  • I think tunneling and camping is the easiest skill to have and shows exactly how much the killer actually enjoys the game beyond "I'll stand here."

  • I've found in the Level 14-10 or so that Killers camp all day at hooks and Survivors DQ'ing tons too. I was as low as 6 recently and once you start playing with better players and killers the game isn't as frustrating. AT 13 I saw two survivors enter lockers when I was downed and stay there til' I died. I was yelling "at least work on generators #########." I can admit when Killers spend all their time standing 10 feet from a hook, where I tried to save someone - get caught. They wait til the other person dies then puts me on a hook nearby to repeat. I'll DQ just so no one bothers to come get me.

This game is soo fun, but the community is so full of complains and toxicity in general.

Whenever i play killer, some random survivor show up with some "Stop/camping/slugging, etc u "#%!&$"

Whenever u play survivor the killer comes up with some "Nice gen rush u !#%!$&"

Honestly, what's wrong with people in this game, does really nobody realizes that in this game u get punish by wrong decisions made in the moment? You unhook a survivor at the wrong moment, repair at the wrong moment, take a wrong turn, take too long chasing, etc, you get punished by being hook, losing a gen, losing a match, etc. That's how it works, nobody is obliged to play according to your standards and you as a player are not entitled to impose a playstyle. I swear that most of the post in this forum are about players complaining about how other players play.

As far as my experience go, experience that is not that big, since i'm kinda new, in red rank, on where i'm currently sitting. If u tunnel or camp as a killer u lose. If a camping or tunneling killer does win, it's the complete fault of point thirsty survivor. So if someone is falling for a crappy strategy like that, it's that persons fault, not the killer.

Same with killer, if u get gen rushed with brand new parts and purple tool boxes, it's the killers fault for not knowing how to control, put pressure on the map and taking care of generators. It's not the faults of Survivors.

Survivor needs to repair and scape, killers needs to kill. Nobody is playing the game to make it easy for the counterpart.

So stop falling for stupid strategies (it may hurt u but yes camping it's a strategy, a crappy one, but a strategy nonetheless ) and learn how to counter, if you don't have no one to play with, go to the discord of DBD and play with people.

If I see survivor(s) on the way to the hook, do I

    A. Pretend not to see them and "search" for other survivors

    B. Go to the furthest regions of space

    C. Go AFK

    D. Take advantage of the situation

Guess what. That isn’t anything close to what I’m describing. If survivors can be seen and you go chase them - great. If survivors can be seen and you plant yourself in front of the hook to watch one die - THAT is entirely different? You see that right? You see the point of pretending that takes any skill is false.

If I see a player while I’m on the hook being stupid than of COURSE I could care less if the killer gets them. That’s the POINT.

If this entire thread has proved ONE thing is that telling a Killer not to give the survivor no other choice but to stop playing that round since INEVITABLY it’s just watching the clock waiting to did - DON’T cry about players DQing.

thats it that’s all. Take it or leave it. Eat or roast it. Serve it on toast.

PLAY however you want to play.

BUT don’t get surprised when survivors aren’t twiddling there thumbs when they could be going to the next round.

I don't camp personally. I'm a nurse main, so I get hate messages for... other things. But real talk though, if the killer has someone hooked in endgame, they should be camping to secure at least one kill. It's the smart thing to do, and you can't really get mad at it, because wen it's endgame, anything goes.

I feel the same way. There are scenarios where of COURSE you stay by the hooked player. At the end of the game it makes perfect sense to put let the players decide how they want to proceed. Escape easily or help out a teammate. What the majority of us are indicating is getting hooked in the first 3 minutes of a game and watching the killer do nothing else. I've even accounted killers who don't even try to get a rescuing survivor and instead just sit there and watch the hooked survivor die.

SAYING "well, the other survivors should instead go do gens DOES not erase the fact that MY game is now pointless. So NO. I'm not sticking around like a drown worm on the hook. So if the kill is so important - and the LESS points for the kill is so important - HERE have the points I"m out. Simple as that. YOU get your points. Now you can move on and do whatever the F you want and I can TOO. Win - Win .UNLESS you ge upset about players DQ'ing. For those Killers - ohhhh tooo bad. I'm not sorry about it - and as evidence in this thread NEITHER are you for the reason its happening in the first place. You don't get to complain -

    Dear @BBWH

May I please play survivor with you? You worded the problem so well, I couldn't have said it better.

I've no idea how to make that happen - but I'm down.

  • Every scenario is different. Perhaps if i was playing with better survivor's my feelings would be different. At this point - i still play to do my best and hope my whole team doesn't die. I'm just that sort of team player. If players are being stupid then of course that's not what I'm talking about. Watching time go by 80% of the time when a killer tunnels, forget it - I'M out. That's how I play. And i bet that's why you also see so many others drop out too. Play how you want. My opinion stands that a 10 year old can tunnel and get a kill and be so happy with themselves as if they've accomplished something.

