1v4 feels dull and boring
after thousands of hours of dbd I’ve officially became bored of playing 1v4 and I get happy when 2v8 comes out. Am I the only one that thinks 1v4 needs some type of separate objective than just gens?

We just need consistent balance updates maybe 10 perk changes per patch, we've dealt with the same exact meta for literal months
I mean you can still play 2 vs 8 when it out, happens very often.
But no I prefer 1 vs 4, mostly because thats the only mode with solo role (killer).
But I see that more casual players really love the 2 vs 8 mode. Its more a fun mode overall with less stakes
Yeah, 1v4 got real stale for me as a survivor. All my preferred playstyles besides genrushing got nerfed or removed and it's super boring going against the same broken killers each match. And when I play killer it's even more boring having to throw just so the survivors can possibly get to the last gen.
I think the question to ask is why does there need be a separate objective than gens? Gens are the key to survival. Why does anything else need to take importance? If the answer is "because the game is stale", then something other gens has to become the win condition.
I'm kinda bored with the game too by now to a point where I just login for the dailies/quests, and when they are done go back to other games.
But it isnt 1v4 that has me bored, its the fact that theres no "End Game Content" appart from trying to build another p100, which when you make enough of them they start to lose incentive (working on my 10th at 75).
So unless I have something new to earn I barely play
I think that's why casuals and terrible players love it. I know one such player; she's absolute crap at the game. Misses skill checks, loves to hide, loves to rescue but not heal/help; just hides, rarely on gens but always doing totems and chests. Always eager to escape! She loves 2v8 because there are seven others to take chase or for The Killers to pursue. She does nothing but rescue and hide.
So, she can hide amongst the rest and hope that she escapes?
Let me guess you run the same 10 meta perks?
I love 1v4 because it is the most balanced mode for players with a bunch of hours.
2v8 feels terrible for me, because the casual players in this mode are no challenge in chase ror and as survivor i run the killer for minutes. Except for the time where both killers chase me. Then i go down instantly because you simply can't loop against two killers.
I acknowledge, that 2v8 is a great addition to dbd, but 1v4 is the bread and butter for me.
Wait for the 1v1 and infection game mode, also 2v8 will return early next month.
As a long time player, I think gens are kind of perfect, and the knock on effects of side objectives would be bad for the game overall. For one - and its kind of hard to talk about this without coming across as mean, so I'll preface this with I don't mean this in a sneering or disrespectful way, its a complicated game and no shame to these players - the more casual playerbase, not just the beginners, just outright struggle very hard with sidequests or the macro strategy elements of the existing objectives to begin with, to the point where killers that have them or who are countered more on that end have pretty inflated kill rates because of it. Adding yet another mandatory thing players have to learn on top of everything else seems like a bad idea.
I also don't think the game should be made any faster or have the strategy elements reduced, and it would be hard to justify any side objective that DOESN'T end up doing that because it would either have to account for the difference between efficient players and ones who aren't, even more than gens as average chase time would be more of a factor (a mess to balance)…or be an indirect nerf by forcing us to traverse the map more often with no difference in total objective time, making stealth a lot less reliable or fun as an option. Even if BHVR reworked the entire base game and perk options to account for this, theres nothing saying players wouldn't just get bored of theoretical side objectives anyways, or end up disliking them heavily for the above reasons.
I just don’t enjoy 1v4 as much as I used to because I’m high mmr so I go against the same strong killers everytime I log in. I get happy when I see a Huntress or a Ghoul nowadays lol
fully agree… tbh the 2vs8 was the best thing that the devs did so far in my opinion, the 1vs4 feels too much sweaty for my taste
Just wondering what your thoughts are when you face a killer running something like plaything, pentimento, devour hope, or Sadako or The Pig.
I agree. Here's my take on it: The game has become far too linear for a Asymmetrical game. Behaviour never actually went through the steps to make this a competitive game, the same "rank" system has existed forever which means nothing and the MMR is insanely out of wack, and all of the content creators for the game treat it like it's supposed to be played fully competitively anyway. the most "optimal" playstyles to "win" aren't even what get the most bloodpoints which is… the only real wincondition in the game still after all of these years. you pip up by playing diversely but the game is pushed towards not playing diversely at all.
Survivor doesn't feel particularly rewarding at this point in the game and there are multiple killers that are just not fun to play against and people complain about them all the time. there's no reason at all why from the outset a killers power should feel tedious and bad to deal with, and it isn't a matter of "I dont like losing" its just literally nobody wants to deal with Legions constant mending even if legion isnt very good, very few people want to deal with Plague at all, she totally invalidates builds and most altruism from the outset and provides a mechanic that when interacted with wrong BMs the entire team, nobody wants to hold W away from the most interactive part of the game currently, the loops but are forced to because antiloop is the direction Behaviour has taken newer killers rather than making them uniquely their own.
Why is this game Asymmetrical but played as if all things have to fit in this narrow little aisle of gameplay? there is so much to these Killers, especially licensed ones, that they could implement to make the games diverse and interesting but over hours of playing it has just become oh man here comes the knife guy and he's gonna probably dash at me I guess… there's no Nuance even, its like Kaneki: Jump, Lock on Deep Wound Hit, Jump again, Down. that doesn't make him feel uniquely himself. The Knight: Place a little guy that chases people around and then walk at them and hit them with a sword… okay I guess… At least the Trapper, who has been in the game since launch has his own goal and strategy that is uniquely his own and its like he's been left by the wayside…
Maybe I am tripping but I see a game that could be awesome if it wasn't half forced to be some kind of Competitive Win/Loss PVP experience and also half forced to be a game that encourages random nonsense… maybe "Lacks Proper Direction" is the best way to say it…
Maybe my mmr is not that high, but i vs a wide range of killers in my soloq games. Of course theres the occasional nurse or spirit, but mostly it's a mixed bag with wacky plays all around. I'm a lucky quanton.
I don’t mind it at all. Most of the times my teammates don’t know how to effectively play into it so I just make the killer chase me lol
I like 4vs1. Its what keeps me still playing after 5k hours and 8 years. I have everything, so farming bloodpoints or doing any challenge (dont care for trophies) is no incentive to keep playing. I simply play bc i like the gameplay.
I still switch things up. Currently i play a lot of Oni and as survivor i use Object and We see you.
2vs8 is boring for me. I like playing killer with a friend, but last week i needed to wait 45min every time. Survivor is completely rng. Sometimes gens fly, sometimes nobody wants to do them. Most killer cant touch you bc of the 2vs8 pallet strength, but your dead in seconds if both chase you.
I dont think youll get more variety up top soon.
The devs are more likely to hammer down a top tier than buff weaker killers into B+ tier (see the last groundbreaking gf or doc "buffs"
