Will they do another licensed chapter centered Rift ?

Hey yall

I really enjoyed the Saw Rift, the one with Ghostie and Castlevania

Freddy's license seems to be dead

But they appear to be in good terms with the Resident Evil one, is it possible we got a rift about them ?

  • I've been curious on just how good of terms they are with Resident evil, as they seem quite strict in their choices compared to other licenses. For example:

    • 100% of outfits are linked (No customisation allowed except sweaters)
    • Very slow flow of content that only shows up in bulk events rather than the occasional legendary
    • Rebecca seems to be excluded from getting outfits at the same rate of others for some reason. Like when Wesker & Ada got new outfits but she did not
    • Their Badges were the only ones not allowed to be done with bhvr's artstyle, and have not included any of the legendary skins as badges
    • We could have had a rift from Resident evil quite easily by now given its one of the most played licenses in the game

I Would certainly enjoy a Resident evil rift, and i would pray the resident evil fans dont recieve the castlevania cosplay treatment, for example if they brought in Ashley as a cosplay for Kate, Luis as a cosplay for Jake, Grace as a cosplay for Yui etc, and then just put in Ethan Winters as a legendary, all in that rift. (I know I wouldnt enjoy that lol)

  • Oh my, you are right, especially the Rebecca treatment

I guess it has to do with the contract binding them

Carlos/Leon is my one and only P100 and Carlos doesn't even get a badge yeah (just like any legendary)

Regarding legendary characters, they are sort of cursed though, because they aren't fully fleshed survivors, they don't get bloody skin when reaching P4 5 and 6, they could definitely have their own perks too

I agree with you about the castlevania part, True form and Soma were cool but the cosplay is just meh

What would you be hoping for in a resident evil rift? I wonder if they would even be able to make resident evil character figure charms. Banners would be quite easy as theres allot more places than just R.P.D and the stars office.

  • Maybe… Mr X ? he is long overdue, but there is no way they would put in it, only store I guess

Other than that, survivor side, they could pick anyone from the series, even some villains (Excella could become a survivor, the interaction with Wesker or Chris could be fun), even some new versions of existing char (Hot Chris from Resident Evil Village)

But since they would all be linked "skin", you would need to unlock like 3 rows of the rift before fully unlocking the char, that would not be fun though

  • I really hope they do a Rift someday. I guess it's possible as long as the collaboration is worthwhile for Capcom.

Haven't seen an instance where a linked skin in a rift was unlocked in pieces. For example Soma was at the beginning, first full item, true forms and soma blue were also all in 1 rift level.

One thing i think is holding them back from a resident evil rift is budget. For example with saw's rift it was simple and cheap to cater 1 outfit to 2 different licensed characters, and then make a bunch of charms and rsndomised outfits for other originals. When purchasing a rift its like you get every outfit in it for 1$ instead of the 10$ or so you would normally pay for each skin, ontop of that bhvr has to buy those skins from the license holder so theres even less revinue when its practically given away for 1$. And then theres legendary skins which cost even more than a rift, and apparently take like half a year or something to make + paying for a new voice actor, and giving those away for 1$ in a rift instead of their usual 15-20.

And in resident evil's case they have 6 base characters to cater to, with most players hoping for legendaries as well as new skins for the base characters. So bhvr would be paying much more to be able to make a skin for each licensed character + give away 1 or 2 legendaries. So a resident evil rift would either be the most expensive rift bhvr has ever had to pay for - if everyone could get what they wanted from it.

But then again they just had a stranger things rift, and only added 2 character's skins in while making random outfits for everyone else, might end up like that. Maybe after a chapter 3

  • I really really want more Claire and Chris outfits, a rift would be a great way to give them those.

I'd also love Ashley or Grace, I also wish BHVR would reduce the bulk on Carlos' vest.

And claire's hand is still broken!!!

  • Strangely enough i hope to see one of the most niche characters in the whole series: Moira Burton, she would probably fit really well as a legendary for Rebecca. And a rift would probably be a good chance to add more to existing legendaries as thats the only time weve seen a legendary character, get a 2nd legendary cosmetic, even if it was just a recolour.

  • Maybe they might do it, with the upcoming RE Code Veronica ?

Oh crap, I also forgot the Stranger Things Rift😅, I think it didn't impress me so I insta forgot it

Maybe. I'm not sure if the first 2 chapters came out around any resident evil game releases. I'd have thought re9 would've been the biggest opportunity lol.

