fun since they can do that anytime.
I don't have four mates who own the game, just my sister who I play with on occasion and sometimes my brother in law. If I did I'd be playing custom game every time. So, how would that work for me?

I'm a survivor main, relatively new to the game (June). I've experienced a few mori's but the overwhelming majority of killers do use them sparingly, and fairly. Tunnelling and camping are far more annoying traits and far more toxic than a Mori user, in my opinion.

Fair play to the OP for being open and honest about it.
I think from the perspective of a survivor main, I would be more arsed with team-mates DC'ing if things weren't going their way than the killer. It drags us all into an unrecoverable situation where we risk potentially losing good items and a good experience. If a killer DC's, they are really only losing their own experience. If team-mates disc / ragequit, it puts the experience of three other people at risk.
I'll always give the benefit of the doubt to someone who has genuine connection issues, and to some extent even newer players, but if I find someone experienced who is moaning because someone didn't equip cake (or whatever) or doesn't like the MMR / map / killer, I'll straight up report for unsportsmanlike conduct every time, because i'm sick of losing items and good game time.

I'm seeing exactly the sort of thing that's been posted above - groups of rank 19 and 20 survivors with rank 1 prestiged killers, and then vice versa. it's not every game, but let's say as a ratio that for every five games I play as a survivor, one comes up with an average rank close to my own. The other four are the types of bullshit seen above.
The quality of the games varies - some are good (in spite of, rather than because of, MM) but the overwhelming majority are unbalanced and poor.

Agree with this 100%.
In a sample of about 30 matches, I think I've joined 2 where the average rank was close to mine.
I'm a relatively new player - i came to the game during the release of the Silent Hill DLC. I'm currently rank 16 survivor (highest I've been was 13 prior to the new season), and rank 20 killer because I've only just delved into this area of the game.
This morning, as a killer, I was teamed against a prestiged rank 1, a normal rank 1, a rank 2 and a rank 3. It was embarrassing.
Since then I've played all day as a survivor, and it's been a bit of a s***show. Rank 1 prestiged killers vs ranks 13, 15, 16 and 7 players, and many more examples of this.
Not every game was awful - but it really does detract from the overall experience and needs fixing ASAP. The matchmaking prior to this was fine, or seemed it.
