  • You guys need to read before condescending to someone. I said I was not being revealed when it happened.

  • Why are they changing it? It's just fine the way it is. Having to be near the killer sometimes to use it is all the interactivity it needs.

Don't let tryhard killers who think you should never escape, and tryhard survivors who think you should be able to loop a killer for 15 minutes, determine balance in this game.

Normal people who have a life outside this game (and aren't using cheats) get caught when the killer sees them, and it's nice to have a tool against that.

  • The part where the killer and the other survivors leave you to bleed out if you're not in on it.

I'm getting every single one of them banned from this game if that ever happens to me.

  • @fulltonon said:

It's funny how they don't utilize killswitch when game is 100% "unplayable" when you can't hook at all.

No, bleedout isn't answer for anything at all.

You can't even leave them to bleed out if they took No Mither. They will just keep getting up and doing the generator down there.

Literally all you can do in that situation is let them have that generator so you don't have to care about them hiding in that basement anymore.

  • This is the most exciting news the Dead by Daylight community has ever received.

  • Deathslinger.

When I play as Deathslinger (which I would rather not), survivors become auto-dodging bots and I can't hit any of them. They run circles around me, teabagging me the whole time, and I can't land a single shot on them.

Then when I play against the Deathslinger, he's a crazed psychopath who lands every shot, every time, on everyone, and knows where every survivor is at all times for seemingly no reason.

My life would be much happier if I never had to play as the Deathslinger or against the Deathslinger ever again.

  • They don't understand the game if they make a comment like that.

Serious huntresses who practice sniping across the map with their hatchets will always run full aura reading builds so they know where to throw.

And even if it's not a huntress, a full aura reading build is still a legitimate strategy and they just don't want to have to counterplay it. (Such as running to a locker when a survivor is downed so BBQ and Chilli doesn't detect you.)

I dodge p100 survivors, when they are my teammates.

Never had a decent match, when i didn´t dodge. They either are bored or terrible.

They are terrible 90% of the time.

  • More information:

I'm on PS5, but I play SWF with two Steam friends. Sometimes they leave the party before I do.

I bought a new survivor, and this is affecting them differently.

When I logout and log in again, it reverts to my previously selected survivor, and my new survivor shows the popup describing his perks when I select him again, and then his perks/addons/offerings are all empty.

  • Being able to cross the map in a couple of seconds and then score a 4k in a couple of minutes seems broken af to me.

  • Wait until you realize you're being matchmade with teammates who are only there to sabotage you and get you killed.

It's happened often when I solo queue. I'll get set up with 3 teammates who are high level and obviously playing together.

They then proceed to do nothing but screw around with the killer, then lead the killer on a chase right to my position, then run around doing nothing while I'm hanging on the hook, then unhook me just in the nick of time before I can die so I have to keep enduring this.

If you solo queue and get matched with a level ~50, a level ~75, and a level ~100, dodge that lobby immediately. Those survivors are going to ruin your survivor experience so quickly and ruthlessly and then get themselves killed right after you're done.

  • After watching Magic: The Gathering become a bunch of infantilized manchildren doing crossovers with my little pony and balder's gate and kaijus and teenage mutant ninja turtles and sh** like that, no, I would rather not watch anymore serious games I play go down that childish route.

  • Literally the only exhaustion perk I ever use. It's the least situational, most useful exhaustion perk there is.

I don't have to run up to the second floor of a building before using it. I don't have to walk around the map before using it. I don't have to find a window before using it.

I don't have to think about it or plan ahead to use it.

I'm gonna get found doing gens anyway, so I might as well get to blast off to the other side of the map and make the killer decide whether they're going to use their time coming after me.

You can still find flashlights in chests, because the killswitch does not affect the random rate from chests.

If what you say is true, you need to make a thread to let the devs know that players can circumvent killswitches by just not closing their game.

I can't believe that the server just crosses its fingers and assumes its clients are obeying an honor code.

  • I saw someone carrying a flashlight, and I immediately hard-tunneled them out of the match in hopes that they'll run out of flashlights, lol.

  • You're not a pro e-sports tournament competitor. If your team can't get out by the endgame collapse, then you guys probably weren't getting out anyway.