No one is telling you to change your game. The comment is a judgement and an opinion. Like politics I don't expect to change your mind. J.ust point out an explanation for the common complaint of players DQ'ing. If you don't feel DQing is an issue for your games - Go on with your life and leave this thread.

I've nothing more to point out or say. And quite frankly - "I'll Play Anyway I Want" while saying "Go Find A New Game" is the height of feeling your argument won something - much like a game - that a 10 year old would play.

  • I have. And like any other 10 year old I could camp and get a kill. its SO cool to masturbate and wait and do NOTHING. Not just for the survivor on the hook but for the killer who thinks it takes "skills" to do so. I also only play solo. I don't play in teams where it will ALWAYS favor because they can communicate. In solo game we are relying on others to play a game that will benefit their game as well as their teams HOPEFULLY. But of course without communication there is no way to know.

I'm mainly in the lower teens for game play. The rampant camping is obnoxious. If you play higher skilled players - which I bet MOST of those who take the time to post in here do - i can see your arguments being valid. Especially for going against teams. AND I've seen MANY very skilled killers play and make all four kills without camping. When a 10 year old uses the same "strategy" that should tell you all you need to know about what kind of skills that person utilizes.

To go with that - a couple weeks ago I had a game as Doctor on Gas Heaven. I found a Nancy in a locker in shack, hooked her in basement. I found a Dwight in a locker right beside shack (thanks to a Doctor illusion) and hooked him right next to shack. I saw the other Dwight urban evading toward shack to save the Nancy, and the Feng was right by the jungle gym where I just hooked Dwight. That's zero people on gens, and 2 people on hooks, all with 1 gen left, and no slow downs. That's a TON of pressure. So I hung around. They made it worse by all crowding around where the Dwight was hooked. I turned 4 people being alive at 1 gen left into a 4k at 1 gen left.

So yes, it IS a strat. OP, don't make stupid plays, don't get punished for stupid plays.

That is an entirely different scenario - in that case the PLAYERS are not utilizing THEIR skills or THEIR strategy. No one faults you for using the perks you have - to identify players who are surrounding the hooked survivor. All three did the same exact thing. THEIR gameplay was poor. IF THEY had played a better game I'm supposing you would have played differently and the outcome would be different YET - both you and the survivors continue to get to play and have the chance of winning.

That is smart game play against poor choices and game play by the survivor. You weren't lying in wait to watch the hooked survivor die. Doint that takes NO skill. And thats the point. What is appreciated by all is GOOD gameplay - not relying on the EASIST way to get a kill, just because you have no skills to anything else.

If people can't see that giving a player absolutely no chance of surviving EVER no matter what... and STILL stroking their egos at what a skillful player they are and the BEST at the game... just don't be surprised when players say FU we out,

    THATS ALL.

And it still amazes me that players think they have this game down when all they can do is play how a 10 year old would play. Good luck. I"m out of this convo because i'm done explaining what is VERY obvious even if you feel your the BEST killer around Re-evaluate what "the best" is, because a respected and effective AND fun Killer doesn't rely on such a basic gameplay.

Ok I’m going to say it. It sucks to wait 15 minutes for a match to start, to die immediately because a killer is freakin lazy! I strongly believe a survivor should not be hooked the 2nd time within say 1.5 minutes. There should be a timer like Freddy. It’s no fun to die immediately and it’s not fair. Matchmaking really sucks and survivors can’t get good if they can’t play!

I always wondered if it was fun for a killer when they kill everyone in like 5 minutes. Why do they even play this game? If I was that good and it wasn’t challenging at all, I definitely would be bored to death and move on to another game.

Its straight bull__ when lazy killers camp!

So camping is an underhanded way of getting kills? What about genrushing being an underhanded way to escape? Sometimes the smartest thing to do is camp, so dont get mad if the killer is playing optimally. You sound like another entitled survivor main who thinks that he should get everything handed to him;)

no one is mad YOUR ego is bruised because the "strategy" is one that someone who JUST got this game would rely on. No one is sounding entilted in the least. YOU feel that way because when the truth that its MOST basic way to get a kill goes against your belief that you are "winning" the game that way. SURE. HAVE the kill. Its worth less points. JUST sit there and watch someone die. BUT - then you can't whine when people DQ.

I agree if you dont want the killer around, give them a reason to leave. also if camping killer and you are on the hook, wait it all out. waste the killer's time while the others get the gens done! it sucks for points and pipping but that's ONE match... the next time it might be someone else and you do the gens etc.

