Borrowed Time is not good.

  • Borrowed Time (Rework)Whenever you gain Deep Wound while you have Endurance passively mend over 40/35/30s.

Dev Note: We added Elusive to the list of unhook protections previously but didn't like the idea of Borrowed Time extending it's duration. Instead we've opted to rework the perk to an entirely new effect.

I really don't know how this perk is useful; its effect isn't really significant because the survivor can mending themselves for 12 seconds or another survivor can mending for you, and it only takes 8 seconds.

Even its effect does not reflect the name perk well; with this effect, they should call it (Abbreviated Time) and not (Borrowed Time).

If you so worry about "Borrowed Time extending Elusive duration" then just make Borrowed Time don't extending Elusive duration, it's so easy

  • This perk makes it easy for a Legion to tunnel a Borrowed Time user. That really goes against the spirit of Borrowed Time, one of the OG anti-tunnel perks.

    Care to explain how?

Because if a Legion tries to tunnel someone off hook, they'll deep wound them then usually end power quickly so they can normal M1 or they'll try to bodyblock them first

They aren't gonna benefit from their deep wound being automatically gone in 30 seconds

If anything it could help counter killers who can eat through unhook endurance quickly by letting them have access to perks like Dead Hard if they can survive for 30s.

I take back the "easy" part.

    Here is the sequence:

    • Unhook happens.
    • Legion in frenzy hits the recently unhooked Borrowed Time equipped survivor first while their Endurance is still up.
    • Legion frenzy hits the unhooker.
    • Legion runs off and frenzy hits a third survivor.
    • If 30 seconds has passed since the first hit the recently unhooked survivor is automatically mended.
    • Legion returns and hits them for their 4th and 5th frenzy hits, downing them.

I didn't look at frenzy duration (default is 11 seconds) before making this post and I realize that it would require using most of the frenzy meter before getting the 2nd & 3rd hits and Killer instinct on the Borrowed Time user would come near to the end of the frenzy. Given that no one is going to be assuming someone is running Borrowed Time this is a very unlikely scenario. But if the Legion runs addons to extend the frenzy which are Mischief List (+1s) or especially Never Sleep Pills (+10s at the cost of frenzy movement speed) it becomes more likely.

  • I agree. Out of all of the perk changes this patch, this is the only one that I feel was just a complete miss and should be reverted altogether, the new effect is not good and the old effect was fine even without it extending elusive, by not extending elusive it actually makes the perk more effective because the killer can't tell the perk is there if they're following you waiting for unhook protections to expire. There being a perk that makes unhook protections longer is very healthy for the game as an anti-tunnel perk and BT needs to fulfill that role

  • This change just kills the perk and makes it niche. Borrowed Time is a DbD staple with history, make it stay true to the (mostly) original purpose, helping your teammate.

  • I've been thinking about the usefulness of this perk, but it's too weak and only really useful if you're getting tunneled and also have Dead Hard.

At least, they should reduce the recover time to 15 seconds, 30s is too much.

I think the combo is Off the Record, Borrow time and Dead Hard.

You can already do this with Second Wind. Get hit within 20 seconds of being unhooked (or 10 without OTR), Second Wind mends you and you get your DH back. As long as you have Second Wind activated, the worst case scenario is the killer doesn't tunnel you and you just get healed instead, compared to the new BT doing nothing in that situation

  • This rework is quite empty. One perk slot for just passive mending?

  • I used to like BT this is such a travesty. Bill would NOT want this! Bill helps others at his own cost.

Taking hits with endurance is just so bad to encourage. I find it so irritating because it promotes old dbd philosophy. You don't take hits off hook!

Hey now, it actually works in line with Bill. The perk is now extremely good for people who want to be tunneled out and take protection hits for people with endurance no matter how bad of an idea this is.

  • Yeah the new Burrowed Time perk needs to be stronger. They should add an additional effect for the perk so it becomes worth a perk slot.