Sure, I'll 99 it if they're about to hook someone, on the one in a million chance someone is actually running Blood Warden. But otherwise I'm opening it to let my teammates know that they have a path of escape.

  • Why does Chucky have the same powers as The Pig but 5x better than her versions of them?

  • I run lightborn whenever I play Wesker, because he wears sunglasses and he's too cool to let a flashlight ruin his day.

  • My Pyramid Head build is

    • Spies From The Shadows
    • Surveillance
    • Hex: Ruin
    • Sloppy Butcher
    • Two add-ons to maximize trails duration.

Low hours played, so your mileage may vary.

I find him pretty unwieldy because he has to inexorably walk everywhere. So I find that he needs Ruin as an early game crutch so he can focus on chasing, he needs Surveillance so he doesn't waste time, finds Sloppy Butcher good so the survivors waste time, and he needs Spies from the Shadows so people being sneaky can't slip by him.

With this build, I focus on patrolling gens. If someone is going to run you away from gens, just leave them and go back to patrolling gens. Let Ruin take care of regression as you patrol around and chase people off of gens.

Ruin activates Surveillance, so you can see at all times when someone gets on a gen. Once Ruin is deactivated, then be thorough about kicking gens so you can use Surveillance to go back to any gen that is being done.

Even if I'm running into exploitative bully squads that find my Ruin totem right away, I still run it.

Put trails in cheeky positions, like sticking small bits of trail in tall grass, behind windows, or around corners, so they won't realize it's there until they run into it.

Anticipate and begin dragging your sword when you predict they're about to vault something, then snipe them once they're locked into that decision.

Note: Spies From The Shadows might be a bit hit-or-miss at the moment, because everyone is running Calm Spirit so they don't get crushed by everyone running Ultimate Weapon.

One Pyramid Head I played against used Nurse's Calling + Sloppy Butcher to snipe us from a distance while we were healing behind a rock. That was pretty impressive.

  • How come there is no server side validation of how fast you can run?

  • @Pulsar said:

Sure, I like to be challenged. That's basically my entire reason that I stopped playing DBD though.

Killer was way too easy 99% of the time and there wasn't any consistent challenge. That's why I explored comp.

Survivor was the opposite, but the same result. Solo Q was horrendous with little challenge. It was either stomp or be stomped and that's not entertaining gameplay to me.

That's because you played with survivors who don't know what they're doing.

It's a coin flip in this game. You either get baby survivors who are easy prey, or you get bully squads who can loop you for hours and then teabag you at the exit gate while running around in your face knowing that they will still get away.

  • This started happening to me after the Xenomorph DLC came out. It's fairly rare, but the symptoms are the same. When it happens, it happens multiple times in one day.

    I'm on PS5.

  • If he has to run around at a distance, then that gives your team a chance to save you at least.

When they unhook you, try to force the killer to hit you first, since your endurance will protect you and save them from getting hit.

  • Since every Wendigo hunting game makes the players run around the forest getting totems and collectibles, a Wendigo in DBD should get a perk like Hex: Plaything that creates several totems around the map.

    ------------

    Hex: Curse of the Forest

When you hook a survivor, if there are 1 or more dull totems left on the map, Hex: Curse of the Forest lights one. While there are 1 or more Hex: Curse of the Forest totems active on the map, survivors suffer from a 4/5/6% penalty to repair speed.

    ------------

This would give killers some cover if they run a hex they don't want to get snuffed, and can also give Hex: Pentimento a way to get their totems snuffed.

  • Since every Wendigo hunting game makes players run around the map getting totems and collectables and such, a Wendigo in DBD should get a perk like Hex: Plaything that generates several totems on the map.

    Hex: Curse of the Forest

Hex: Curse of the Forest starts with 5 tokens. Whenever you hook a survivor, if there are 1 or more dull totems left, Hex: Curse of the Forest spends a token and lights one. While one or more Hex: Curse of the Forest totems are lit, survivors suffer a 4/5/6% penalty to repair speed. When there are no more tokens, Hex: Curse of the Forest deactivates.

This would force survivors to choose between generators and totems.

