Doing emotes makes you immune to fall in any direction when getting downed

SUMMARY OF THE ISSUE:

  • Survivors often do emotes at exit gates so they can‘t fall in a direction where they can get picked up.

PLATFORM: ps5, all

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW THE ISSUE OCCURED:

  • Do emote one second before being downed.
  • Now you don‘t fall in any direction like when you don‘t do it.

PLAYER LOGS:

  • Player logs are required from PC players only.

Comments

  • Please provide a video and/or logs.

Press the Windows Key + R to open the "Run" command.

In the text box paste the following: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\DeadByDaylight\Saved\Logs

Click "OK" - this will open your Dead by Daylight Logs folder.

If it does not open the Dead by Daylight Logs folder, it may mean that when installing Dead by Daylight you chose to save your files somewhere else and will need to check there.

The file called "DeadByDaylight.log" is your log file

This is a feature. Emote teching as its been dubbed, is used to position yourself wherever you want when being downed and making a little more distance from the killer when the down occurs, since you don't get stun locked and immediately begin crawling

Is this confirmed to be a feature?

I have added a video. In there you see me doing an emote which causes me to not fall in any direction when being downed. Maybe it’s a feature I don‘t know.

About logs; I‘m on ps5, I don‘t have any. I edited it to ps5 to not create confusion.

Well its pretty well known and abused as its been for years now. So I'd say its safe to assume that BHVR considers it as a feature

Well this just means it is tolerated like blight was with his hug tech for a long time. It might change. If behavior closes this bug report we will know their stance on it.

Blight's hug tech was not tolerated, thats why its gone. This isn't even known as a bug or not and has a very minor impact on a match

I‘ve spoken in the past tense about how it „WAS tolerated for years“.

very minor impact on a match

Not really true. It can decide about getting a kill or not. I have more than enough survivors that get cooky at the exit gates and I often punch them far enough away from the exit gate to pick them up, but this bug makes that impossible. It is also used a lot at pallets to stay inside of the pallet safe range. These safes can turn games around if they succeed.
