In those films, the smartest and most clever person escapes, usually everyone else dies.
have you even watched an of the movies you are talking about? It’s not about the smartest or most clever, way more than not the final girl gets saved by someone else otherwise they would be dead early on, or they get lucky and others get unlucky.
Who said anything about 4k? Hahahaha... it's so easy to trigger people.
you know… writing like this it feels like triggering people is what you wanted to do.. which is pretty much trolling and doesn’t contribute anything at all. Many people weren’t even strictly talking about 4K or anything.
Basically, the post is in reference to the consistent stream of survivor complaints that the game is too hard and they keep dying and that Behavior needs to tweak it where they start every killer bound in chains to a wall until all 5 gens are popped.
i actually don’t see that many complaints by survivor players. And it’s coming just as much from the killer side. Maybe stop generalizing and actually look at all the feedback instead of cherry picking then you realize that plenty of people are giving constructive and valid feedback.
we don’t need further „us vs. them“ threads, this is as much of a problem as those survivor complaints you write about. Don’t let yourself get triggered by the few.
I'm not quite understanding what you mean by "us vs. them"... I play survivor and killer pretty much evenly (as it gets boring playing just one or the other for too long). Also, maybe you haven't read the entire thread, but there are several comments with the same refrain of "4k's shouldn't be happening" which is why I was addressing that. Even from a survivor perspective, I'd rather play thinking that at least one of us out of the four is not going to make it out alive, it makes it much more thrilling. To be honest, I love it when all four make it out when I am playing survivor, but it happened to me 50% of the survivor games I played last night... that's a bit too much, in my opinion.

Who said anything about 4k? Hahahaha... it's so easy to trigger people. It's a horror game with nods to horror films. In those films, the smartest and most clever person escapes, usually everyone else dies. Getting 4k is nice, but that shouldn't be expected either. What should be an anomaly is all 4 survivors escaping... ever. Basically, the post is in reference to the consistent stream of survivor complaints that the game is too hard and they keep dying and that Behavior needs to tweak it where they start every killer bound in chains to a wall until all 5 gens are popped.

Yes, the odds are supposed to be stacked against you.
No. The odds are supposed to be even. Otherwise, this becomes a single-player game using humans as glorified NPCs.
And get the mic up from the floor and put it away properly.
Nope. Cuz then the title would be "Maybe Dead, Maybe Alive By Daylight", not "Dead By Daylight". Mic stays on the floor.

There is nothing to feel proud of when you kill or escape in most cases considering how dbd is. Escaping or killing doesn't always mean I did good.
But that's different topic.
Let's stick to us vs them which you guys excel at. Or not me because I can barely stand forums these days. Guess the reason. Or not, I don't care really.
I play both evenly.
-
@Shaped said:
Most survs can't even escape 40% of the time let alone all the time.
So the title of the game is accurate and well chosen, then. And 40% is pretty good. That means in any given match one to two survivors out of four actually escape. Feel proud when you do.
-
Look down at an angle, then follow their flashlight and smash the punks. Get into the habit. As soon as a flashy troll shines their crutch, look down (no need to look directly down) then give em a kiss with your weapon. They usually stand there like goofballs trying to figure out why they aren't blinding you and leave themselves open for attack.
Lightborn becomes redundant once you master this.

I can loop pretty well and when I do it for like 2 gens or more I get facecamped. Why not switch to a different target instead of hating on me.
A killer who face camps is either bad at the game and wants to make sure the survivor who keeps beating him at a chase dies, isn't efficient and isn't playing to win, is a troll, or you were toxic and taunted him (being obnoxious with a flashlight or teabagging after dropping a pallet) and his win condition became killing you and no one else.
Facecamping is a recipe for failure. You can't win as a killer facecamping. I know this because I've facecamped before and it was for at least one of those reasons when I did (I haven't facecamped for over a month now).