It would also give some protection to killers who want to run a Hex perk and not have to worry so much about SWFs just snuffing their totem at the start of the game.

It would also give Hex: Pentimento players another means to force survivors to give totems that the killer can re-light, instead of SWFs just ignoring your hexes and Pentimento not getting any play all game.

I have around 2k hours on her. I normally try to put 3 traps as soon as possible and decide on the fourth. I dont normally patrol boxes because i know where they need to go. Most survivors take the most optimal route possible so their movement is very predictable.

I basicly know where they are.

Pig is a comeback killer. I often lose 2 - 3 gens for my first down and then get 8 - 12 hooks.

Oh. I have like 200 hours in the whole game, but I thoroughly enjoyed prestiging her once I figured her out. :P

  • In addition to the other comments, I think there's also an "anime pfp" "4chan loli waifu" phenomenon.

Some men don't want to grow up and become serious, adult males.

Instead, they want to remain infantilized and child-like, and refuse to grow up.

When it comes to self-expression, they will choose silly and childish means of expressing themselves, such as anime waifu profile pictures, and playing female characters in all their games.

  • @radiantHero23 said:

    Stay calm and destroy them.

Remember your strengths. Pig has many. Your strength is not in chase but in making their head explode.

Use that and make us fellow pig mains proud 🐽

(If she's one of your three favorite killers, does that count as a pig main?)

For Pig mains, her strength is making the survivors spread themselves thin with too much to do, so they aren't doing gens so much anymore.

Rather than just putting a trap on everyone as soon as you get them, it can sometimes be good to wait until the time is right, and then put several bear traps on survivors at once.

Once one or more survivors have traps on their heads, don't just keep patrolling gens and ignore them. Patrol puzzle boxes too and harass them off of the boxes. Don't be afraid of how counter-productive it feels to stop their death timer. If you get a hook, they still have to go find a box again after the unhook. If you get enough hooks to kill them off and waste the trap, oh well, they're still dead.

Some tryhard sweat squads will even completely stop doing gens for the rest of the game because they're all buddies together and they want to let each other get their traps off. If you do a rotation and find that they aren't even touching gens anymore, then you can just patrol boxes for the rest of the game and lol when they rage about it.

  • Isn't that same exact tiger logo already in the game on a map offering?

  • "If it was an actual survivor, I wouldn't be bothered."

I am bothered, because actual survivors play like psychic bots all the time. Knowing where you are at all times, repositioning themselves perfectly at all times, even when you're undetectable.

  • Play survivor with your friends.

I would start killing myself on hook whenever I got pissed off and felt the game was bullshit.

When I did that with my friends, they told me after the game "We could've won that if you didn't suicide at the start."

That made me realize that someone I actually cared about was depending on me to stay and keep trying.

So that forced me to persevere even when I felt it was bullshit.

My attitude improved, I began persevering instead of rage-quitting.

And now I'm better about sticking with it to the end, both as survivor and as killer.

Also, if your killer is underpowered enough to put you back into rage-quitting, stop playing that killer.

If you need to prestige a garbage killer, play as a good killer and then feed your bloodpoints into the garbage killer's bloodweb.

You get like 3-6x more bloodpoints as killer than as survivor, so it's much easier to feed a garbage killer's bloodweb by just playing a different killer.

I always wonder where those killer mains who complain ad nauseam about how ‘OP’ survivors are when threads like this pop up. They say jack all about this very common phenomenon you’re facing, OP. 🤷🏽‍♀️

It's a coin flip really. Some days the survivors are OP and dunk on us all day with zero skill necessary. Other days we get to harvest free potatoes all day.

I have found that the high prestige survivors are the potatoes. High P survivors always play terrible and get killed easily.

Especially if you solo queue and you see three high P survivors pop up together in your lobby.

    Especially if it's a 50, a 75, and a 100.

Seeing a solo high P means they're going to die first. Seeing three high P's together means they're a troll squad who is only there to make solo Q's suffer.

A team of three high P survivors always screws around near the killer and gets themselves downed right away, then leads the killer to you, then leaves you on the hook forever, then if you try to ######### they always get the unhook at the last second to force you to stay longer.