I agree. I don't want the killer so close so that I watch the other players get duped and killed too. PO INTLESS. I'd rather jump off the hook til I'm dead and DQ that way. Or if I'm rescued and we both go down - I just duck out of the game. WHICH I BET is why a lot of people check out. I'm not talking about the players who drop out on first hook and don't give survivors a chance to try and save you.

I'm talking about the survivors who APPRECIATE and find a challenge with actually SKILLED Killers who don't use it. A 10 year old novice could do it. Play like a 10 year old then. I've better things to do with my time.

  • @DBD78 said:

It's a good strategy since it works for most people. This thread is like saying gen rushing is not a strategy because it's not fun. You simply don't understand the word.

The strategy isn't good if a 10 year old can do it and get the same number of kills. Its merely behaving how every novice plays and hiding behind "but it works" and "I do it so its strategy."

  • @eff said:

In conclusion, killers should hook someone and then go to the opposite side of the map and facecamp a wall.

Yes. That's EXACTLY it. said no one in this post at all. If a survivor is stupid and running up to unhook while you are still in the terror radious all bets are off. If you purposely lie there waiting to catch and kill... go put a worm on another hook I could care less how you feel about your strategy, FAR and clear I rarely play killer. BUT when i do i also use the SIMPLEST way to get a kill. Think about that.. How long have you been playing and I can master that strategy whenever I decide to play. That isn't skill. It makes the game pointless for the players. If you get off on that then Camp however and whenever the ######### you want. If i'm playing team I tell them all to finish the gens and Ill sacrifice myself. if i'm playing solo - F YOU - STOP complaining about people DQ themselves when the point of survivor game isn't to be bait and watch the other survivors fall as a result. Play however the F you want. But don't get so pissed at survivors that want to play the game not sit there and wait for time to run out like 10 year old who just started playing. Its as simple as that.

THE BEST part about this is I play with TONS of killers who don't rely on the simplest way to kill all FOUR of the survivors. OVER and OVER they are so good the can get it done, without portraying If you FEELit is the best option for you to,,, to what? Stroke your ego? Ohhhhh if thats what you need than have at it. To get points.... Ohhhhh go get your points - that must be SO important to you so you can.... what? Get more Perks you don't care about using because you still just sit in a corner and masturbate while time runs out.

I find it hilarious the people who think this is the best game play must have NO idea that actually skilled killers don't sit in a corner as if they know how to win at this game. And i also find it hilarious you think you are so good at the game that pointing it out to you are just making people cry.

Everyone wants to have fun. Even if they die - they want to have fun.

  • And like EVERY game you play - If its pointless - like you know your only bait left to hang and die - you start a board game without less money - - you start to play pool but they start with only three balls on the table - you play cards but you will never be dealt any Jack Queens or Kings - Screw That. go jerk off to your big win that was inevitable before the game even begun.

You should have been more specific then. That's facecamping and not "terror camping".

My idea of camping is making it impossible once the person is hung to have any chance from doing their best escape and utilizing the skills they've learned to evade or with assistance from another survivor. No matter what it called - making the game pointless is bad gameplay. Also, PLENTY of killers don't camp and win games all the time without taking all of the fun out of it. Chase and pursuit is 1/2 the game skills that separate the players from challenge you some times win or lose. Any game tgat feels inevitable it will be over for you no matter what happens - go play how you want - i have no desire to indulge you. If the win is so desperate - here have the points. I could really care less.

  • I guess what I call camping is a different idea than what you are referencing here. You strategically TAKE a body to a space where there are multipole generators and options for players to take to try and rescue. At that point you may circle around a few times, expand your search a little and then who knows what may occur. This I can understand to lure people in and give chase to the survivor that's trying to unhook. It opens up the possibilities. It's also leaving the opportunity for 3rd player to swoop in and rescue -AND it can possibly lead to the killer to hook a second survivor nearby or not much farther away. In that case you are giving players options to also be strategic and work together, and if they aren't on a team, doing so in a cooperative way without conversation that TRIES to lead to different outcomes. This sounds like how people mainly play the game.

I am specifically pointing out the Killer who hooks you. Waits nearby or literally standing in front of you, preventing any rescue. Literally standing in front of the hook full view - no questions that anyone would ever get a chance and just watching someone die. I also feel if you are doing the same thing waiting mere feet away with an invisible perk I can see you. I can see where you "hid" I have better things to do then be bait. Why part of the lure? Why help you lure the other players in? Might as well save them from danger and save yourself pointlessly waiting to die That's being altruistic. Saving the players from getting killed to while they can just go keep working on generators. i get to go play a new game.