I am fine with both of them (even having them at the same time).
For OP's suggestion I would stress his 2nd last paragraph - buff killers spreading pressure, but compensate-nerf them in reasonable way.
Killers "have to tunnel" after 6.1, because it's most rewarding tactics, because of DS nerf. Their killrate skyrocketed for a short time, so now they indeed have to do that or they loose. But the thing is, that if we fix this issue, killers will loose some for a limited time and then everything evens out. Suddenly 1K hour killer will no longer play against 16K hrs survivor lobby (and get 3+ kills).
Can you define "tunneling" in the context of your comment? Because to me, tunneling is chasing after only one survivor the whole game. If you define it as continuing a chase with one survivor for a lengthy period of time to get them on a hook... but then moving on once they're on the hook, I don't consider that tunneling. I will do this sometimes if I encounter a survivor that is really good at a chase. They wind me through the map dropping pallets which I smash early game so there are no pallets left mid to late game for anyone else. I'll let them do this for a few minutes and if I don't hook em before two gens pop, then I'll call off the chase at the point. Sometimes the strategy works based on the killer and perks I'm using, sometimes it doesn't. But, as a survivor who is slowly getting better at chases myself, I actually enjoy it for a couple of reasons. I'm frustrating the killer and my team is popping gens. Win-win. It's also one of the last exciting things to do as a survivor after the HUD update.
-
I'm playing more survivor than killer these days, probably at a 45/55 split. I prefer playing killer because I play solo and, admittedly, I enjoy it more because I find it way more challenging than survivor, especially after the HUD update. It way more tense to me because now gen rushing is a constant, not just something that happened with SWF, so trying to kill as many survivors means you're trying to be as efficient as possible with your play style... you have to be. Before the HUD update, it was more stressful being a survivor... now I play survivor to relax.
I want to make it clear up front that I was a killer main the first couple of weeks I played this game, but now it's much more balanced lest anyone think I'm speaking from a pure killer perspective. It is easy to beat tunneling and camping killers... bottom line. I have no idea why people complain about it so much. As a survivor, when I see a tunneling or camping killer, I automatically know at least 3 of us are going to escape the trial, and if you have a good set of solo survivors, all 4. Only if you suck can you not counter this. I used to tunnel and camp when I was a noob killer because I was desperate to get at least ONE sacrifice... but once you've played killer for a while you realize that it's simply NOT a winning strategy so long as your win condition is more than one sacrifice.
Basically, if you complain about tunneling and camping killers, it's probably because you suck at the game.

How I want to kill most of the killers that tunnel and camp and this idea is absolutely amazing
Whether they camp or tunnel is irrelevant, I think it'd be cool for the sole survivor to get the chance to faux kill the killer and escape like most horror movies.

Nice story bro. Its been the exact opposite of my experiences. You just must be THAT good.
😕
I'm having trouble with the 'rank 1' claim. And I think that the 20 escape streak is an exaggeration, but speaking for myself, since the HUD changes came in, I fear nothing and have escaped at least 4 out of 5 times... mostly with all other survivors too. So, there's no denying that the HUD really took the challenge out of the game from the survivor perspective.
-
I'll say this. I'm still doing pretty decent with my killers, though the there is no doubt at all that the HUD additions have made solo survivor cake as I've escaped almost every single time since they were implemented, usually will all 3 other teammates as well.
On the killer side, it's basically meant that some killers are utterly pointless to play with... Legion being one of them... you're just gonna get genrushed to hell with that guy. I had to stop using him. I used to love the Trapper because he's brutal as hell, but holy crap it's a challenge just to kill 2 survivors now. The killers I'm consistently getting 4 kills with I'm not gonna share because I don't want the screaming for a nerf to begin. Hint: it's not the Nurse, Mastermind, etc.
But, yeah, the HUD changed the game and has made most killers obsolete if your goal is to hook more than 2 survivors per trial. Thank goodness the killer I still rock with is a killer that was always one of my favourites... RIP Trapper.

3 matches in a row now to where the killer gets his hands on me and then refuses to leave the area of the hook. i can watch paint dry i can stare at the clock i can do literally anything and get the same result as i do playing the game in its current state, and unfortunately that leads me to come to the conclusion that until this is fixed i might as well just not play for the time being.
That's camping, dude. Not tunnelling. Yeah, it's annoying as hell when you get one of those... but blame your teammates for not unhooking you. Good teammates know how to unhook someone in that situation. Bad ones let them die. There's a way around every toxic gameplay style in this game.
I was left on a hook until the second state last night. I saved a fellow survivor from a camping killer, took a blow for them, then escaped the chase. They only had one hook. Later we were teaming up on a gen, the killer showed up and this person didn't lead the killer away from me, they led the killer to me. Got slugged, then that person took off running instead of trying to sabotage the nearby hooks for me. Yay. Bad teammates are worse than bad killers.

