Once again very easy to abuse simply start looping tge killer around the hook so the killer either has to abandon The Chase or the survivors get a free boost even though The Killers not technically camping

Looping is SO easy to combat...

"Second, it ruins the match for the others because there's one less person and less time to do gens. If another survivor comes to unhook me while being camped then that's more time lost on gens."

    @ACESMONEY

    That is the killer's job!

An entire killer's emblem (Gatekeeper) relies in this kind of behavior for the killer:

"You win points every second, based on the amount of incomplete Generators remaining on the Map.

Ending the Trial with incomplete Generators also grants bonus points towards this Emblem.

The goal of this Emblem is to receive as many points as possible"

your job as a survivor is to repair gens to be able to escape the match while evading the killer!

The killer's job is to find survivors an sacrifice them before they escape tru the doors!

If you can't cope with how the killer accomplish his objetive then I'm afraid this game isn't for you

There! games more suitable for you:

    https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/6878/Disney_Games_Princess__Fairy_Pack/

There's no need for petty comments here. I know what the killers job is. I see camping as and unfair advantage in the killer's favour. the killer already has many advantages.

So... you want to punish the killers for doing succefully they jobs sacrificing survivors, and want rewards for the survivors for failing theirs escaping the killer?

like as in "the killer didn't work at all finding and whacking twice a survivors with pallets loop and fleshlights in beetween and the hooking a survivor with pallets flashlight and bodyblocking in between and has no right to ensure you out of the match"?

And then the survivor mains are offended when others call them "Biased"

You don't sound at all like:

"A killer musn't do his job, I´m entitled to survive no matter what and to the hell with everything else aside the survivor's fun!"

Your second paragraph has my head spinning BTW. Anyway, I think you should read more carefully as to why I think camping is bad. These are just ideas.

wait, how does the killer camping you and you only, ruin the game for everyone else?...that statement does not make any sense...

First, it ruins the match for any survivor who gets camped. Second, it ruins the match for the others because there's one less person and less time to do gens. If another survivor comes to unhook me while being camped then that's more time lost on gens. It's not impossible for three players to escape or even two but the odds decrease. I've heard all the arguments saying that if one survivor is camped then the others go to town on the gens ultimately leaving the camped player to die. You don't get camped in every match and there's always the next round but I'm tired of running across players who camp. Not to mention losing items because of it. Items cost bloodpoints so essentially I lose bloodpoints for a killer camping.

Not everyone has fun the same way you do and most players aren't campers. The issue is that this sort of thread gets thrown up everyday and it is always the exact same. The game isn't going to have an even dispersal of 'fun'. Some players have fun dominating other players, others have fun increasing their skill, others have fun just watching the world burn. Camping is going to happen at some point and the game already gives out massive penalties for it. At some point you just start to learn as others have that penalties aren't going to stop the people who make it a habit to camp.

Yet, the game being designed in such a way that it can even have a camping situation is something that can be addressed if everyone who made these threads to complain about campers started to instead ask the devs to change who the base game functions. Killers are reliant on hooks, it is their sole objective. That in an of itself is a problem. Survivors are reliant on doing gens and that is their sole objective and it is a problem. The game needs more mechanical incentive to make players not engage in loops, camping, etc. If there were more things to do in game that required both sides attention then we'd have these issues less. Killers specifically need other basic gameplay mechanics that can constitute them winning the game. Using the hooks should be an option, but no longer the only way.

You complain about my post and others like it but yet you offer suggestions to combat camping?

"The killers objective is to kill the survivors, no matter how!"

You're wrong. The killer objective is the same as survs: Have fun.

I'm wrong? I think most of the community disagrees with you. Keep your eyes on the forum.

If he kills you by camping, then he gots a reason most of the time. He gets an emblem penalty anyways. Survs complain about it, but it's still part of the game. And please, you should never forget that "camping" is kinda wanted if you look at perks like Insidious. THis game is becoming more and more complaining instead of playing.

Never forget one thing: The killers objective is to kill the survivors, no matter how! He gets a penalty anyways. He doesn't need to care if he ruins the game for the survivors cause this is his job in the end. If you all escape, then you've ruined the game for the Killer. We can't all be winners at the end!

Slowing the progression or outright stopping it has already been done survivors abused the hell out of it by looping around the area.

There's a reason why people are complaining. Just saying!

What part of "can be mathematically proven" did you not understand? They asked for a formal definition of camping that could be used to create a detection algorithm. Your definition is just words.

Are you a game dev? Neither am I.