That is the difference. If no matter what, when you're on the hook then after immediately when you've been unhooked you are back on it before even taking two steps, then what's the point of me sticking around? If i don't even get a shot at trying to evade, why play? My skills aren't getting tested, your skills are at best, are amateurish and I have other matches with other players to go play instead.

BUT once again - You can play however you want. But if you camp in the way I'm describing specifically - Your complaints about survivors DCing is moot. Try actually playing the game WITH the survivors. A killer and a survivor just standing looking at each other waiting for the survivor to die - there is no longer any point to the game.

If everytime you hook someone you go straight to the other side of the map then you'll probably lose the game unless the survivors are potatoes that can't last 10 seconds in a chase or the survivors don't like generators. Against strong teams you have to use slugs and hooks as baits.

One of the most strategic things that experienced killers do is hooking someone near 3~4 gens and "Terror camping" as you like to say. Literally any player does that and it's one of the things you see the most at tournaments, but yeah these players have no skill right?

  • Why does it have to be EITHER OR? Even going to the next Gen on either side is close enough to head back if they get released. But at least the game FEELS like you have a shot to try and escape without the killers hacking you down before your even move from the hook.

i am not implying you must let players win by going all the way across the map... but injuring more players and actually letting them play - and trying to get healed or hunting them down in a great chase.

What game is worth playing if you KNOW you are just going to die in less than 5 minutes? Would you feel like sticking around for any game that STARTS the moment it starts as a losing game, why play?

If a KILLER knew they would lose as soon as they hooked one person - what’s the fun? Would your skills improve? Would your points? Are are you just deciding, “wow, sitting here watching someone die is so fun. I’ll just stand here and watch. This is so fun not moving. Whoopee this is thrilling.”

But like I said.... skilled players do not rely on the most simple way to get a kill. If you want to play that simply, then I’ll simply let you and say Bye!

  • @Crowman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1755149#Comment_1755149

Sometimes defending hooks is the better tactic than defending gens if survivors are super altruistic about it. If you want to give the killer a good reason to not stand near hooks, do gens.

If you are going to d/c whenever a killer "camps" you should probably just find a different game to play instead.

What is being altruistic? Staying on a hook. Watching players come closer to try and save and then they get killed and hooked too? What is altruistic staying on a hook so other players get to continue to make points while you sit there waiting to die? Let me put it this way - camping on hooks is the absolute easiest way to guarantee kills. Either as bate or players letting them die. It’s just so simple to do. If that’s how you want to play I could care less. But I’m not gonna sit around and wait when I can easily go join a new game.

And I’m sure I’m not alone. If you get upset because players D/C so easily - they likely are doing it because what’s the point? You want the point? Here, have them, If that gets you off. BUT if you also complain about players who D/C then F you. Learn to play without making the game absolutely pointless if I stay in the game - meaning I don’t get to play at all if I stay or from staying and gaining no points from leaving.

But you do you Boo. Like I said - if you get off playing that way Go For It. But do not expect people to just hang on a hook when they know it’s pointless and can easily go to a new game by jumping off the hook three times in a row and die anyway.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

"Terror camping" is the most funny thing I've read on this forum LOL. You guys won't be happy until the killer goes AFK for 60 seconds after hooking someone.

I don’t think a killer who stays within 95% striking distance has skills. That’s all. It’s a waste of everybody’s time. Why indulge a killer with me as bate when I can say f you drop out and find a new game. If they need the points they aren’t getting as many by playing that way and if it’s because their egos are so fragile they need the win so badly then by all means -here. You killer me. Happy dear?

And I didn’t say it was cheating. Sure it’s an available option but not one I feel is good sportsmanship and I’d rather play with experienced killers who need their ego strokes to get a win in a video game.

So, to keep it short; the killer isn't straight face camping but they're terror radius camping. Its like they won't face camp you, but they won't let you out of their terror radius.

For the record, this isn't a strat; it's a crutch, muchlike NOED. This usually leads to tunneling, Slugging, and or straight face camping when the killer fails. I don't know why people call it a strat to win if you have to resort to camping yo get a kill; it's lowkey pathetic if you have to resort to that. It's not every day that I see people tunneling, face camping, or just going so low just to get a kill but its the ones who do that get really get me.

Usually, I see that in lower ranks and that's very often. I haven't been running into NOED often but I HAVE been running into campers and tunnelers. For the record, it doesn't make you any less of a bad killer if you have to resort to camping and tunneling to get your precious 4k; and no, again, it's not a strategy to win, it's a crutch.

A strategy is a plan something THAT you think up and roll out. To getting a better definition; this is what the dictionary says.

Strategy - Noun - a plan of action or policy designed to achieve a major or overall aim.