All survivors collect parts to craft a huge frying pan and then bash the killers head in with them by all pressing a button at the exact same time lol.
Or they erect a gigantic effigy of a survivor that teabags the killer to death.

Because this will reverse the game in a second, surviros will stop to do gen and start to hunt down the killer instead.
Exactly what happened in F13th the game, where once the way to kill Jason was discovered, it began the only way to play that stupid game and survivors were just doing that over and over
No way would I suggest this would be available to all 4. I'm proposing it for the last survivor alive as a more challenging/difficult option than just jumping through the hatch. The other 3 would be dead so it's not a team effort.

I think so as well that gens should not be the only objective for survivors. And just like was mentioned elsewhere missing parts for specific gens would be great as well. There is a lot of things what should be done, but BHVR instead of this are giving survivors another and another infos. What will be next? Alert and Kindred basekit, because thats what SWF has as well?
I think it would be really cool if they had "cutthroat" objectives other than opening the hatch with the key. Like objectives where a survivor not just passively plays for their own wellbeing, but actively, in a way where they can actually win by screwing over their teammates. That would make it really interesting. But make it to where the objective has multiple steps that can only be completed once, so in the end only one survivor can utilize it.
Or have other cool objectives besides just cutthroat ones, just thinking of "new threat" dynamics brought on by survivors themselves.

You said it yourself buddy, tunnelling is easy mode for killers, it should be harder than that to win.
On the contrary, tunneling is a guaranteed way to lose "against survivors who have any skill". If you run into a killer who tunnels, not because they are just repaying toxicity with toxicity, but as an actual strategy, then they are usually low skill killers... which means that you get your best runner and loop him and distract him the whole match while everyone else pops gens. It's even EASIER now to do this with the HUD.

we will see. If the trend with survivor-incentives most of the time continues, then I guess you are up for a surprise
It boggles my mind how much I see people complain (both survivor and killer mains) in this forum because they're finding the game too hard. The challenge is what makes it fun and rewarding. Please stop trying to water everything down and just get better at the game. Accept your losses and celebrate your victories. If you lose, you lost to someone better than you. Leave it alone.

Killer-Queues are always fast at nighttime, because most players play at the evening and then they play together with their friends.
After work, after homework, after Fitness and other stuff. The majority always plays in the evening/late evening, which is kinda obvious, right?
I'm in Europe. So my evenings are afternoons in America.

The game should be balanced. It's PvP. Not PvE. 50% kill rate. Not less, not more
Well, I'm glad that Behavior isn't going to pay attention to you because they know as well as I do, making the changes you suggest would make the game boring for both survivors who want a proper challenge (which has already been somewhat diminished with the HUD) and for killers who won't ever be able to win a match because survivors will have the HUD and overpowered gear. They would literally kill their own game. Even for SWF, part of their fun is to totally dominate and outsmart killers... but if they're equipped with gear that doesn't require outsmarting them, what would be the point?
I guess, in the end, you've made the points for me and Behavior. Thank goodness they aren't going to listen to you. Comes down to this, get better. If you can't, maybe play something else?