If I'm solo queuing survivor, I always dodge when I see high P's on my team because I know they're going to let me down.

  • I always run lightborn on Wesker, because he wears sunglasses, and he's too cool to let something as silly as a flashlight ruin his day.

We need killers that not oppressive in chase but with base slowdown. Longer chase is fun for survivors, and longer objective is better for killer

This is an incredibly fine line to walk. Getting it wrong is exactly what we have with chess merchant, even after regression nerfs.

Unfortunately you simply can't make the slowdown *too* strong, or it will be the only thing people do. Sadly, 'don't ever chase but kick gens for an hour' is a play style that a lot of killers seem to *want* and will take any opportunity to do it.

Why do survivors feel entitled to lead killers on an infinite loop for an hour without ever getting caught while the rest of their team gets to do all the gens for free?

  • Apparently not, because I can't find what buffs I thought were buffs again, lol.

    I retract my statement.

  • What nerfs? The patch notes listed mostly buffs to an already oppressive killer.

Having a hard time picking an absolute favourite. I’m kind of a Jack-Of-Most-Trades when it comes to killers.

Gameplay-wise, Slinger, when he works, is some of the best killer gameplay I’ve ever had. Given that he was also my first experience with ADS’ing, I’ve also come quite a ways with him.

Sadako was my favourite until very recently. I have a tendency to gravitate towards lesser-played characters (although not the very least picked.) To me, it was her combination of efficacy through on-the-fly teleports, and the fact people consistently kinda underestimated how good a non-slugging Sadako could be. But now that she’s been updated I can’t consistently teleport away from a bad chase anymore, meaning more downtime that I often can’t really afford. Also Slugdako’s have soured her character.

As for theming, predictably I have to say Artist. She is birb lady, and I like birbs. The fantasy of controlling an army of crows seems really fun, and when she just came out I had a great time with her. But now that players have adapted to her I’m struggling to make sense of her playstyle.

I recently prestiged her because I wanted her perks. Wound up thoroughly enjoying her while doing so. (Same with Freddy, The Doctor, Pyramid Head...)

I found that her strong suit is 3-gen camping at the end. You "wink-wink-nudge-nudge" make sure the last 3 gens are close together, then you constantly send crows to them and chase people off of them and slowly win through attrition. The crows scare them off of a gen quicker because they think you're coming for them.

My best games as her were on Raccoon City PD. Survivors will try to aggressively do the gens in the center room because they don't want to be forced to do them later, so you aggressively keep them off of those gens, and make sure those two and a nearby one are the last three.

  • I bought this game a couple months ago solely because I heard they were putting the Xenomorph in it. I never cared about this game before, but when I heard that, I bought it instantly.

Then I bought the Xenomorph DLC as soon as it came out.

Then I never played the Xenomorph, not even in a practice mode. I dunno why, I just didn't feel like it. But I'll get around to it!

The Huntress, because I'm a furry, and I have to play the furry bait in every video game. I wear the doggy mask with the red markings on it. I will be biding my time until the masquerade next year to get her wolf mask.

It's a shame she's so difficult to play as.

    The Dredge.

Before, I never cared about The Dredge because it's so butt-ugly and unappealing aesthetically.

Then I saw his horse skin and thought to myself "That's absolutely terrifying!" And I've been a horse-Dredge main ever since. I bought the Maurice skin before I even played The Dredge once.

Then I read his story, about how he's this terrible being that emerges from the repressed darkness in people and moves through their village while they're hiding in their homes, and I absolutely love how his locker teleporting is a perfect embodiment of that feeling of dread he's supposed to invoke and prey on.

I've noticed that I play Dredge different than most people. All the youtubers play him like a normal M1 killer who can sometimes teleport to a locker when they need to.

I play Dredge by busting out of lockers all game and slapping people before they can react, then get the hook as quickly as possible, then immediately busting out of the next locker and slapping the next person while they're still having a heart attack.

Apparently Teleporter Killers are my jam, and The Dredge is my favorite.

  • The loser saying GG first is being a good sport.

The winner saying GG first is just rubbing it in.

Luckily I'm on console and there is no game chat. I would be sending people death threats in this frustrating game.