Camping does NOT fall under this pretext because you didn't plan it out, you just said "Okay, so I suck or I want my 4k so I'll resort to just making the game unfun for everyone and get what I want." That's right, I'm calling ya out on it. So, don't try to call it a strat.

Back to my main focus, Terror Camping. Yeah, so this lowkey ain't really fun for many because if you don't have deliverance; you're screwed. It basically says "That's right, I'm camping and i'll slug you if you Come any closer." This apparently works out with killers like myers, ghost face and stealth killers in general. This leads to the survivor being put in the second phase, The team rushing the killer, the survivor gets tunneled and it's an easy kill for the killer; again, not a strat, it's a crutch. I've seen people DC from this either because that killer is tunneling them and has a Mori, or because they were basically tunneled the whole game. *Not fun.* Can we work to avoid doing this?

Here is what I’ve found all day. I’m level 14 but have been lower. The killers who camp are so annoying because it’s there only skill. I’ve played 6 games today and all 6 camped.

Im sure I’m not alone when people get annoyed when players drop out. BUT - it I go to rescue 2 people and both times the killer is camping, I either walk straight to the killer. Let him hook me so I can go play a different game. If IM on the hook and the killers camping me I’ll just hit close and go to my Boyfriends profile instead of the penalty is on.

i Just don’t care to indulge in game play with these killers. It isn’t fun. If they want the points so badly, or they find it so fulfilling to use me as bate... screw you. I have better things to do with my time then indulge a poor player without any skills to actually play the game.

I was playing as The Nurse the other night. Three cakes in the lobby, none of them mine. Almost immediately after I blinked (and found a survivor), that survivor (who, it turns out, had been one of those who had brought in a cake), DC'ed without even being hit, presumably because they didn't want to face a Nurse.

I've played The Nurse less than a dozen times. I was actually running only one perk (Nurse's) and was playing simply to practice against live players and learn her mechanics since I'm, not surprisingly, terrible with her at this point. The other three survivors figured that out soon enough. I ended up getting a few hits in, actually downing a couple of people. One of them generously sacrificed themselves willingly during the EGC, the three remaining players all racked up huge bloodpoint totals and the other two easily escaped (I did pretty okay myself in BP as well), and I got some good practice in on a tough killer.

I only hope the person who DC'ed hung around long enough to see what they deprived themselves of (BP wise) by quitting on their team in what would have been a ridiculously easy match for them the way they did, lol.

In a different situation against a competent killer, that person who DC'ed would have been putting his fellow survivors at a huge disadvantage by thinking only of themselves. The DC penalties can't come back soon enough.

I can’t count the number of times in the first 2 minutes of the game someone DC’s with one hit. It’s not “rage” it’s “lazy” and childish like they need a trophy or they won’t play their video game.

when I see it I yell “Why?” Because it makes no sense to me. Players DCing early should be a penalty. And IMO a point penalty for Kikees who wait the clock standing in front of the hook. Like do tunnel and slowly your regular points dwindle they longer you stand there.

I disagree, I just did the "kill all 4 survivors by any means as Doctor" by using gross add ons. Got 3 DCs before my second hook, ez challenge.

Of course they can play that way. And every sitauation is different. But lack of skills are why players D/C and poor sportsmanship form the killer is why others D/C. It isn’t one or the other. They are all connected in their own way with the same consequences.

Okay that makes better sense but by the other person in this forum Freckle or whatever his name is he says Camping is a strategy so deal with it. It makes me laugh because on one end he is saying he hates D/C's because it robs him of points but doesn't camping also rob you the killer of many possible points and also the poor survivor that never got the chance to play?

Also he mentions how a player who D/C ruins his game but doesn't getting camped and tunnel ruin another persons game experience?

I have learned that to many people take this game to serious and never see the other sides perspective. They keep saying me me me but never look back down the finger they are pointing at others. I like how people get mad about how one person plays but then at the same time tell you to get over things when you get mad about how you play.

Sadly this community is quickly going downhill and the toxic level is on the rise. The best piece of advice I can give is to do what I do and let it roll off your back. If someone camps or tunnels sadly not much you can do but laugh at the lack of their skill. If someone D/C's just laugh and keep playing as well because it is just a game and at the end of the day if you survivor or not or if you kill or not the game goes on and your life does too. =)

I laugh it off and I think they are terrible at the game. They don’t care. But everyone has consequences because of that “strategy”. It’s the most simplistic, small minded and lack of any real skills at game play strategy so PROUDLY defehd that play but the rest of us who’ve leveled up and play at their best think your “strategy” is bullsh*t. Even IF you get the kill if that’s your goal you ended the game frustrated at D\C and with less points. You do you boo but you deserve all the criticism even IF you think we should “not take it so seriously”. Listen, if that’s all the skill you gave your a terrible player and everyone suffers.