61% kill rate. This statement is outdated. Killer IS easier. But not super easy or autowin.
Obviously, the greater challenge should be on the side of the survivors... it's a horror game. Killers are supposed to be dangerous, escape should be difficult. What do you expect?! The title of the game is 'DEAD by Daylight', not 'ALIVE by Daylight'. Death is the constant threat?! There are 4 survivors vs. 1 killer. A 61% kill rate means that, for the most part 1 to 2 survivors escape each match on average. At least 2 die. What do you expect, seriously, that everyone should escape the killer on every game or that the kill rate should be even less? The game would totally suck if there was no real threat. I don't understand why anyone complains about imbalance. And I've been playing way more solo survivor in the last 3 weeks than killer. I "like" the odds stacked against me. That's the whole friggin' point!!! If I escape, it's a reward. There's be no reward if they watered it down for people like the OP.
-
Played 4 solo survivor games last night and 1 killer game.
I waited to find a game for at least 5 minutes for each of the solo survivor games. I waited 5 seconds to find one for the killer game. Does that mean more people were queuing for survivor than killer in that 2.5 hour period? I'm not sure.
-
Still deliberating. I played 4 solo survivors matches last night and only escaped once. The other three teams we faced Ghostface twice and Oni once. Props to the killers, but my team (including myself) was disorganized and all over the place so we lost horrifically. Playing solo survivor, I hate to admit it, it makes my life a bit easier... but I miss the days of not knowing what's going on... it was just way more fun and suspenseful. Now it's not about killers or survivors, I feel like I'm playing Mario Bros, timing jumps... not fearing any of the bosses, it's all about reading the interface and timing button clicks... the horror magic is gone.
Played my favourite killer, The Trapper, once last night. Usually, I kill at least 2 survivors with him. Most of the time 3. And some of the time all 4. I like him because I think he's the most brutal... him and Hillbilly. But, the one game I played with him last night, surprise, surprise, all 4 escaped. I'll play throughout the week and if I'm not killing 3-4 survivors 75% (as I normally do) of my matches, then I'm just going to assume it's the survivor HUD.
-
No. When I play killer, the only time I tunnel is when I encounter a teabagging tryhard who thinks they are a clever "runner/looper" for their team. Teabag me after a failed pallet stun or a clean vault? Tunnel until death. Taunt me with the flashlight? Tunnel until death. I no longer care about the other 3 survivors until that first lucky winner of stupid prizes for playing stupid games is dead. No, don't take away my toxic revenge for toxic behaviour. You're basically asking for Behavior to ban the ability to be toxic on one side... nope... sorry kiddo.
Also, if you're getting tunnelled 9 out of 10 games, you really need to start evaluating your game play. If you were good at the game, you'd know that being tunnelled isn't necessarily a bad thing as you could keep the killer busy while your team pops gens and you all escape happy. So, it sounds like you aren't good at running. Also, if it's occurring 9 out of 10 times, this also means that you're terrible at stealth as you seem to be getting caught... a lot. Basically, people who post stuff like this need to look in the mirror and come to grips with the fact that they need to get better at the game instead of looking for participation awards.
-
You're obviously new at the game. Keep playing it and you'll get better and realize that a team of good survivors is way more overpowered than a good killer. But it sounds like you haven't figured out the optimal times to use a medkit or how to use perks. BTW, if you prestige every survivor before focusing on one, all shareable perks become available for every survivor. It's a grind and it takes time, but it's worth it when you have a slate of special perks to choose from and mix and match. Bottom line, get better... and play a bit of killer so that you can realize the game isn't as imbalanced towards them as you think it is. Sounds like you'd get stomped as a killer.
-
Depends on who plays them, I suppose. When I play killer, Legion is my worst, I rarely if ever kill all 4 survivors with him. The only reason I use him is because the Frenzy perk is so fun to use and I know it frustrates the hell out of survivors if you string attacks together on all 4 survivors. Hahaha. But in the end, most, if not all escape... it's just usually a really long game.
If you played against me, you'd probably think Legion is the best killer to play against.
-
I'm deaf in one ear as well and it's hard to pick up on audio cues as a killer. I manage, but I totally get your point.
-
There is literally a perk for campers called Insidious. It's a feature not a bug. Good survivors know how to counter campers.
There's nothing canonically that says tunnelling should not be done. Ever watched a horror film? They usually tunnel their victims until they catch them and kill them.
Not gonna lie, as a noob killer I'd use Insidious and camp a hook. But as I got better, I figured out that if I want to kill all 4 survivors, camping will only achieve that goal 5% of the time. It's inefficient as hell. With the new survivor HUD, it's even dumber to camp a hook.
I will only tunnel when I get teabagged after a failed pallet stun or when a try hard flashes their flashlight as a taunt or uses the emotes to taunt... at which point my only win condition becomes making sure they have a bad match. So, no, they shouldn't have an anti-tunnel system. It's the best way to reward toxicity with toxicity. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
-
Also wanted to add. For some reason, as a survivor on console, even hitting all of the great skill checks for wiggle doesn't seem to have an effect on the killer marching me to a hook. But when playing a killer on maps where there are lots of obstacles and doorways, holy crap, I get pulled all over the place! I dropped survivors at least 4 times last nigh because I'd get hit with what can only be described as a gale force wind that knocked me several feet off course and got stuck sometimes! Just wondering why there is such a stark difference and if this is a perk or something that I don't know about... and how do I get it as a survivor.
-
Update: played both killer (one I'm not yet proficient with) and solo survivor last night pretty much 50/50. My takes:
Survivor: I can't say I don't like the new HUD as a solo survivor. Obviously it makes the game way easier and did what I expected it to do, pretty much exactly. I ended up, escaping 3 times and getting hooked to death twice, by two face camping killers...which I'm fine with, good survivors know how to beat face campers so I have no idea what the complaints are about. I rarely run into them and, to be honest, if that's the strategy they want to employ so be it. I don't think the HUD makes *that* much difference in the way the solo survivors play... yet. Not gonna lie, it's handy, but still feels a bit like a cheat and really takes the fright and suspense out of the game.
Killer: Still learning on Legion, so decided to use him. I did pretty good. 1 game I killed all 4, 2 matches I killed 3 and the sole survivor escaped through the hatch before I could find it, and 2 I got smoked but am confident they were meta SWF because they were all the same character and same outfits, bunny ears included. This is the norm for me, really. So, though the overall outcome didn't change, what did was more gems popped than usual in the matches I dominated on and it was a bit more challenging than it was before the update in the sense that the survivors did behave like they were more coordinated.
I'll need a bit more time to see how the gameplay develops, but as of now I don't yet see a massive problem with it (obviously helps become an omniscient god as a solo survivor and I get the feels that to get sacrificed you either have to suck at the game or have teammates who don't know what to do with a camper).
Disclaimer: I'm on console so still not great at looping so if I'm getting tunnelled I'll lose a chase after 30 seconds most times... so the HUD really gives me an edge and makes me better than I actually am.

