Omg you all have been so helpful! Thanks so much for all the feedback and advice, I've turned off messaging/put it to friends only on my PS4 already.

Kiatening to all your stories, I can't believe how crazy people can get in this game! I'll certainly take the recommendation to try survivor side too :)

Even if you want to main killer side, playing survivor can really help your killer gameplay improve! If you can learn how to play against a certain killer, or learn how to run better/complete objectives while you manage the match as a survivor, you'll be able to better predict and outplay other survivors in chase and learn how to prioritize chase vs map pressure. All the best luck to you, don't let the toxicity keep you down. Unfortunately there's nothing for it except to mute or report and move on and not to feed into it yourself. Like others, I really recommend finding a streamer or channel that you really like and can learn a lot from it helps so much, and a lot of people have recommended really good ones previously. Otz's YouTube especially has a lot of specific information on things like maps/perks/addons for all killers/survivors.

Honestly unless you're going out of your way intentionally to be toxic yourself, almost all complaints are going to be generally unfounded and those people aren't worth any mental space to you. There are a lot of fun players and people in the community, it's just that the nasty ones can be aggressively yucky and loud so it's best to just ignore them and not let them impact you, and you'll grow to be a better player than they will.

  • [other] because the only thing I really hate is when a survivor waits and the exit gate or hatch for 80% of EGC just to tbag the killer and leave. it's probably more aggravating while playing survivor and you have to wait and watch a teammate vault a nearby pallet two minutes just to be nasty instead of just leaving. i guess the rest can be annoying but rarely actually aggravating. it'll either be their downfall or i'll just go chase someone else nbd

  • I don't really think the players that would need those tips would be very receptive to them at all and might even backfire to make it worse tbh. And like @NoxVeno said, I don't think it's a wise or healthy decision for BHVR to step in to impose a 'how it should be played', even if all it is is a little tip in the loading screen. Players need to be able to have freedom of action, for better or worse.

  • (I wrote way too much originally, so tl;dr) I definitely agree with you. I think the style overall has changed to a point where it's overcompensating with information and doing a very poor job of immersive and engaging storytelling, and it shows most plainly in the Archives where the lore is necessarily expanded on with a lot more writing.

I want so badly to be interested in these stories! I love almost all of DBD's original characters - killers, survivors, and the outsiders like Benedict and Vigo, and they could just do so much better. The potential is definitely there.

Also you're wrong, Mori's Are NOT a free win, you have to balance it with hooking and hits to get a better score. I liked to punish people tho, if you cleared right away thats like 15k maybe

"I liked to punish people" I think that's probably the gist of this whole argument tbh. Sure, it wasn't the best change that could have been made but I'm glad they did it. It doesn't always guarantee an easy win, specifically with very good survivors, but it removed a lot of the gameplay on both sides and put an unfair amount of power in the hands of the killer if they decide to play scummy. Regardless of how many kills or points they get.

  • I don't mind most of the new ones, they're a bit weird but I'm sure we'll get used to them soon and honestly the least of the PTB concerns (HUD). The only one I have a big complaint about is the normal standing & walking. I guess it's more "natural" posture but it doesn't look good and I much prefer the sort of cautious hunch/creep and maybe that motion could just be updated if needed.

Killed 360's, this update will kill the game for a lot of survivors, but that is what these devs seem to be going for. Kill off the skilled players and keep the game alive for the killers who want kills handed to them. Sickening.

Skilled survivors have way more in their toolkit than 360s, which are already unreliable and a last resort. Even if the new animations "killed" being able to 360 (which as far as I can tell they're just a little more awkward and will just take some getting used to/tweaking your movement), if that was the only thing carrying you in chase then I think that's what's more your problem.

  • I don't mind it for the most part, but the only games where the survivors get slugged majorly it's boring and frustrating. The usual case is having 1-2 survivors slugged on the ground for 2+ minutes looking for the last guy, the last guy slugged so the killer can go spend 2 minutes looking to close hatch, or the killer genuinely just downing a survivor and waiting for the bleed out because they had a bad game last match. Slugging is fine, but at some point just pick me up or kill me and let's all move on to the next game.