I was a little confused by your comment. Sorry I may have misunderstood you. The part where you say, "I've watched killers sit there camping and obviously the player on the hook can see how close I am... and see how the killer isn't budging."

This part of your comment confused me because you say you have watched killer sitting there but then say the player on the hook can see how close I(you) am.

Does that mean you as a killer are right in the survivor that is on the hook's face when you play killer and you are not budging so you are camping? I mean if that is the case I mean yeeeeahh camping is a legit strategy but it is also a kind of toxic move by ruining that one players game after only one hook. That could lead others that you knock down to D/C because they would rather quit then sit on a hook letting you stare at them like a happy creeper. lol

I think you are right though that with a bunch of new players and there is many on all platforms that the new players are ranking faster then expected by piggy backing on experienced players backs. Then they get in a match with a good killer and rage quit and probably either quit the game for good or a while which kind of stinks but oh well. =) I think you may have a point though and it may be the issue.

Sorry. I mixed up my pronouns. I’m on the hook. The killer sits in front of me. The other player that would save me if the killer wasn’t camping sits and watches and then (I don’t blame them) give up and run to a generator because they also know it’s a waste of time and effort to play that way. It’s just POOR game play. On the killers part to not have any skills to actually play but instead just camp. When killers do that it’s not that I’m mad. I’m annoyed. I’m thinking are the points and the win mean so much to you, you just have to camp and can’t get any kills otherwise? No other skills besides sitting their. Watching. Waiting. It’s a waste of everyone times and it’s selfish and amateurish.

Thanks :-) I think that sounds like fun!

I'll be hooking up a mic again sometime this weekish. If we can get me to survive a chase beyond 10 secs - that'd be a win. I'm very much a team player myself. 🤗

BobbyBWeHo is my name on DBD. Feel free to send a message and say “let’s play”!

    Exactly.

This should five people a perspective. I have all the DLC's.

Playing about 8 weeks. Keep in mind I work and am on call on my off days /time often.

My characters: 7 are at 50 - three of those P1, 4 are at 40+ and the remainder at at least 20. Only 1 is at level 5.

How's that for crazy leveling. I think too I have two killers at 5 .

Btw for this that you said "You sneak to a generator and bam end up on a hook 2 minutes into the fame. Of COURSE people are going to get raged."

You are being generous - it's usually 30 seconds in, sometimes 45. So I can see why someone would DC - but my thing is - as someone's teammate - please give me a chase to come get you before you decide to DC. I'm actually not to shabby at unhooking and I rarely let anyone hang for too long. Camping makes it harder, but with two us us - we can distract and get you. Give us a chance. That is what I'd like to say to DC'ers.

If ya ever want to play with me and talk while we play I’m a great team player and will share any of the things I learned along the way.

I think too it's to get some perks maybe? I know that was my goal was to get points to open up perk slots and get some perks to try and use.

Exactly it's about fun - or should be - and not every game will be fun. At least fir us. DCing isn't the answer though. Very true.

i too ranked all my players high enough as early as I could to have all 4 perks. I get that. Get all the tools you can to survive as a new player. Killers want them too. But with the birthday cake they’ve perked themselves up so high and that’s the only way they know how to play. Perks and better weapons and offering and camping.

  • CONTROVERSIAL: Negative points for tunneling less than 10 meters for longer than 5 seconds. Encourage killers to get the skills they need to play with better sportsmanship. Encourage the players to go for the hook and get better skills at getting chased.

I know that isn’t going to happen. And I know the killers will “hate it” but they also hate all the players who D/C due to their lack of skills to play any other way.

  • I just don’t get the idea of needing points and using the birthday cake to rank up and then get to a point in your rank you shouldn’t be in. The “goal” shouldn’t be “how fast can I get the easiest amount of points to rank up and play more poorly.”

i loves getting all the points too but where’s the fun if it’s just about feeling like you ranked all the way with poor sportsmanship and are so unskilled THEY D/C. It’s a cycle that needs a solution.

to answer your questions: 1) I am not a toxic player what so ever. 2) Tunneling and camping are known strats to play the game this is not toxic behavior, 3) I do not tbag at pallets, windows or any time the killer misses. 4) you seem to know every single reason to dc outside of the two or three legit reasons. 5) I speak my mind when people bring issues like this up and say they love the penalties are gone because they are free to dc anytime! 6) with the statement like that in many posts and responses about this topic is it no wonder that people complain about dc's?

When I play killer I do not intentionally tunnel, but if you're off the hook and working on a gen,you are once again fair game because you're back in the game. I don't care if you just got off the hook, you want to do a gen near the hook and I find you then yea i'm going to down you and re-hook you. I'll slug to wait out ds or go after someone else in the area, only ONCE did I slug all 4 people and let them bleed out (why you ask? I was pissed, beyond pissed and I wanted someone to pay so I went into a match slugged them and stopped playing at the end of that match for the night).