  • It seems to me like you're getting matched against sweaty bully squads every game. There's not much anyone can do about their exploitative tactics, unless you're Otz and you have like 10,000 hours in this game.

The ridiculous auto-dodges, the literally always knowing where you are, the literally always knowing where your hexes are, the pallet-drops into flashlight-blinds, the leading you on a goose chase forever without ever catching them, the ridiculous in-your-face to save each-other tactics, all reeks of organized sweat squads.

    ============

The big way they keep getting you is, you always chasing them forever while their buddies are doing generators. They will have it down to a science how to "loop" a killer forever, without ever getting caught. In the meantime, their buddies will be pushing the gens the whole time you're running around like that.

I think when you realize they're leading you on a long chase on purpose, you should disengage and go back to patrolling generators much sooner. (Although they will counter that by running straight to the gen like a psychopath the instant you turn around to disengage from them.)

    ============

Alien is like a teleport killer, an information gathering killer, and a chase killer, simultaneously. But his "teleport" and information gathering relies on the tunnels. You seem to be good at finding where they are when you're in tunnel, and you've seen how they can't be cheeky and hide from you due to Killer Instinct when you exit the tunnel.

If you're going to be spending a lot of time above-ground like you tend to do, maybe I would take more information gathering perks, like, I dunno, Spies from the Shadows. I just got done grinding Pyramid Head, who really has no way to get around, so he needs to know where to look. With Spies from the Shadows, I literally always know when the survivors are trying to be cheeky around me, it does so much work.

I noticed you using Legion's perk to tell if two or more are on the same gen. Another alternative could be The Pig's Surveillance, which will tell you as soon as a gen stops regressing. (Though you'll need to be more focused on patrolling gens if you want to get use out of that one.)

    ============

The thing about Otz and other streamers like him is, when they recommend a build, they're recommending it to people who are good at the game and can exploit the build. They recommend Legion's perk for Alien because of how quickly you can get to a gen through the tunnels. The intended strategy Otz and other streamers are thinking of is: "split the survivors up and then oppress them". But that's going to rely on you always being on their ass as soon as they try to team up on a generator.

If you're not going to play like that, then you should create your own build that fits your playstyle.

    ============

I haven't tried Alien yet, but when I do, I think I will bring my Pyramid Head build over, because it did so much work for me as Pyramid Head.

Spies from the Shadows: Crows within x distance of you give you a visual when a survivor goes near one. If you are going to spend a lot of time above-ground and get burned by turrets a lot, this could help you find survivors more consistently.

Hex: Ruin: I see you already use this one. It's good if you want to focus on chasing and don't want to spend time kicking. It de-activates when someone dies, but that's fine. The "early game pressure" is worth it. If they're good enough not to die, you keep getting value out of it. Once one of them are dead, you probably won't need it anymore. (Though you will need to be consistent about kicking gens once it's gone, and sweaties will probably find your hex totem, so you may wind up having to kick gens anyway.)

Surveillance: Regressing gen turns white. When it stops regressing, it turns yellow for 8 seconds and then turns red again. This has a fun synergy with Hex: Ruin. When you chase someone off of a generator, Hex: Ruin activates Surveillance without having to kick the gen.

Sloppy Butcher: I put this on all of my killers because it's just a good, solid perk. Helps waste their time by taking longer to heal. Makes me feel like my hits get more value. :P

    ============

It's fine to look to others for build ideas. But at the end of the day, you still have to make a build that fits your own playstyle. You can borrow ideas if you think they will be good for your build.

Other than that, I would just say: Recognize when a survivor is leading you on a wild goose chase, and then just leave them and go patrol gens. If you keep their gens low, they can't escape.

    ============

A more advanced addition to this: If they are outplaying you on the gens, try to make sure the last three gens on the map are close together, so they'll be easier to patrol. Then make sure and patrol them and don't get too obsessed with chasing someone forever. If you whittle all the gens down to zero, then you can go chase someone around the map knowing that they won't finish a gen in time.

  • Literally have spent days playing against him and I think I've escaped once.

I almost escaped a second time, but on 1 gen left he picked me up and somehow forced both me and him to disconnect at the same time.

  • I lobby dodge for the opposite reason.

