Items that you can't use in chests

So, why are there still items that you can't use on chests like green maps and keys.

Would it be that bad for all items to have a function just so opening a chest wouldn't be such a waste of time?

Comments

  • Considering that chest contents are actually the killer's property, I wonder why would the killer make the effort to ensure all its contents are useful for survivors?

Honestly it would be fun if trapper could actually change the content a chest with a booby trap.

  • Green maps have a function, don't they? It's not a useful function, but they do actually do something.

Broken Keys are, I think, literally useless on their own so I wouldn't mind those being taken out. Then again, you could argue that's a free key to slap a Blood Amber on or something if you manage to take it out with you, so it isn't entirely useless in the grand scheme of things. Still, though.

By that logic, just don't have chest in the map at all.

Less dumb challenges to give killers free wins.

Also by that logic a chest could be empty, just for big middle finger moment. I honestly would love that xD

Ah, but If there are no chests? Then the survivors would just work on their objective. Hide a trap in the middle of useful chests and the survivors will have reason to take a chance and open those chests. Empty chest would definitely be hilarious.

Would be all up for tripling the amount of chests if at least half of them were empty and I could trap one.

Yeah, it almost like survivors bring their items don't go for chest and go for the objective. Better not tell this to anyone xD

Legit, bhvr if you are listening, put traps in chest and empty chest for an April fools event. Pls, i beg you xD

  • I'd agree. Chests are a weird mechanic in general that don't make much sense. Why not just bring in the item you want/not waste 14 seconds for garbage. That said tweaking chests away from RNG does get rid of some of the "fun". Perhaps an offering you can burn that guarantees the next chest you open will have x type of item of at least y quality with n add-ons? I'm not really sure

Regardless of all that I'd agree with you OP that removing items you can't do anything with makes sense