As far as the stranger things rift goes, it wasnt very impressive in the amount of content within the rift itself for stranger things characters, but they did come out with 2 legendaries on the store at the same time, that everyone was asking for since the previous season years ago. So i think they kinda went the right route with that as they gave some content, made some 80s themed stuff for the originals, and saved a bunch of stuff as (maybe later) like people are still hoping for Jim Hopper and Joyce Buyers. Unlike the castlevania rift where they tried to put too much in at once so they downgraded over half the characters into cosplays, which being a big fan of a few of the characters who ended up not getting a chance to come later, I still havent gotten over it lol

I hear theres another resident evil 0 remake being worked on too lol. My guess on the most likely upcoming chapter 2 would be five nights at freddy's tho.

  • I think Resident Evil gets enough love as it is. I think we're way past saturation point with resi content in the game.

Would love to see an Alien themed rift, though! We've had plenty of expensive legendary skins so far, but it would be nice to see a good value rift with a some Ripley cosmetics, Alien charms, badges and banners and maybe also a Feng cosplay skin (similar to what we got with Castlevania). My favourite rift so far has been the the Evil Dead one (the Necronomicon charm is goated. I pretty much bought the rift just for that).

I'd buy an Alien themed rift in a heartbeat but I think Disney likes money too much to let BHVR do anything with the IP except make more overpriced legendaries.

    Short answer: yeah

Long answer: If you follow the pattern of the last four rifts, it has been - OG (Reverence), Licensed (ST Vol 2), Licensed (Darkest Dungeon), Original (Sunflesh). It appears that the current Rift system is doing a 2:1 ratio for Licensed to OG. Will it continue that trend? Maybe, maybe not, I wouldn't bet on anything regarding consistency when it comes to BHVR. But its clear in the last 4 Rifts that I mentioned which two were almost universally loved and which two have been… polarizing to say the least.

    What licenses can we anticipate?

Saw Part 2 is a safe bet since BHVR and Lionsgate are making out sloppy style almost every day at this point.

Resident Evil - Capcom loves BHVR and if they can charge players something (unlike free P100 icons lol), they'll probably bite.

Silent Hill - Very surprised this one hasn't happened yet given how fun Dominus for Castlevania was.

Jason/Chucky - When not if, these two are solo killer money makers in terms of cosmetics.

Ringu - Hopefully someday, both Sadako and Yoichi deserve it.

And probably more I'm spacing on currently but we gotta also consider Licensed Cosmetic collabs that are Rift exclusive like Darkest Dungeon, so the amount of licensed Rift options are hypothetically infinite.

They have a very good relationship with Iron Maiden so that's a possibility as well. A Iron Maiden rift with more Eddie legendaries and shirts for survivors as well as charms, badges, and banners for all of the album covers would be awesome.

  • Getting a FNaF rift would be interesting, potentially showing character interactions with the Pizzeria in the fog, or giving a unique lens to certain game events like Afton being springlocked or his family dynamic.

The team still has yet to follow up on Foxy being absent, which has sprouted a conspiracy/cope theory from me that he was initially intended as a Blight skin but is being saved for a chapter of his own (Please don't do the Mimic for the love of God). Could be included or timed to coincide with a rift depending on which it is.

Him aside, Burning Springtrap feels like a no-brainer skin to be added imo (they added Gooptrap first for crying out loud), and the Mimic or Ennard could work as solid legendary/viscerals if chosen.

FNaF aside, a Silent Hill or RE rift would open my wallet too

Anything for Michael Afton. Seriously, I am never going to let go how disappointing it is that Scott wants the PC to be faceless despite giving him multiple appearances throughout minigames and cutscenes (sorta). And with DBD being the darkest FNAF has EVER and presumably WILL ever get, it's a colossal bummer that the purple corpse that is being fueled by Remnant and rage isn't allowed to join his dad in the Entity's realm.

I understood Michael being absent to preserve the mystery and interpretation of the character, since at the time he didn't have an official design beyond silhouette and knowing what he was about required proper understanding of the lore.

Then the second movie came out and made a complete mockery of his character for the sake of one the cheapest and most laughable plot twists ever put to film. Seriously, FNaF 2 is one of the funniest movies ever made and it is entirely unintentional on the movies part.

A proper interpretation of game Michael in DBD would become my new survivor main 100% no questions asked. Maybe alongside adding Elizabeth?

It's such a bummer too because Freddy Carter in terms of casting is pre-scoop Michael, he's grimey and scrawny and has that Afton family charm to him. But the writing that they forced that poor guy to read and act out is just… FNAF is a joke and Scott is his own worst enemy.

All the FNaF movie castings are top notch imo, Mathew Lillard and Skeet Ulrich are the literally people I imagined in the roles since 2015 and both Josh Hutcherson and Freddy Carter did the best with what they had and could've been perfect a Mike/Michael had their character not been split in half.

Have no idea what FNaF 3 is going to look like after all the backlash, but at least it won't be boring?
