Killer BAN system.
We have 43 killers in game, killer roster is getting bigger each year.
Can we create a system which lets a lobby ban 3 killers?
UPSIDES:
- More enjoyment of the game, much less frustrations.
People will be given more control over their experience, surviviors would be able to avoid things they don't enjoy. - There would be much less DC/giving up.
- Less meta-controlled/repetitive/dull matches.
Kaneki with 6 perks (mask and centipede) with 4 slow downs is extremely strong.
Surviviors wouldn't be forced to go against it that often, enjoyment will increase. (that's just one example) - Balancing tool! If killer is banned too often, that's good info for developers.
No one bans a killer? He might be something we should be aiming at when balancing killers. - More killer variety.
DOWNSIDE:
- Some strongest killers might take longer to find a match - this will need to be tested tho.
Q: What about Kaneki, Nurse players? They will be getting matches much more longer?
A: Maybe, you can't say that. I think majority of people still will decide not to use this feature.
Let's say they do, what then? Then we take this feature as information hub - if 50% of the community will be banning nurse - this killers needs a change and needs this ASAP and we think what we should change to make experience better for both surviviors and killers.
Q: SWF will abuse it to only play against TRAPPER and SM!
A: Then we make each lobby (as a group) decide the killers, not each survivior. Limit that to 3 killers per lobby.
Q: What about new killers? People will be banning new killers!
A: We can make new killers being excluded from the banning pool for the first month or until new release.
I believe that such feature could be impleneted to increase people enjoyment of the game.
You need 4 surviviors for 1 killer.
This feature will make surviviors less frustrated, less DC would be happening.
People are genuently moving to play different games because they face their most disliked killer all the time, this mostly push people off.
Comments
A couple things.
There should never be any ban system in this game. People have paid money of the characters and have the right to play them if they so choose.
I do not need proof to know that queue times will explode if we allow killer bans. Killers are forced to queue up as the killer of their choice, they cannot switch killers after queueing up. Killers do not have equal playrates, some killers are far more popular than others and survivors in the lobby will be affected by choices made by the other survivor.
So if you don't ban facing Nurse, but at least 1 other survivor in the lobby you are in does, then the game would not match your lobby up with a killer queueing as Nurse. Not to mention any time a new killer releases and survivors ban facing the new killer.
So you basically didn't read my topic and commneting.
My idea was to let whole lobby have killers banned, not every player.
How would a lobby of survivors declare bans if they a killer is already in the lobby? If they ban the killer they are already matched with what then? In this situation you would still create longer queues, because you would first match 4 survivors up then have them declare killer bans, then the system would try to grab a valid killer from the pool knowing that less popular killers are less likely to be banned in the first place.
There is simply no benefit to increasing queue times for this.
I understand the sentiment of seeing 7 Ghouls in a row. I WISH I could banish him from my lobbies for a month, but no type of ban system will work. It would only cause more problems than it solves.
To be honest after Jason being added in current form I'd much rather go against Ghoul and Knight whole day :D
Me too buddy, me too.
ban system does not belong in this game. The game isn’t even considered a competitive game in the devs eyes.
As others have mentioned, queue times for everyone everywhere would soar with any kind of killer ban system. Right now every Jason, Nurse, Wesker, and Blight would basically never get a match in an hour's time if we did this. Also whenever a new killer is added (such as Jason) that's at least good and fun they'd be gone too for weeks.
Also the issue of functionality comes up: Survs would have to pick their ban before matchmaking begins, not once in a lobby, as the killer is locked into place first.
Alternatively a BP multiplier or even queue prio incentive for killers which are under represented could be nice.
There’s no way the developers would implement this ban system. Every time a new Killer is released, there are always players who complain that everyone is playing that new Killer. Survivors would likely use this ban system to try to ban that new Killer. So what would happen to the matches? It’s obvious if you just think about it.
Also, if this situation occurs during certain times of day when matches are extremely slow for Killer players who only play specific Killers, it will lead to increased frustration on both sides.
The same applies when a specific Killer becomes temporarily popular following a balance update.
To begin with, the developers probably won’t implement any kind of ban system. If you look back at their past statements, this should become clear.
Queue times between 8pm and 1am are 3 to 5 minutes, few months back queue time was instant within those hours.
There is more killers and less surviviors than before. If we keep on ignoring surviviors we will have problem