Abrom said: Here comes my premade camping info :

Camping was intended from the start:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SS3DvvOQI04

The devs themselves showing you how to camp and how well it pays off: http://steamcommunity.com/app/381210/discussions/0/135512931366729940/

The devs then tried to change their game to appease camping-haters:

As you've now seen, the devs tried to punish killers for camping, but survivors just abused it. So now the devs seem to be at a point where they're fed up with hearing about camping:

Although FACEcamping will SUPPOSEDLY get you banned...:

That was actually a hollow threat:

    This is what facecamping is:

The only reason survivors keep telling the devs to do something about camping is because they want their own camping to pay off. I'm talking about survivors camping the hook until the killer goes away. Survivors already have a way to punish camping and it's called "doing gens." I do this all the time against a camping killer, meanwhile, my teammates keep giving them a reason to camp. You think doing gens is boring? Well, camping with no reason is boring, and if you did your boring part as survivor, killers' camping wouldn't pay off and they would come after you while you do your gen. With new killers, there will always be camping, because they need to learn what does and does not pay off. So, stop telling the devs to fix camping when it's YOUR responsibility. Stop cussing and demeaning campers because you're the one that's not willing to learn. You want to be the hero? This isn't the game for you.

Everyone across the gaming world knows and the Devs should know that camping in any game is looked down upon. This is why DBD will never be as great as it could be. The survivor should at least have a better chance to get themselves of the hook when being camped or a slower entity progression as mentioned by someone else on this post. As for the face camping bit, "With new killers, there will always be camping, because they need to learn what does and does not pay off." Why should I die, lose items and have my experience ruined at the expense of a new player or someone that can't play the game well? A new player playing as a survivor might now come back to the game because of camping. Like I said before, everyone across the gaming world knows that camping in any game is looked down upon. Yes! The killer should have an advantage but not so much so that they can ruin the experience especially for new players. I've seen far too often people being toxic in DBD because someone got pi$$ed off because of camping. I've had it directed at me and I've seen it on Twitch. I'm not holding the Devs responsible for people's bad behaviour or the person doing the camping but I gotta say that the environment doesn't help curve the toxicity. If the Devs want people to camp then what are we going to do about it?

Define camping in terms that can be mathematically proven

From a simple Google search I found this; In video gaming, camping is a controversial and much-hated tactic where a player obtains a static strategic position of advantage. ... Among many players, camping is considered very similar to cheating, especially in deathmatch-type first-person shooter games.

  • @MeatN2Vedge said:

I'm pretty sure the devs have already said camping is a legit tactic

Can you direct me to where they said this? If they did then that is.... interesting. 😐️

  • @JoannaVO said:

What I'm experiencing as survivor quite a lot lately is that the killer has no option but to camp or tunnel. I don't agree with all situations of camping, but in most I do agree with it. Plus the survivors have the chance to push the generators fast.

They should make changes (such as increasing generator repair time) so that killers don't have to camp or tunnel someone but have the time to go for someone else without regretting and losing their match.

Are you saying the survivors will start repairing gens faster if the killer camps? That would good!

  • @kabarekabal said:

Hex ruin should have a time period for which it works in order for it to be fair to newbies/average players.

Pro players know how to efficiently find and destroy a hex totem quickly. And they understand the importance of it, having had huge experience playing the game.

As for hook camping, the simple solution would be slower entity progression the closer the killer to the hook is.

    Good idea!

  • @ThatGuyFromThatPlace said:

Oh yeah, killer dies from camping

    ######### great idea you brainlet

Get real... What are you? A ######### 10 year old survivor main?

If you're going to be toxic then please leave the forum. My self and others are trying to make DBD better.

  • @Orion said:

There's already an Emblem penalty, as long as survivors aren't also nearby and the killer isn't in a chase. So get to work on those generators and punish campers.

It doesn't go far enough though. I've had many games where the killer camps until I die basically ruining the game for everyone.

  • I've only had the UI mess up once so far but no problems since. I hope you'll extend the event. Off topic! What I'd like to see is the words moderately, considerably and tremendously separated into their own color catagory. Right now those terms are crossing over into other colors rendering the meaning of the color system useless. Along with the color system. I believe there should be an exact explanation of what an item actually does. for example. There shouldn't be any guess work. Also, your daily rituals needs some work. Example, the relic veneration challenge says "Escape and collect a new item 1 time(s)." It should be worded, During a match retrieve an item you did not start a match with then escape. The sub discription should read, if you use all charges of the found item before escaping you will still complete the challenge. Other than that. I hope you can fix the frame rate on PS4....PLEASE. :) Thank you!