When I'm solo queue and I see a P50, a P75, and a P100 on my team, I know with 100% certainty that they are going to dick around near the killer all game, not do any gens, then lead the killer to my position, then leave me on the hook forever. Then if I try to kill myself to get this bullshit over with, they will get the unhook just seconds before I die so they can force me to keep suffering this bullshit for even longer.

I'm more likely to win and have fun with P0's and P1's on my team because at least they're trying to play the game.

Even if I only get one max-leveled survivor on my team, they still get killed first and accomplish nothing.

  • The only people saying "xeno is strong in chase sort of but not a problem really, myess quite quite indeed *sniffs own farts*" are the sweaty 4-man flashlight squads who no killer can beat anyway.

Meanwhile for the rest of us solo-queuing in the real world, Xeno easily 4K's literally every game and it's not even a contest.

The problem isn't even "he's strong in chase", it's the fact that it can be anywhere on the map and it has almost full map awareness before it commits to where it's going to come out. Then when it comes out, it sees you through any terrain even if it can't read your aura. It can also usually see where you place your turrets.

So literally anything you do to participate in the game gives away your position and puts him instantly on you.

I say this as a Dredge main who bought this game solely because I heard they were putting the Xenomorph in.

The only counterplay against Alien is to hide in a corner somewhere until you see that he's chasing someone else. Then as soon as he hooks someone, you better go hide in your corner again.

In other words, the only winning move is not to play.

  • I've had several killers pick me up and then disconnect today. Usually aliens, but one michael myers did it too.

They were either winning the game or losing the game, and they seemed to do it on purpose because they were either frustrated or being toxic.

All the times only the killer disconnected, they had won the game. Everyone remaining was downed, and they were taunting us, picking us up and dropping us, slapping us, etc. Then they picked me up, the game became unresponsive, then showed the killer disconnected.

The one time we were winning against an alien, with only one generator left and everyone still up, the alien downed me, then picked me up, then began walking towards a wall. Then the game became unresponsive with the alien still walking against the wall, I couldn't wiggle anymore, no-one else moved anymore. Then the game ended, with the alien and me disconnected. The other three survivors got to keep all their bloodpoints, just me and the alien got zero bloodpoints and lost our items and temp-banned me from matchmaking.

  • Just because it can be outplayed doesn't mean it's balanced. Streamers with 10,000 hours can outplay hackers, that doesn't mean hacks are allowed.

Since Alien can see you in tunnels, see you when it emerges from tunnels, equip addon that sees your turrets, equip legion's "see if two people are on gen" perk because a youtuber told them to, run at you from across the map when it couldn't see your aura, etc etc etc...

The only counterplay is hide far enough from the gens and tunnels until someone gets chased anywhere on the map. Then when they get hooked, hide again until there's another chase somewhere.

The alien will disconnect when it isn't autowinning anymore, and might disconnect you with it and get you banned from matchmaking for 15 minutes.

  • I don't understand what you mean. Pistons break holocubes, so wouldn't it have to be 2 deep?

  • On Chrome, you can just right-click the link and select "Open link in incognito window".

I don't know about other browsers.

  • I just got this. Wrecking tryhards as the hag (because I want her abilities), and then as soon as it looked like it was going south for them, boom, dedicated server not responding.

I just got the game several days ago, been playing sunup to sundown, this is the first time it's happened to me.

Though over the last couple of days, I have suddenly been getting "someone disconnected during loading" somewhat often too.

I just have to say that this new trap is really fun to play with and against. I love the visual. I love the sound effect. I love the random angles. It is just a really well designed game addition imho. I hope they add some more trap mods related to lasers. Something that makes it so your traps or guards don't die to your own lasers would be nice. A fixed angle mod would be cool. I'd like it if they added a random color laser mod that cost 0 so I could make a disco room! They should make a guard with a laser next.

You should try testing if Warmongers with the fire immunity mod will survive the laser beam.

  • In PS5 I have had a couple of odd crashes to its desktop here and there.

I have a replay where a player can crash my game by throwing a phoenix pod. It's 100% consistent, every time I replay the replay, it crashes when he throws that pod. (I reported it using the in-game thing already.)
