RIFT system could use changes

I will make certain suggestion that I feel would improve Rifts a lot, and anyone feel free to add your suggestions. Some of these I've taken from other posts that I agree with.

  1. There should be at the minimum 3, not just 2 Deep Rift Variants. And I would like each variant to be different enough from the base skin. In the current rit, Deep Rift 1 variants look nice, but are TOO similar to the base design. The Deep Rift 2 variants are amazing: they look very different, and also look really, really good. Deep RIft 3 should also exist.
  2. Every rift should include at least 1 male and female survivor. The latter is never a problem, but the former is, it seems. I mostly play male survivors, and I am always excited to unlock cosmetics for them in the Rift. This Rift not having any male survivor in the Deep RIft (especially considering how absolutely amazing the Golden Deep RIft 2 variants look) makes me very sad and disappointed. At the very least you could have included Ace, probably the most popular male survivor in the game.
  3. No rift should include a character that was present in the previous rift (or previous 2) (excluding community contest characters). We've had too many back-to-back rifts with Nea, for example. Or Meg. And now Zarina. With how many characters exist in the game currently, it would be awesome to make an effort to feature them all regularly throughout Rifts. Especially since "rift skins are cheap", since you get a bunch of them for only $10.
  4. Just like with events like Blood Moon or Halloween you release both unlockable free quest skins PLUS store skins, I would like something similar with Rifts. I don't mean more free skins, since the Rift already has a free track. What I mean is: alongside a Rift (which is usually themed), also release Store skins with that theme, and include variants that fit the Deep Rift. Taking the current Rift as an example, you could have put Kate's rift skin as a Store skin instead, with all the variants. She is VERY popular, so you would basically be guaranteed to make money for it. And instead, in her place in the Rift, you could have put Jonah, or Gabriel, or Shane, or Haddie. You know, someone who might not sell well in the store ($10 for a single skin), but would deffinitely "sell well" in the Rift, since the whole RIft costs $10, so each RIft skin technically costs probably less than $1. I will say though, huge props to you for spotlighting Orela and Taurie in this rift, the girls have been needing Rift love for quite a while, and you've done them justice.
  5. You should rework the cosmetics system to be much closer to how Fortnite does it: let us toggle things off, like masks, shades or backpacks. While I personally tend to love these, many do not, which also lowers your sales in general. Also, let variants work like in Fortnite: it's 1 skin where you can select which variant version to use, rather than have 3 different separate skins (like with Eren Trapper from AoT).

Honorable mention: some characters (e.g. Jonah) still do not have ANY Rift skin with a Deep Rift variant. Jonah's actually only been in rifts twice: one time it was a rift with his lore (where he got a full outfit; deep rift was not a thing back then, so no variants) ( TOME 12, 2022 ), and another time was a recolor of a skin (gorgeous Valentine's day recolor) ( TOME 14, 2023 ). He's never been in a Rift since then. That's ridiculous, mates.

  • I feel like everyone is tired of the variants. That could be a whole new bunch cosmetics available to mix and match with your favourite survivors. I also wish they would tone down on accessories and outfit clutter that looks… ya know.

Variants are good for people like me who enjoy them, but also should take way less time to make. With variants, I assume that the devs "only" need to put new colors on already modeled clothes, accessories etc., whereas if they were putting new cosmetics instead, they'd have to first design them, them model them, test for clippings etc., which is a lot more work.

Yeah but we get recolours in later rifts so there's always a time and place for variants to come back. Having so many variants in one rift, especially on the paid section feels super lazy… and if the cosmetics are bad like this rift, you have what, 3 recolours of an ugly outfit that doesn't look good with any of their other cosmetics and everyone is mad.

Also we are buying them, so there's absolutely no issue with them having to design cosmetics and model them. It seems the bar/your expectations for them are super low. DbD is the only game i've played where they skimp out on making cosmetics by changing the colours and copy and pasting it 3+ times.