Unfortunately, giving people information rarely results in them actually using it.
Will this change help good Solo's? Yes. Will it do anything about the bad teammates? No.
No doubt. But my gripe from a solo survivor perspective is it takes the suspense of best guessing what to do next out of it. So, it sort of makes the game less fun for me on that end. From a killer perspective, it means I've just become a chess piece on a completely transparent board game where everyone can see everyone's moves, so there is no element of surprise or fear left to it. This means that the horror aspect to the game is only the cover on the box, the atmosphere is diminished to nothing more than a set piece. Basically, it not only favours the technical mechanics of the game, it does so rigidly. It's a meta game now. Sucks because my 14 year old son bought this game for me for Christmas, and I've enjoyed it as it wasn't too smothered by technical mechanics... until now.
I mean, to be honest, it's a dates game graphics wise and the gameplay is wonky and very basic, so it doesn't take a genius to play in the first place. Making it even easier and taking away the only element that made it interesting wasn't a good move. I definitely didn't like this game because of the blocky, stiff graphics (rife with collision problems and glitches) or the super basic control scheme and mechanics, it was because it was fun to pretend you were either a killer or survivor playing against other people in a spooky environment where "not knowing" was what gave it the suspense it needed. Without the suspense, it's just a wonky, ugly, dated game.
Anyway, I'll see how it plays out this week. But even my son agrees with my assessment and may not play it anymore, which would really suck.
-
That would be cool. But my experience with DBD and DC's by malcontents tells me that lobbies of connected players will never get a killer... and I personally wouldn't want to take that away from them. The mic'ed up survivors literally get their enjoyment out of destroying the killer, this would ruin their fun (I say this as a solo queue survivor AND as a killer... with preference as a killer). Even though I get trashed by mic'ed up bully gangs on occasion as a killer, it's still a random experience. When it happens I think, ah ######### here we go again... teabaggers, but, I just take my medicine and hope to at least kill one of them because that becomes my victory condition. You know that they're bagging them on their chat for sucking when you take one of em out.
I have to admit, if I knew in the lobby that the survivors were in a group, I'd probably leave the lobby as a killer. It's just like playing survivor and I see the wiggly claw that tells me the obsession is in a chase and I can continue doing what I'm doing without fear... I thought it was a cheat when I first figured out what it meant... but I couldn't help but to use it.
Brings me to the Survivor HUD, which I personally think is going to totally break the game for both survivor and killer.
-
It's a pain in the ass. But usually I just end up slugging the ones that fling me around and going after the others... unless there's a hook right in front of me. Kinda tell myself this one is going to escape anyway, but I'll at least take them out of a large portion of the game as punishment.
Had one like that last night. Slug em, leave em, get to work, cuz if you try to hook em without a hook nearby you're wasting crucial seconds that their teammates are going to be gobbling up. With the new survivor HUD, they are all 100% aware, so don't waste your time trying to kill the most frustrating survivors. Do what killers do in horror films, go for the weakest links first. If the strong survive, who cares as long as you murder one of their friends.