I was in 10 matches just now and 3 of them had a dc of some sort, one was even the killer. and earlier today I was watching a friend stream as killer and he had 4 dc's in the span of 5 matches. He is not a toxic killer or anything they just wanted to deny him points, because they didn't like that they couldn't win. This is the problem people take the game so seriously they violate the game rules which does say disconnecting is against the rules when ever they feel like it. instead of grilling me on why i have so many, you need to think why you want to dc so much, and that is for everyone that dc's they have to realize that all the people that dc because "the killer nodded at me" or the killer tunneled me... or any reason other than game breaking errors (or perhaps panic attacks caused by the game) are the reason that people who get disconnected because their power went out, their router fried, the isp went down and more reasons outside of the player's control, get penalized as well. there is no way to discern a network issue from someone removing the ethernet cable from their router.

It’s not that I don’t understand giving up sometimes. I “sacrifice” myself all the time to “help” my “team” so they don’t waste their time with me on the hook. I don’t DC. I could. But that’s not my gameplay. I like working in a team and want my team to do the best they can.

I still think the birthday points ranked up too many players and killers who have no skills.

sore camping” is “a strategy. But no matter how you look at it I say it’s poor sportsmanship. And a player D/C straight out is wrong too... but I “GET” when the game starts. You sneak to a generator and bam end up on a hook 2 minutes into the fame. Of COURSE people are going to get raged.

it’s two fold. If killers want all the points they can get with practicing and getting better skills it’s on THEM to not just “win” but PLAY. It took me a long time to learn how to “escape” from a killer. I’m so much better than I was.

if people have ranked up SO high due to the birthday cake. The skilled players are getting unskilled players and every game is a frustrating loss. I played one game today that basically was hide and seek. The entire game. Which had its own element of fun but none of the players were skilled enough to do anything but hide and get saved from a hook.

im like. Can you all do your part together so we can get at least ONE generator done. It was like a 15 minute fame of running away and hiding. That isn’t a “fun” game for any of us. But I beg the killer was so happy to killer each tunneled player one by one. And I say “congrats.” You have no skills. Now You get more points to rank up and now go ruin someone else’s game.

Holy poop on toast. I think you are on to something here.

I joining I think just before the anniversary? (I'm at 7 -8 weeks now.) It was not done for the anniversary - it happened to be the time.

I'm bad, and the fact that I'm often at a 6 - 7, ( I range between that and a 10 -11 depending on the week), shocks me. I no longer look at numbers as having meaning. I've kicked rank 1's butts as a teammates and I been beaten to the ground by rank 20 killers. I no longer take into consideration a team-members, or killers rank.

Lose for me is a -1 etc. A win for me is 0 or a + it doesn't matter if I didn't survive. Even at a zero it's usually been a fun game.

I feel I went up too fast and my skill aren't seemingly going with it. Especially in chases. (There is another weird thing that happens too. I often start to lag if a killer is near me - even before the heartbeat. During a chase it happens often too. Makes it harder-much harder.)

I have seen players dc on the very first hook, and come to think of it, yes, it's almost when the game has started and they are immediately hooked before they can do anything.

Don't shoot me - but I will sometimes suicide hook. Normally for good reason - but if I've had a number of really bad games in a row and I get into yet another where I'm on the hook before I've even barely moved, have kindred on, and I see my teammates either doing nothing, two people healing one soul, or they come beside me and start healing or doing the gen beside me while leaving me hooked - I'm out. At that stage I know it's wasted to stay around and I might as well move on to the next game. At that point you can pretty well guess I'm dead anyway. I might , if I have enough time left - try to pull myself off before hand but ...

BTW I rate every game I'm in - but I'm not sure what that even does.

If you already ranked up that high in 4 weeks than two things are happening. Your skills at escaping the killer haven’t developed so you are an easy hook. And then if the killer lacks skills too you sit there frustrated they won’t go away. I’ve been playing a lot since Quarantine so I went I think from upper 20’s to 12 since then and there were moments in the teens that I felt I was just out gamed. It stopped being fun. My BF also has an account and rarely played so I went back up to the 20’s to gain skills. I’m at 17 now on his but this week and my skills are MUCH better playing on an even playing field.

Do you really have this many people who D/C in your games? If so why when so many others do not have this issue? I am not assuming it is you but there has to be a root to the cause of your problem. I mean you posted at least 3 topics about D/Cing and now in this persons topic. I will say that there certainly are rage quitting babies who get downed once and quit but then there are those people that don't want to reward toxic behavior on either side.

