Missed Opportunity to Pass on Marble Hornets
For those unaware, a post from the creator of Marble Hornets, Troy Wagner, was made earlier today on Bluesky.
As a childhood fan of Creepypasta's, Slenderman, and the Slenderverse, this is a pretty big disappointment to hear. Marble Hornets may not be the most known IP, but it's unique interpretation of the Operator and characters like Alex, Jay, Hoodie, and Masky have been high on my want list for a long time.
Putting bigger issues for the game aside, if any version of Slenderman ever makes it into the Fog, I'd like the Entity to reach back out and try making it work with the Faceless Man.
How do you feel about this news? Do you care to see Slenderman make it into the game? If so, do you care if they go for Marble Hornets or something else like the game adaptation?

I would rather not see Slenderman in DBD. For BHVR to pass on it means internal polling for now agrees.
Not necessarily, this just means that Marble Hornets was passed on. BHVR could have chosen to licence the video game or an original interpretation of Slenderman and we'd still be seeing what we are now.
As someone who would like to see the Operator, could I ask what turns you off from the Collab? Something like issues adapting his abilities into a power?
Hoping this just means they have found another avenue to license Slenderman through, maybe through the actual Slenderman license rather than MH.
With them saying they got ten IP's in conversation with them, maybe they just got their hands full for now. Maybe in a couple of years we might get slenderman/operator if approached again at a later time.
What is marble hornets? I've not heard of it.
Short answer its a found footage web series that own one version of Slender Man.
Basically, it’s a webseries that propelled Slenderman’s popularity. The video games are inspired by it, iirc.
It's a shame, but as others pointed out MH isn't the only IP avenue they have.

No he is not public domain. The original is owned by its creator Eric Knudsen. The one that Marble Hornets owns is same kind of being called The Operator. There is enough differences of the characters to make them different beings but both are tall thin faceless person wearing a suit looking thing.