If you are and it seems you may be having this big of an issue with that many D/Cing people in your games ask yourself why? I see maybe one D/C out of every 5 or 6 games but it sounds like and just asking but you are having this issue more often then not. I mean you seem to have this issue to the point it is ruining your game experience and not sure why it is happening to you that much.

Do you do anything toxic to rage people into quitting? Do you tunnel or camp? Do you slug and just let people bleed out which can make people mad? I mean the list goes on.

Then on survivor side they could be teabagging and be stuck as a killer against survivors out of your rank and this does happen. You could have a team mate and this has happened to me that kept letting the killer know where you are. The person kept opening the locker I was in and pointing to it. Their name was even Toxic* . The list goes on but there is many reasons people D/C. I hope you find the root of the reason you are having so many D/C's.

Players get hit once and D/C. Or get put on the hook the first time and D/C. I’ve watched killers sit there camping and obviously the player on the hook can see how close I am... and see how the killer isn’t budging.

I’m not toxic at all. I rarely comment or rate. I like to play fairly but these D/C are often players that I haven’t even interacted with in the game yet.

MY theory is the Birthday celebration got so many “newish” or “still learning” players to up their rank. Their skills aren’t improving. They just keep getting more and more things to take into the game. They keep ranking up. And they keep losing. Meanwhile due to the birthday cake they still get extra points no matter how bad they are. My theory is it’s a lot players who went up in rank before they should. So you have a rash of new killers that only know how to camp because they have no skill to kill without out it. And a ton of players who feel overwhelmed and D/C.

  • I just tried to escape from a hook instead of DC and I actually instead got off the hook. The killer was tunneling so of course he let me lay there as bait. At that point I wanted to DC so the other players don’t take time to find out there is no way to heal me. So not only did I sacrifice myself but I couldn’t even get out of the game unless I DC’d. WHY ARE YOU PLAYING IF YOU ONLY TUNNEL? Is it the points? Is it so hard to get points as a killer without just babysitting each kill? Do you lack the skills to play at the level you are playing at so you feel there is no choice.

This is my first time on the message board but it’s been on my mind over a week. Today it’s just out of control.

I don’t understand any “joy” or “fun“ when they play that way. It’s plain and simple. You suck at the game.

  • @Splinterverse said:

OP there are plenty of legit reasons to DC . . .

    • Tunnel for the mori . . . DC
    • Face camp on the hook . . . DC
    • Sandbagged by team . . . DC

    The list goes on.

And they honestly don't need to put the DC penalty back when bots are coming to take the place of anyone who DCs anyway.

Those aren’t reasons those are causes of why players do it. And it’s on the sportsman like conduct to not do those things so EVERYONE experiences a game without feeling like it’s completely hopeless due to tunneling. If a KILLER can’t play without standing 2 feet away from their kill... THEY need to get better at the game.

  • @Wylesong said:

It is THEIR RIGHT because they paid for the game. I do not care about what the Constitution or whatever says. It is funny you assumed I am from there. Once again like others you assumed that I assumed or cared where you are from and I didn't and don't, but plain and simple you cannot tell someone who used THEIR OWN MONEY what they can and cannot do in THEIR copy of the game.

Your right. But it doesn’t stop them from being called ass-hats, simple minded, selfish and lacks skill. But they can do it that’s for sure.

  • EXACTLY. If a killer can’t win without tunneling every kill it ruins EVERY game.

  • @APoipleTurtle said:

DC's almost always negatively affect the match for the remaining 4 players. If killer DC's, all the survivors are now denied even playing a full match and must wait through matchmaking again for another. If a survivor DC's, killer gets denied a lot of points (both BP and Emblems) and the survivor team is put in a more precarious position. Plus killer may feel that they were cheated out of an additional kill, whether from the DC'ing player themselves, or from a "tactical disconnect" that nabbed the last survivor a hatch escape.

The only benefit I see to having no DC penalties is that all players can freely skip out on playing the Midwich map for the time being.

Hopefully BHVR will figure out a way to eliminate the exploit that was being used to unfairly ban players and reintroduce the system.

I’ve played all morning... every Killer has tunneled. I call it babysitting or setting up camp and it ruins the game. IF a killer can’t win without standing in front of their prey then THEY need to get better at the game. NOT the player. I’ve had a DC almost every game today and it’s ALWAYS because the killer is babysitting. THAT is 99% of why people DC. I don’t DC myself. I just run up to the killer. Let him kill me and hook me and try to escape the hook until I die and can play again. TODAY its been the worst I’ve seen. I’ve never survived today except once because he killed me. Went to go kill someone else. Hooked them and the trap opened next to me. KILLERS need to get better at THEIR game. Not the players.
